Operation Second Chance Inc was an amazing organization to work with. I am a combat veteran who served three tours. They were compassionate as well as easy to work with to get the assistance I needed. I truly thank the organization for everything they do to help veterans in times of need. I got the assistance I needed and it is a great help to keep a veteran off the streets. Thank you for all you do!!!

I am beyond grateful for the compassionate support I received from this incredible organization. As a disabled veteran, facing financial hardship can feel overwhelming, but they stepped in with such efficiency, understanding, and respect. The assistance they provided was not only significant—it was life-changing. I was filled with so much emotion that I literally sobbed. Their prompt response lifted an enormous weight off my shoulders, allowing me to focus on moving forward with dignity and peace of mind. This is more than just an organization, Operation Second Chance Inc. is a true lifeline for disabled veterans. Thank you for honoring your commitment to those who have served.
Operation Second Chance is changing lives one veteran at a time. When I thought there was no hope. OSC became that light at the end of the tunnel. They offered assistance so that I could continue to work. Thanks for being a hand up and a bright light at the end of a very dark tunnel. I am so grateful for a space where women are heard and send. It feels good not to be invisible.
I was struggling mentally until a friend told me about Operation Second Chance. They were hosting their first event for women veterans in Columbus, Ohio. At the event this past Saturday I laughed for the first time in a long time. It was wonderful hearing everyone's background and just spending time enjoying the company of other women. Thank you!
I have been fortunate to participate in numerous Operation Second Chance events. The opportunity to connect with fellow veterans and foster positive community relationships, facilitated by Josh Connor in Kern County, has significantly benefited my mental well-being. The monthly veteran camaraderie activities are invaluable, and Operation Second Chance provides exceptional support. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to veterans.
I haven't had much luck in my past finding an organization that cares as much as Operation Second Chance. They provide me with a woman only group each month to go to and escape my daily struggles of life. There's camaraderie. accountability, and fun activities set up. I don't have to worry about the costs of the events and I can just focus on self care. Thanks OSC for providing me with a second chance for myself.
Operation Second Chance reminded me that healing isn’t something we have to do alone. Attending a few Kern County events gave me a chance to laugh, breathe, and just enjoy the moment and that is something I hadn’t done in a LOOOONG time. It’s more than support group, it’s a fresh start surrounded by people who truly get it what I am currently going through!
Thank You Operations Second Chance
As a veteran, finding a sense of purpose and connection after service can be a challenge! Operation Second Chance has been a true blessing. The events Josh hosts in Bakersfield have given me something I didn’t realize I was missing; the chance to reconnect with my brothers and sisters in arms in a meaningful way. Whether it’s a coffee chat, a local gathering, or just sharing stories around others who understand, these moments have helped pull me out of isolation and reminded me that I’m not alone. Operation Second Chance truly lives up to its name! They gave me a second chance to feel that bond, that camaraderie, and most importantly, that sense of belonging again. I’m deeply grateful.
As a part of my mental health journey, I have been working on social and community reintegration. Especially, finding groups that connect with other veterans. I have never experience such an amazing program focused on getting veterans together, until now. I worked in operations and the administrative side of the Army National Guard, joining in 1998. However, when i was deployed in Iraq in 2003, I stepped into the role of a combat Military Police Officer. It was an intense immersion into a new role. When i returned home from, I was lost. I lost my job, my car, and my home. Ever since, I have been joining every veteran mental health related group and programs in an effort to help with community integration and PTSD. I just recently joined Operation Second Chance. I have done a couple of events with the group so far, and have already connected with other women veterans in similar situations. I also look forward to the events coming up and helping with community integration. I am very grateful for this organization and its mission.
I want to thank this agency and especially Theresa for turining her trauma and journey from negative to empathy and being present in aiding and supporting other Veterans who have and continue to face adversity, trauma and ostracizing from others an opportunity to explore, be supported by not only her organization affiliation but through and with other resources and connections to people who additionally support them and their needs. To be connected and be heard is a powerful tool.
Operation Second Chance truly gave me a second chance to believe in myself by allowing me to express myself through fun activities with fellow woman vets that understand me and listen. Thanks for letting my spirit fly again.

I came into a financial emergency and did not who to turn to for help. I contacted my Recovery Care Coordinator at the Army Wounded Warrior Program and he referred me to Operation Second Chance. The application and the process was so easy to follow and submit. Such a relief was taken off my shoulders when Stephanie emailed me to say the organization will be helping me out! I can breathe again and the process took less than 24ish hours.
Thank you Stephanie, Mr. Cunningham and Operation Second Chance! You all helped me so much and my thank you does not really symbolize how appreciative I am!
I am a proud parent raising a family of five, relying on my VA compensation and GI Bill to make ends meet. However, with rising utility costs and an increase in my house payment, the financial strain has been challenging.
Recently, I met with my VSO to share my situation, and they kindly provided a list of organizations that assist veterans in need. Operation Second Chance Inc. was among the first I contacted, and I was amazed by their swift response. Within just 48 hours, they stepped in to help me cover my electric bill—a relief that spared me from taking out a loan.
The application process was straightforward, taking only about 30 minutes to complete. I informed my VSO as soon as I sent in the application. This morning, I received an email confirming that my March electric bill had been paid, along with a confirmation number.
I cannot express how grateful I am for the support of Operation Second Chance Inc. They have truly made a difference in a time of need. Thank you for your dedication to helping veterans. God bless!
I cannot express enough gratitude to Operation Second Chance for the incredible gift they gave my family and me. After spending years on the frontlines of the battlefield, I thought I had left the war behind. But the truth is, some battles follow you home. The stress, the weight of memories, and the invisible wounds linger long after the uniform is put away.
This retreat was more than just a vacation—it was a chance to reconnect with my family in a way I didn’t realize we needed. The time away from daily stressors, in a peaceful and supportive environment, allowed us to simply be together. No distractions, no pressures—just quality time to heal, laugh, and remember what really matters.
Operation Second Chance gave us the space to breathe, to mend, and to move forward with a little more lightness in our hearts. I will always be grateful for this opportunity, and I hope others who are struggling in silence can experience the same relief we did. Thank you for reminding us that we are not alone and that healing is possible.
With deepest appreciation,

