I've been working at Opportunity Village since 2022 and to me it will always be more than just a non-profit!
The reason I started working at OV is because they began an Entry job training program at my last workplace (retail setting). I was an "outsider" who didn't know much about OV besides that they support people with disabilities. Working alongside the training participants was inspirational, and they were always so grateful to have even just the chance of gaining work experience. I watched their skills and confidence grow over time and celebrated with them after receiving job offers. I witnessed firsthand how OV can truly change people's lives and support them in gaining independence. The OV training instructors were kind to everyone, and most importantly you could just see how passionate they were about helping their participants excel and achieve their goal of finding a job. I wanted to be like them!
Once I joined OV, my opinion of this non-profit has only become more positive. I learned that OV helps the community in more ways than just job development: day habilitation programs, arts and recreation, and even a whole community to support independent living. The level of care and attention to detail that's put into every program is incredible. Each colleague I've had the privilege of learning from has so much love and compassion for the people they serve. It really shows in their work and how they treat everyone they support. What I find most admirable is OV's dedication to training staff in order to support people with disabilities in the best way possible. We're always up to date on state regulations and training material that will benefit those we serve. I'm constantly finding and learning new ways to better support those I work with each day. This is incredibly helpful since our services are individualized to those we support, and not everyone has the same style of learning or receiving information.
Overall, Opportunity Village is a non-profit I truly believe in and I'm proud to be part of this organization.

Opportunity Village is a pivotal piece of the Southern Nevada community. Serving community members for nearly 70 years and reaching more than 1000's of adults with disabilities each year, it is a staple of needs for those who are marginalized. As the only true social enterprise, Opportunity Village creates an environment of inclusion and belonging for fun and work! It can be challenging work. Hardships are faced, and difficult scenarios are witnessed, yet the staff finds strong bonds with the people and their families. OV employees show up day in and day out with love and kindness, a level of care that is respectful and wonderful. There are always activities and opportunities for people to get involved and feel genuinely connected.
It's incredible to see a nonprofit that embodies its mission so fully. From the services provided and community involvement to the business environment itself. It's no surprise why Opportunity Village is so well-known throughout the Las Vegas community.
I have worked at Opportunity Village for over 13 years. Never have I felt the compassion and caring that the staff, persons served, and volunteers exude each day. The services OV provides has catapulted and now has become the top integrated Residential provider for individuals with intellectual and physical dis'abilities' in the nation. I am proud to say that I work for such an organization and so fortunate to have found my career path at OV!