I'm a disabled vet and needed some financial assistance do to circumstances beyond my control. I happen to find this organization on line and requested assistance with utilities. The process was straight forward and easy. It did not take long to receive a response. I am grateful to receive the help. When circumstances are better, I will definitely be donating to help others in need.
My kids and I was in need of help transitioning from being evicted. With OSC terrific support and service, I now have a second chance to lead my kids and I out of financial burden and help me with a lot of resources that will help me with my kids sports. Thank you Operation Second Chance
I was recently granted assistance through Operation Second Chance and it was such a blessing. I cannot express how much and I am truly Grateful for your right on time assistance. God Bless you.
Operation Second Chance is amazing. I was in a tough situation and they helped me and fast. I can’t recommend them enough. I am so thankful for the support i received from OSC. Stephanie is terrific and fantastic at responding to any questions. I am so glad I found OSC when I was in a real bind. I’ll be just fine now thanks to OSC.
“Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person.” – Unknown
A year ago, if someone had asked me whether I would ever need assistance, I would have confidently answered, “No.” But life happens, and I found myself in a position I never anticipated. It’s tough being a veteran leaving the structure of military service, where stability is a given, and transitioning to civilian life, where things still happen but without the same level of security.
I first came across Operation Second Chance (OSC) through conversations with other organizations. After reading the reviews, I knew it was a place where veterans like me, who face unexpected challenges, could find support. My first interaction was with Stephanie, who was incredibly quick, thorough, and ensured my application was in order for the decision-makers. While some reviews mention quick responses, my case was more complex, especially due to the high amount of mortgage arrears I had.
My case was handed over to Bev, an OSC case manager. Bev was the next person I encountered, and she immediately demonstrated a deep understanding of how to handle complex situations. She was analytical, compassionate, and knowledgeable—an absolute asset. She used every resource at her disposal and always checked in with me, ensuring I was aware of all available options.
Thanks to Bev’s hard work, I received the assistance I desperately needed. There were days when I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, but Bev always reminded me that she was still in the fight for me. During this difficult time, which coincided with the Christmas season, OSC made sure to bring joy to my family by ensuring that my three children had a special holiday.
OSC has made a world of difference for many individuals, offering hope to those who feel hopeless. I’m incredibly grateful for their support in changing my world, and I’m beyond thankful to everyone at OSC for their help.
Americas Warrior Partnership works with Operation Second Chance to address a variety of veteran issues. When we refer veterans to OSC, I often reach out to Stephanie to provide additional information or to ask for a status on the referral.
She and the team are very responsive and helpful. They go above and beyond to be a valuable partner in the veteran space. They do what they say they will do and provide assistance in a timely manner which is very important with veterans in crisis.
They have been instrumental preventing countless families from being evicted, losing their utilities and countless other things.
This review I write with so much gratitude for Operation Second Chance and Our case worker Beverly who has helped us tremendously. I'm so grateful for my experience with Operation Second Chance. This organization is such a blessing to my family, they have given me a piece of mind. Beverly has been such a great help from the first time I came in to contact with her. She represents Operations Second Chance With precision and dedication, her love for helping Veterans and her passion is greatly appreciated. I wouldn't have it any other way. Words can't express my gratitude for OSC and Beverly, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You guys are amazing thank you again for everything that you have done for our family
This review comes with a lot of appreciation. Beverly at Operation Second Change is excellent. She has really gone above and beyond. I am a disabled combat veteran and a single father in Los Angeles. I work in the field industry and logged my job back in April due to injuries from the military that hindered me from performing to the show's liking.
After I lost my job, I struggled to find decent work that was consistent. I have work jobs to get some extra income but for the most I have lived off my VA Disability. Over these months a few of my major bills (motgagae, LADW and car note) have been past due since I was not always able to pay the fill amount on them.
Beverly helped me create a budget plan and put in more work to help me get caught up. She was kind even when I was talking about being broke as a father. There was no judgement and went way beyond my expectation in order to help me. I truly feel blessed and am grateful for her help and the services she proved me and my son.
Beverly helped our family in so many ways. Our family has been struggling financially for a while and now we know the steps we need to take to get on the road to better finances. OSC is amazing.
We love OSC!! Our first experience with them was through their retreat program couple years ago which was an amazing experience and such a peaceful beautiful place to be. Just recently we have fallen to some hard times and financial struggles. We are so grateful for operation second chance with helping us during these times it's been the greatest blessing and we will never forget it!! Thank you so much !!
This retreat was an absolute game-changer. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and cared for. The staff was incredibly attentive, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction.
The experiences were perfectly balanced, offering a mix of structured activities and free time to relax and recharge. The opportunity to connect with fellow veterans through activities like pool, air hockey, skeet shooting, four-wheeling, and archery was truly special. It was a unique chance to bond with others who understand the challenges and triumphs of military service.
The amenities were top-notch, providing everything we needed for a truly enjoyable stay. This retreat exceeded my expectations and left me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. I can't recommend it enough
Operation Second Chance was recommended to our family as a resource for our family to get help with financial difficulties we were having due to the two major hurricanes in Florida. When I got the call from our case worker, Beverly; she helped me realize so many things and especially that we are not alone and there are tons of resources that we didn't even know about! My husband keeps saying how good Beverly is at what she does, is very empathetic and easy to communicate with! That is huge for our family! My husband and our family needed this more than I can express!
Beverly, Operation Second Chance and their supporters have been a true blessing to us, it has opened our eyes to so many things we didn't even know about and has given us so much hope! If it wasn't for Operation Second Chance and Beverly, I honestly don't know where we would be right now. Thank you to such an amazing organization for their support and encouragement! You have changed our lives for the better!
I would like to express my gratitude to Operation Second Chance for providing emergency financial assistance when I had no one else to turn to, not even my family. Unlike other veteran organizations that only provide contact information for resources, Beverly Poyer actually listened to my needs and created a personalized plan to help me. Beverly Poyer was my saving grace during a difficult time, thanks to Operations Second Chance. Operation Second Chance truly lives up to its name.
Ever since I started getting my benefits from the VA, I didn't realize how much help is out there for veterans and service members, and my experience with Operation Second Chance has been a life saver and such an amazing help. The people who have made all of this possible for me, I am forever in your debt and you will always be in my prayers. Thank you all so much for your help.
Our family recently faced financial hardship due to the impact of Hurricane Beryl and the unexpected need to replace our A/C system. With everything happening at once, we felt overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. Thankfully, we reached out to Operation Second Chance, and we are incredibly grateful for their support. They helped ease our financial burden by covering our mortgage for the month, allowing us to allocate funds for necessary repairs. We are forever grateful for their assistance. THANK YOU, OPERATION SECOND CHANCE!
A truly wonderful and heartfelt experience at Heroes Ridge which will leave everlasting memories for my family and I. From beginning to end we felt like we were spending quality family time with our extended family of Cindy and her group of amazing volunteers. Cindy and her band of extraordinary volunteers were warm and welcoming. This place is special and all of those who are a part of creating/maintaining this awe inspiring place are angels that walk among us. Thank you so much Cindy and all of the staff and volunteers of Operation Second Chance. It’s a beautiful thing to see such selfless people come together to show their passion and patriotism. OSC you will always hold a special place in our hearts.
My family and I had the privilege of being invited to spend a few days at Heros Ridge at Raven Rock. At first we didn't know what to expect. Everything from each email received sounded too good to be true until we arrived. Overwhelmed would be an understatement at the kind of treatment we received. Cindy and team really, truly know how to get families to retreat. We felt like royalty at the way they made sure everything we needed /wanted was provided. Nothing beats a well planned retreat where you don't have to lift a finger but just show. From horseback riding, to archery and riding four wheelers all over the property, my family really had a great time almost to the point where leaving to come back home was hard for everyone. Haven't really dealt with a whole lot of veteran organizations but I can attest to this particular one really being there for the veterans and families. I applaud the awesome team of staff and volunteers who consistently make sure each family that visits leaves the retreat knowing this was their turn to be served for the many sacrifices they have given.
Sincerely,
Kwabena Okyere-Boateng
We’re blessed that Operation Second Chance helped us in our time of need. We’re forever grateful for the support we received and the smooth process in applying. We send our prayers for Operation Second Chance to be able to keep up the ability to help our veteran community when difficult times hit each of us.
AMAZING organization! When other wounded Veteran organizations couldn't help Operation Second Chance clearly gave my family a second chance. This organization stand's by it's name. Honor, duty, loyalty, integrity and selfless service at its finest from the staff at Operation Second Chance. Stephanie Albrecht (administrative assistant) thank you so much for everything. Your assistance was greatly appreciated I can't thank you enough.
My wife and I had an amazing experience with Operation Second Chance. The couples retreat we attended at Heroes' Ridge was amazing!!! It was an experience of a lifetime. It was so amazing bonding with the other veteran couple and participating in the events. During the retreat we participated in a Horseback ride through Gettysburg, we were introduced to archery, and learned how to rope during the cowboy clinic. Being at Hero's Ridge allowed my wife and I to leave our worries behind and just relax. The food was excellent and the cabins we stayed in were amazing. We really enjoyed riding ATVs around the Hero's Ridge. Cindy and all the Operations Second Chance staff and volunteers treated us like family, and we are so grateful for the experience.
During my last tour in Iraq, I was wounded three times. My injuries consisted of a broken neck, collapsed right lung, fractured skull, fractured femur and shrapnel wounds to my left leg. I am so grateful for organizations like Operation Second Chance, that support our military our veterans while also supporting their family. Thank you for an experience of a lifetime.
I know and participate with several veterans organizations and they all do great things with veterans. Usually, it is just the service members that get to participate. OSC gave our family (of 5) the opportunity to participate and connect in a way we haven't, that really brought us together and enjoy all the amenities that hero's ridge had to offer. The staff of volunteers and the Mcgrew family are second to none. My family is thankful and recommends that all who can come and experience it should. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts, and hope we can visit soon once again.
Operation Second Chance hosted me and four other veterans who served in similar capacities on a Florida fishing trip and sport clay shoot. The experience exceeded expectations. The OSD hosts and volunteers are genuinely great Americans who routinely donate time and resources to the program. Since retiring from the military, this is the first opportunity of its kind that I participated in. Reconnecting with like-minded individuals with similar experiences was refreshing and proved to be time well spent. Thank you, Mike, Trudy, Kevin, Captain Chris, and Captain Tony.
Operation Second Chance is a life saver! I needed some assistance due to an illness in my family. Ms Stephanie Albrecht was very professional, courteous, and expeditious! I want to thank everyone who donated and/or has helped Operation Second Chance for their major assistance with my family!
Hands down one of the best experiences of my life. Everyone involved was very accommodating and friendly. I now have new lifelong friends in Sarasota, FL. I would highly recommend being involved with OSC in any way possible.
Operation Second Chance helped me to find my joy again. I was part of the sister retreat and was provided with the opportunity to spend a weekend with my sister. We stayed at Hero’s Ridge at Raven Rock, which in and of itself, is absolutely beautiful. The views are stunning and took my breath away every time I was able to walk past them. Cindy, Katie, Erin, and ALL the volunteers made us all feel at home, with gourmet home cooked meals, wonderful conversation, and friendships that will last a lifetime. The friendly farm atmosphere was incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. We were pampered, able to ride horses through the Gettysburg battlefield, and ride ATV’s through the property. I have never felt such warmth, compassion, and full hearts like I did at Hero’s Ridge, and I cannot wait to volunteer my time in the future for this amazing organization.
They provided a retreat to Sarasota FL for a spearfishing trip. The volunteers that met us and took us out on the water were an amazing group of individuals. Our host was exceptionally welcoming and had us for meals at his home. They took us fishing and trap shooting and had a cookout for us with the fish. I cant say enough how great this trip was, and how amazing everyone was. There were zero worries the entire weekend, all flights were easy and coordinated and we got a rental van for transportation. This is my second time on a retreat both after being wounded and both with OSC. OSC genuinely cares for the soldiers they help and you can feel that every time you meet them or those they allow to volunteer. Thank you Operation Second Chance and thank you to everyone that supports them allowing them to complete their mission.
What an amazing group of people over Operations Second Chance! The idea of getting military families connected with their extended family(sister) to spend a couple of days together to reconnect/bond since we don’t get to see each other often is such an amazing thing. Thank you Operations Second Chance for all that you did!
I had the honor of being invited to the military caregiver retreat at operation second chance,. I really have no words to express the gratitude and appreciation for the chance to bond with friends and new friends. Heroes Ridge is breathtaking and inspiring. The views and facilities are amazing. Special thanks to our host Cindy and all her helpers that made it extraordinary and so much fun. Kisses to Jake.
Thank you
Sally
I had the privilege of attending a Caregiver Retreat hosted by Operation Second Chance. It was absolutely amazing. The location at Heroes Ridge at Raven Rock was breathtaking. I had the best time with these ladies that I have not seen for 10+years and also got to meet some wonderful women who are going through tough times now. It was like we had always known each other. There was so much laughter, tears and sharing and now my family is that much larger. Thank you Cindy and Linda. I hope you both realize what an impact you make on the people who meet you. Thank you also to the volunteers for making this a 5 star weekend of relaxation (it can't be done without you).
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cindy and her staff hosted a wonderful group of Military Caregivers and this is literally the most amazing place! Every detail is thought of! The atmosphere is upbeat, beautiful and you do not have to leave the Ridge to have the most enjoyable and fun time! Our retreat consisted of "seasoned" caregivers and newbies! I watched transformations in front of my eyes and it is ALL owed to Cindy, her passion, her love and her devotion to making her dream a reality! Stephanie was awesome getting all the information out prior too the retreat, Katie arranged for us to enjoy massages and Lisa and the other volunteers were just the BEST! Cindy, her love for our Military and Families just shines through and this is an AMAZING PLACE! Thanks to all!!!
I am first off, so grateful to Linda Rasnake, Soldier Recovery Brigade (National Capital Region), Family Readiness Support Assistance who invited me to the participate in a special event, hosted by Operation Second Chance and was blown away by the level of support during the Hero's Ridge at Raven Rock "caregiver retreat" from 9-11 May 2024. I got to connect with Cindy McGrew, who leads with love at OSC and is the most caring, gracious and kind soul who welcomed our group to this amazing property of healing and restoration.
I was so inspired by my experience with OSC and Cindy that my dream now is to create a mini-outpost in NH (where I own a home) so I can help my new "soul tribe" of caregivers reconnect and continue balancing their challenging lives with a dose of #selfcare, #compassion, #connection and #NatureRx.

The OSC staff made this trip amazing. It was my first time hunting and it was a wonderful, memorable experience, and one of the funniest experience I’ve been fortunate to have after leaving the military. Thank you Operation Second Chance for your time, love, and commitment to enriching veterans' lives.

I'm so thankful for Operation Second Chance, they helped me in my time of need. I had a huge water bill due to two pipes bursting. Thank you so much Operation Second Chance!!
Cindy and team helped me procure materials for my fence to contain my boxer puppy. She helps me get through the trauma I faced by being a loyal companion. Bailey was hit by a car in March 2024, barely survived… I saved her life as she has aged mine. With operation second chance, now Bailey has a more secure 2nd chance. Thank you so much
I recently attended the Turkey Hunt in VA and as a 1st time "hunter" I was amazed at the way the host took me in and took his time from actually hunting to teach and mentor me. The OSC member there on site took care of it all and where genuinely good people. Glad to have had the courage to go and experience it and gained lifelong friends!
The ladies at Operation Second Chance Inc., are extremely professional, courteous, and came through in an arduous time of need. I had not been paid in two months and the bills were piling up. OSC quickly and promptly donated money to assist in payment of my mortgage. I cannot recommend their service enough. Thank you so much, it is heavily appreciated
Went on the Virginia turkey hunt. It was an awesome time being out in the woods and meeting new people. The conditions were great along with the food, lodging and most importantly everyone we met. They made us feel at home and can’t thank them enough for the opportunity and also everyone else that allowed us to hunt on their property
I’m a disabled veteran, a husband, and a father of 3 elementary school-aged boys. My VA rating was reduced, which led to over $1800/month lost income. Shortly thereafter, I lost my job, leaving my housing cost at greater than 54% of my income. Operation Second Chance was able to provide a month’s rent, which was approved in less than a week. I think it took less than 2 days from final submission to the board to approval and a check being sent. Thank God for their great work. Now, I’m not looking for a job with the immediate threat of eviction. I know I’ll find the job.
Thank you, Stephanie, and Operation Second Chance.
V/r,
Stephen
I was privileged with attending the first ever golf weekend with Operation Second Chance down in Sarasota. The volunteers were awesome and showed us a great time, can’t thank you enough for the opportunity and support you guys show us. These events are amazing for connecting both active duty, veterans and volunteers who love our country and want to support each other. Great time to forge meaningful relationships for tough times. Thank you OSC!
This agency is god sent. I don't know how to thank them and i don't even think writing this review is enough. They helped me out and the process went smoothly. My representative Stephanie was amazing and to be honest, helped decrease my stress levels drastically. I wouldn't and couldn't have asked for a better representative. Thank you Stephanie!
My husband and I attended a couples retreat, hosted by OSC in Florida last month. What an incredible gift this was for us! We’ve spent the majority of last 14 years apart due to the never ending demands of the military. Coming off another deployment this sponsored weekend away was a much needed break from the demands of parenting, work and managing the daily hustle. We were blown away by the generosity, sincerity and kindness of all those involved face to face and behind the scenes. Thank you OSC!!!
Dear Operation Second Chance,
I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible generosity and kindness you have shown me. Your blessing of paying my entire mortgage has lifted an enormous burden off my shoulders and has given me a renewed sense of hope and stability.
I cannot thank you enough for your support during this challenging time in my life. Your organization's dedication to helping individuals in need is truly inspiring, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been a recipient of your generosity.
Please know that your kindness has made a profound impact on my life, and I will always be grateful for your support. I am committed to paying this kindness forward and will do my best to make a positive difference in the lives of others, just as you have done for me.
Thank you once again for your generosity and blessings. You have made a difference in my life, and I will never forget your kindness!
With heartfelt thanks,
Dillon and family
Operation Second Chance was a godsend to our family! My military career was unexpectedly ended and we needed help with our transition. Operation Second Chance stepped up and eased our financial stress.
Thank you!!
My family and I went on a ski retreat this past weekend and we truly had a great time and the staff at heroes ridge where we stayed made out stay great they are so on point with everything that the soldier and there families could ever need so we thank you for being there and supporting the families other wise we wouldn't be able to do such events like this you guys are a blessing and thanks again
I lost my husband unexpectedly Nov 2023...Operation Second Chance stepped in to help me with getting my car fixed. I'm extremely grateful for their help and support during this difficult time.
My wife and I went on a ski trip sponsored by Operation Second Chance. It was an amazing experience, and would have been next to impossible for us to have done it on our own.
We stayed at Heroes Ridge at Raven Rock during the trip, which was truly designed for taking caring of the full spectrum of veterans. It was impressive to see the level of detail they went to in order to ensure they could care for every veteran who stayed there.
It was clear that the whole OSC team really cared for all of us that were there, and committed to providing an opportunity for couples to truly "retreat" and interact with other veterans.
Contacted this organization around 8AM on Tuesday and my situation was handled by that afternoon. These people are a blessing! Thank you so much for your help! My family highly appreciates you and the good you’re doing! Happy New Years!
Recently, my family came into a hardship and needed assistance. We reached out to Operation Second Chance and they quickly responded with help! It honestly was a prayer answered for our family and we cannot thank them enough. We are so thankful that they were willing to help a disabled veteran family in need! We highly recommend this organization!
As a transitioning officer from active duty, I was a little prideful when it came to asking for assistance. However, life happens and Secondhand Operations was there to assist me to ease some of my financial burden! Stephanie was very responsive and I’m extremely grateful for the assistance!
We took the scenic route and enjoyed our view of the beautiful land GOD made. From the second we got there, Miss Cindy made my daughter and I feel like we were home. The staff were superb! They took care of us in every way to ensure we were all smiles. I honestly don't know who was cheesing the most between my daughter and me. Where can you go where you can ride horses, ride 4wheelers, hike, fish, play basketball, play pickleball, swim pool, gym, air hockey, fire pit, great food and meet new people that help make lifelong memories? This trip set the standard which every veteran organization, church, military, and support group needs to follow. Thank you, Miss Cindy, for what you have done for us. You have made a friend for life!

If you have an opportunity to get involved with Operation Second Chance - do it. My experience at the Caregiver's Retreat in October of 2023 was what my tired soul needed, and I didn't even realize it. The overwhelmingly peaceful environment that has been intentionally built at Heroes Ridge at Raven Rock filled my cup in ways I didn't even know were needed. Trudy had phenomenal communication throughout the whole experience and paid close attention to detail. Cindy and Lisa shared and poured into our group while we had the opportunity to relax and reset. The space and activities coordinated allowed us in the group to pour life and honesty and hard truths into one another. I have been impacted more than I expected. The views were incredible the peace was tangible. There was a lot of laughter, tons of connection, and needed healing.
I arrived at Heroes Ridge for a Caregivers Retreat on Thursday, Oct. 12. I mistakenly thought it would be an educational retreat on how to be a better caregiver. I immediately (and thankfully) learned that I was wrong. The retreat was all about relaxing, having fun, and bonding with other caregivers. Every detail was taken care of for us, so the attendees were pampered and didn't have to do a thing. Beautiful and equipped cabins were provided, delicious meals were prepared and served, and wonderful plans were made for us. I did not need to make a single decision, plan anything, or take care of anyone or anything for 4 days and it was amazing! I didn't have to do dishes, do any cleaning or even make decisions on what I wanted to do every day. It was a glorious 4 days that I will treasure forever. I am blessed by the friendships that I made with the other ladies and we plan to keep in contact and hopefully all get together again soon.
Cindy, Lisa, Katie, and Trudy are absolutely incredible women who give so very much of themselves, expecting nothing in return. They are all such a tremendous blessing to everyone they meet. I am thankful beyond words for this wonderful experience! I would recommend this for all caregivers, many who don't even realize how much they need an experience like this.
I mentioned to Cindy (The Founder & CEO) that riding a horse was one of my "bucket list" items and she said she would make it happen and she did! I have wanted to ride a horse my entire life and the joy that came from that experience was magical. My new friends were happy for me and supported me since I was a little scared of this new experience. It was truly a dream come true.
I also got to pet the horses, feed them, and walk one of them, which was such a joy. The lovely ladies even convinced me to participate in karaoke, which I was not planning to do. We all bonded in ways that I couldn’t have imagined. I felt self-conscious at first because I am older than the other ladies. That didn’t matter to anyone and we all got along very well, with no personality issues whatsoever. We also had a paint night, massages, and so much more! I can't say enough about this incredible retreat! Thank you all so very much for allowing me to attend and for everything you all did to make it such a special experience!
My experience with Operation Second Chance Heroe’s Ridge at Raven Rock was like none I ever had. I was invited to a Caregiver retreat. I had not been away from my family in 10 years. So I knew this was something that I needed. The minute we arrived I felt at peace. There was this calming feeling vibe the first 2 days of being at Heroe’s Ridge. It was a feeling like I had only felt for an hour or so back at home and that was like once every 6 months. This feeling lasted for two days and I was the most Amazing feeling I had not had in a. Long time. It was that feeling that I had no responsibilities, I didn’t have to take care of my husband or our kids. I didn’t have to drive someplace as I’m always driving everyday. I didn’t have to think of what to make for dinner, I didn’t have to do laundry it was the one time I did not have to do anything except breathe! I never get to just relax in my everyday life. It’s something I have longed for and I wasn’t even expecting to feel the way I did but it was the most Wonderful feeling in the world. The kindness of Cindy, Lisa, Katie and the volunteers was just the best feeling in the world. They truly made me feel loved, cared for and they genuinely treated me like family! I loved every minute of my stay at Heroe’s Ridge. The Wonderful Caregivers that I was able to meet and connect with was just the icing on the cake. Connecting and sharing with complete strangers but it felt more like a family reunion. I will never forget my experience at Heroe’s Ridge. The day I left as we were driving out I took a deep breath out. I left a piece of my heart at Heroe’s Ridge and will forever be grateful for the love and experiences I made there. Thank you from
The bottom of my Heart!

I just recently heard about this wonderful organization and had a great opportunity. Leading up to the time of leaving I had a lot of bad things happen which made it very difficult to attend, but I absolutely hate not attending something I committed to. During this weekend I was isolated from all my daily struggles and quickly reminded that great people still exists in our crazy society. This is an amazing organization and the people are even better.
I have so many people to thank for putting this wonderful retreat together for us… Cindy, Lisa, Sandy, Greg, all the people from Operation Second Chance, the donors, the workers, the volunteers… I can’t thank you enough for everything! We had so many fun activities and things to explore to include: trail riding on ATV’s, tie-dying, the rodeo, horse back riding, bonding with other veterans around the fire, archery, carriage rides through Gettysburg, swimming, and much more.. I can’t say enough kind words about Cindy and all the workers and volunteers. They truly love our veterans and made us feel right at home, like family. We had a place to relax, get away from all the craziness of everyday life, and just have fun! Our family is truly blessed and none of this would be possible without Operation Second Chance and their donors/ volunteers… so thank you from our family.

Our family of 4 spent a weekend out at Raven Rock and had an amazing time. The variety of activities, home-cooked meals, the laid back setting, and the ability to walk around the property freely was beyond our expectations. A perfect mix of group activities while also allowing free time.
Cindy and her staff thought of everything imaginable to make us feel at home. We truly felt like we were with family while we were there!
Thank you to every single person involve and donated to the blessing that was provided to my family. I found myself in a very bad place with my mortgage company and my sanity. They came through for me in my time of need. There are no words to express how grateful I am for the financial assistance that was provided by Second Chance and those who donate. Please know that your donations are helping veterans like myself and all over that are struggling to make ends meet.
A big shout out to Stephanie Albrecht for making this whole process as easy and comforting as possible.
Just leaving the Womens Veteran Retreat at Heroes Ridge. What an unforgettable experience full of gratitude and sincere appreciation from the Staff and the CEO, Cindy. Once I submitted the application, the staff was extremely responsive to the process and once we arrived at Heroes Ridge everyone was extremely attentive. This Retreat was so greatly planned, we were pampered, loved and appreciated from the moment we stepped on the grounds. The time here, helped me by getting me out of my day to day hustle and bussle, gave me quality time with other Combat Veterans facing similar challenges as I, and gave me the healing opportunity with the horses and animals on the land. Cindy was so embracing to us and dedicated wholeheartedly to the care of all Veterans. She gave me the much time needed to be with horses and I felt like I had a purpose in life again. This organization, is so much needed in our Veteran community and I"m super grateful for the few days I had to be a part of this Retreat.
I am an Amry veteran, and single mother of two kids. I contacted Operation Second Chance as a last resort due to my financial crisis. I submitted my application, and they were very responsive to my request for assistance. They approved me for financial assistance in one day, and saved my utilities from being shut off. I can't tell you how grateful I am for this organization, and to all of their donors. Without them, and you, this wouldn't have been possible. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
OSC in Maryland is one if the best place with best staffs for veterans with PTSD or depression or both and other injuries. Cindy is one of the most humbled and supportive person I've ever meet. I feel like I meet a god mom even though I lost my mom long time ago. She is the best and all her staffs were great! Her two dogs, ranger and Lexxie were great. If you're looking to support this non-profit organization, please do so. They are doing great work helping disabled veterans and their family.
We are so thankful for Operation Second Chance! We couldn't be more grateful.
I am a disabled veteran that discharged from Active Duty in 2015. Since then I met my wife and we had our first child together in 2019. In January of 2023 we heard the news for the first time that no one wants to hear and it would forever change our lives. Our child was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). My wife is a stay at home parent and since January we have had numerous out of pocket expenses for our child's treatment, I've had to take time off work for my Childs medical appointments and hospital trips. Due to this, making ends meet has been tough. We were put in contact with Operation Second Chance, and they so graciously aided us in these difficult times. It has been extremely stressful worrying about the health of our child while also worrying about bills and new expenses. Because of Operation Second Chance they have made these difficult times much easier. We can not thank this organization enough for their assistance. Their generosity is such a blessing for those who served our country in times of need. Thank you Operation Second Chance
I'm a newly medically retired veteran. Even though I'm a service-connected veteran, my claims are currently still being processed. After a couple of unexpected emergencies ate through my savings, I found myself in a tight spot. I reached out to Operation Second Chance to see if they would be willing to help out however they could while I'm still in this claims processing limbo.
I thought that the best case scenario would be that I would receive a couple hundred dollars to help me with groceries, and if I had been correct then I still would've been immensely thankful to them. The help I actually received went above and beyond my highest expectations.
Operation Second Chance actually provided me enough money so that I could not only cover my rent, but also all my utilities. I was dumbfounded when I received the notice of how much money they committed to helping me. Thanks to this help I was able to breathe a sigh of relief and not fall behind any of my expenses.
I am forever thankful to them, and I hope that they continue to do great work and assist any other veterans that find themselves in a similar situation.
I greatly thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
I was having a really tough time financially because I’m constantly in court fighting for sole custody of my kids. I honestly didn’t know how my rent would get paid. Someone referred me to Operation Second Chance. I filled out my application at like 10am, sent a follow up email around 1030am to make sure they received my application… when I tell you that before 11am they had squared my rent away and all my worries went away! They saved me!
It was our honor to attend a family retreat at Heroes Ridge. This is a great non profit organization. From the time we arrive untill we left we felt the love and felt welcome all the time. Vanessa, Cindy, Katie, Miss Lisa and every single person who helps with the retreat are amazing. The food was great. The cabin was great. I couldnt have asked for more in our first family retreat. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for helping this family have a much needed good time. Hope we meet again in the future.
I attended the Battle Buddy retreat at Raven Rock. The people that work at OSC are amazing. The whole experience was incredible. The cowboy therapy was life changing. I can't thank them enough for everything.
Operation Second Chance helped me while going through some really hard financial times. My electricity was at risk of being turned off and my family and I didn't know what to do. Thanks to OSC that is now one less thing we have to stress about while going through these times.
As a wounded veteran life can sometimes be a bit complicated. I recently started attending a college to start my new life. However when transferring from one university to a new the VA screwed up my housing allowance which put my family of 7 in a very tight spot. Operation second chance was more than willing to come in and help us out with our mortgage. I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity and your assistance during this difficult time.
I attended the Battle Buddy retreat Heroes Ridge at Raven Rock. I am truly greatful for everyhting that was provided, amazing food, some fun life experances and meeting a group of extraodanary gentlemen. OSC is truly an amazing orginization.
Staff is amazing, kind hearted and genuine. Everything OSC does for military, the veteran community, and emergency responders is simply awesome. My family and I enjoyed every second we had while at Heroes Ridge. The experience was fantastic and the atmosphere was far more than refreshing.
O.S.C. is a wonderful organization that goes above and beyond. Would highly recommend to anyone.
I was facing eviction and second chance took care of everything quickly and promptly. Everyone I spoke with was more than kind and pleasant to talk to. They are more than amazing and I don’t think they realize how amazing they are and there aren’t enough words to express my gratitude and thanks to everyone there.
My family and I had the absolute best time on our family retreat at Heroes Ridge. It was our first time ever on a retreat. I can not say enough about the amazing time we had, the growth and healing we made as a family, and the friends we made along the way. It was an honor to be a part of OSC’s family retreat.
I want to thank yall from the bottom of our hearts. We would not have a home, electricity, a vehicle to get our children around in or food in our home. You were there when we needed the most help and the lowest time in our lives. You all have changed our lives. Thank you Thank you Thank you
We were honored to attend a family retreat along with our Grandson. From the moment we arrived at 10:30 pm in the pouring rain, Cindy met us to take us to our cabin, she had drinks and a pizza waiting for us as we had missed dinner. Every single person who helps with OSC is amazing. The volunteers are so happy and gracious. (they even had flowers in our cabin for our anniversary) Each one made a point to speak to us every day they were there to see if we needed anything. There were so many activities to participate in, petting zoo, bounce house, horse riding, swimming, painting, ATV's, etc. We stayed as busy as we wanted. It was so nice to stand on our deck and look over the peaceful valley. We were able to spend some quality time with our Grandson and help him to learn about others in similar situations. We left OSC with our hearts full and at peace. Thank you so very much for all the work you do.
We have had the honor of being involved with Operation Second Chance since 2009. They are truly the most incredible nonprofit around! They meet so many unmet needs in the Veteran community with the variety of programs and retreats they offer. This organization truly gets to the heart of the matter and wants to see our Veterans move forward with life. As times are evolving OSC is evolving as well. The opening of their retreat center, Heroes Ridge at Raven Rock, exemplifies OSC understanding what the Veteran community needs. My family and I have been blessed to attend retreats here and are simply blown away! To be surrounded by other Veteran families, who simply just get it and every detail planned for us while at this amazing retreat center nestled in the woods, was exactly what we needed. The world continues to spin normally after your loved one is injured defending our beloved country for everyone but you. But OSC gives your family the opportunity to be with others where you to our understood, that is a gift that will forever be priceless.
Amazing weekend with amazing people who LOVE our veterans and their families. Operation Second Chance along with Cindy and her team have been a blessing in our lives for over a decade. Thank you for all that you do!

I had the absolute best time at Heroes Ridge for a Caregiver retreat. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The property is breath taking and the weekend was exactly what I needed for self care and to recenter as a wife and caregiver to my wounded veteran husband.
I had a wonderful time on the staff retreat at Heroes Ridge at Raven Rock. Cindy is the most giving and nurturing person I have ever met. She made you feel like you were at home and made sure we were all taken care of. We were able to bond and discuss how we can improve as a team. We also got to enjoy each other and see some faces that we haven't seen in years. I had the best few days with some wonderful and amazing women. My favorite memories of the trip were sitting around the fire and doing the horse carriage ride through Gettysburg. I have never had as many laughs as I did this past weekend. It was well needed and i am forever grateful. I will never forget the memories made.
I have spent many years since my time in Iraq feeling like I was still behind enemy lines. Due to a failure of the system, it took me many years to begin receiving much needed help for my combat related injuries. I had no idea the resources were out there. When a family tragedy devastated me and caused me to fall on hard times, Operation Second Chance swiftly moved in to provide much needed assistance to help me get back on track and the strength to keep fighting. My family and I will be forever grateful for the help and hope you have given us.

We had an awesome ski trip sponsored by Operation Second Chance. We had never skied until two years ago when OSC took us on our first ski trip. Now the family is hooked! Thank you so much!

The ski retreat that was made possible by OSC was one of the best experiences my family and I could have asked for. The opportunity to try something new and fun while being along side other veterans and their families is really priceless. For the few days that we were there we were able to forget the stressors of home life and just enjoy each other’s company. Thank you to OSC for making this possible.
Words are not enough of how grateful my family and I are with Operation Second Chance. Time and time again, they are always there when you needed them the most. To be able to experience skiing with the family at Liberty Resort was amazing, but the time spent at the Heroes Ridge with my family, with Cindy & Lexi, Katie and Tim, the volunteers, and the other Veterans and their family, were phenomenal!
Thank you OSC for this second chance to bond with my family when I almost lost them during my troubled and challenging times. Forever grateful.

At this very challenging time, Operation Second Chance, gave me and my family a great opportunity to enjoy, relax and bond for 4 days at the Lake House in SC! I am forever grateful to this program and to the 2 recreational coordinators, Lisa Lourake and Katie Sanders, for making this possible. Just being at the Lake House gave me a sense of peacefulness within. The quiet location, the water in front of the house is so relaxing and is a great therapy for someone who has a hard time sleeping. Again, thank you for those amazing 4 days!

I applied for an amazing retreat at Heroes Ridge in November, and hoped to get in. My children have been snowboarding locally, and I really wanted to escape to nature. When I heard we were accepted and we would be going it seemed too good to be true. We really needed this retreat to bond as a family. My kid's recently lost their cousin in November and death is a hard thing for children their age to understand. The love and positivity with which we were welcomed was like a warm embrace. As a caregiver, I felt like I could breathe. Someone was caring for me. Cindy and Lisa really made the place feel like a home away from home. Katie and her husband gave me the confidence to try the skiing lessons and I had wonderful conversations with both of them. I also loved talking to other families and hope to continue building those friendships. Many citizens do not realize that when a soldier is injured at war, the fight is not left in a foreign land;It is brought home. As a purple heart family, life is challenging every day. We try to be optimistic, but we often feel defeated. Organizations like Operation Second Chance gives us the hope and renewal we need to continue the fight.
hi I my name is Chris. My family and I fell behind on a bill and with my wife working in healthcare and with the covid vaccine mandate. She switched job so she don’t have to get it. So I emailed Cindy and asked if they could help and she said yes. I am so thankful for this group of people. We love you all.
My name is Andrew and I fell behind with few bills including my car payment which I honestly thought was going to end up repossessed leaving me without transportation for my family. I called operation second chance and spoke to Stephanie which helped me along the way and was very professional and helped with my auto payment without any delay. This organization is such a blessing and I’m truly great for for the help they provided to myself know I can breathe a lot better knowing there’s always good people and organization out here for service men and woman
I really appreciate the help I recieved after being turned down by other organizations. This organization was a blessing for me.
I am blown away by Operation Second Chance with their willingness, ability, and timeliness.
After serving in the Army for 17 years with tours to Bosnia, World Trade Center, and Iraq, I have come down with an autoimmune disease. This autoimmune is related to my service and deployment to Ground Zero in NY. Unfortunately, this disease has been so debilitating that I am unable to work a typical job. Falling behind in bills, our only family vehicle was about to be repossessed. Operation Second Chance stepped in and paid for my missed auto loan payments. This allowed us a bit of breathing room and the ability to catch up.
As I am often thanked for my service to our country, it is my turn to thank the financial supporters of Operation Second Chance!
A fantastic Veteran organisation! Great Veteran support from beginning to end of the process. Operation Second Chance save me and my family from becoming homeless, they are really one of the best charity organisation around. They go the extra mile at every stage. I would recommend them unreservedly!! Thank you Operation Second Chance!!
I can’t thank operation second chance and Ms. Stephanie enough. The assistance provided help my family and I out so much and now can breathe! The help came at a time where I wasn’t sure what to do, but without hesitation operation second chance made things happen!
I can't say "Thank you" enough to Operation Second Chance Inc. and Ms. Stephanie. She was very patient, understanding and very helpful throughout my stressful time. My vehicle needed a transmission and with the help of Ms. Stephanie I was able to get my vehicle fixed. Now I can continue to seek employment and put my life together again piece by piece.
THANK YOU Operation Second Chance

I feel that Operational Second Chance Inc, does an honable thing by helping veterans wit Chanceh grants. I never thought as a decorted combat soldier, that I would have any issues adjusting, and reintergrating back to being a civilian at all.
After the support of your platoon, etc goes seperate ways. It's nice to know that organization like Operational Second are around for support.
THank You
Operation Second Chance at Raven Rock was an amazing experience! I was fortunate enough to experience this with my veteran brothers. We bonded and strengthened our brotherhood though horseback riding, ATV's, and power yoga around some of the most breathtaking landscapes imaginable. The property was vast and the living spaces are five stars. Cindy and her family were amazing hosts, they litterally made us feel like family. I recommend this experience for any veteran looking to bond with fellow veterans, family, or find their bearings and reset.
Where do I start….
Operation Second Chance at Raven Rock was such an adventure! Being with 5 of my closest Veteran brothers, we were able to forget about all our problems and experience true tranquility with zero judgement from each other or staff. When we arrived, staff greeted us like family with open arms and even some tears. I was not expecting that at all!! The activities included horse riding and roping, quads through nature with some of the most beautiful views, basketball court, recreation room with pool table, tv, air hockey and more! I was soooo sore after riding the horses on the trails but woke up Saturday to breakfast and the yoga. Oh my I needed that!! Soreness GONE! I loved how we were able to make and change plans as needed. If me and someone else wanted to ride quads but others wanted to swim, then that’s what we did! Even pouring rain didn’t stop us on the trails. It was so refreshing!! The cabins are amazing and have everything you need. The dinning hall and kitchen was open the whole time and filled with snacks, drinks and just a spot to sit and relax. I would recommend any event OSC has to offer. They do so with full hearts and show us Veterans the upmost respect and you can feel the love and authenticity. We even welcomed Cindys son Kevin into the Kern County Veteran Brotherhood cause he was always there when we needed him. Even at Midnight he’s come into the recreation room and say, “anybody want some hamburgers?” He literally read our minds all weekend!! I hated leaving my new family but left knowing I will be back! Thank you Operation Second Chance for everything you do for our nations Veterans. I look forward to our time together in the near future.
Since I separated from the Air Force I have been battling depression really bad. From barely getting out of bed to attempting suicide. The last few years have really been a struggle to just exist. I hit a really hard spell and fell behind in every aspect of my life after I couldn't leave my room for 26 days. My lights were about to be cut off and and I no matter what I tried it fell through and I was spiraling more and more. Today I got a message that my bill was paid in full and I could only cry. I am beyond grateful. I have 2 teenagers that keep my spirits lifted by just being them and knowing that this was taken care of and I wouldn't have to subject them to that gave me hope. Hope in people that I have not had since before I left the military. Thank you doesn't feel like enough but Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
Rental Assistance: Operation Second Chance (OSC) helped me when I had no where to turn. I was at the point of hopelessness, then I received a phone call telling me they could provide assistance. The relief and thankfulness cannot be put into words. The organization kept the roof over my head and and gave me comfort in knowing I would be safe and sound in having a roof over my head. I thank OSC so very much for the assistance given not only to me but many others who have served our beautiful country. I have attached a picture of myself in uniform, may you have a memory board of those you help. If not at least you can put a face to the veteran you helped.
Great group of patriotic people that are geographically diverse and spread throughout the nation, yet still run seamlessly as if they all worked side by side.
They have folks that really care about you as a veteran, and it’s something that you can feel right away. The organization is fantastic about linking local people within the communities with veteran events so everyone can share the experience together. This is vital to the veteran transitioning to a new life post service; and is instrumental in the future success of our current and former service members.
I travel from florida to Red Lodge Montana. I was pick up at airport by Sr. Bob Larson he made us Feel as we had arrived at home. The way Took care of us for the remainder of the week was above and beyond everything I have seen everything was perfect. The flight fishing trip and all other trips Were top of the class. I recommend this organization to all Veterans.
I recently lost my job and was looking at some rough times ahead with rent due and job searching. As a disabled veteran, I didn't know about Operation Second Chance until I had the American GI Forum - NVOP tell me about them. I was surprised at how quickly they responded and helped pay my rent. This alone gives me and my family relief so I can focus on smaller bills and start working soon. Thank you.
From,
Sandy Reyes and family
I want to thank operation second chance for helping my family during our time of need. The very next day our request was granted and the transaction was made. The staff is truly amazing. They were extremely helpful and understanding. Thank you operation second chance! I am beyond grateful for your help.
I was truly humbled by the opportunity to be able to attend the 2021 Turkey Hunt in up state New York. I fell in love with the country up there and got to meet some great individuals. I was so thankful to get the chance to hunt, be in the great outdoors, and to be around the kind of men that have served in a combat theatre and know the meaning of war. We had an amazing time, with some amazing people rattling turkey noggins and reeling in the Walleye up at Lake Ontario. Thank you so much to the people who could make this happen, it was an experience I will never forget!

I attended the Operation Second Chance 2021 Turkey hunt in Upstate New Year and had an amazing time. The support, brotherhood, and experiences shared between participants cannot be beat. I cherish every opportunity that I have to attend an OSC event. This organization is one of the best nonprofit organization on the planet.
Amazing experience; extremely nice people; world class hospitality; gained weight from eating great food; pursuing game; fishing and best of all the bonding and friendships made that will last a life time.
Thank you so much for all that you do!!! New York Turkey hunting was unbelievable and I am forever thankful.
Shot-out to Matt, Brett, Chris and everyone that made this possible.
Respectfully,
Dell
I would like to say thank you everyone on here for you help and support with all thing you help out with. It really helps out when people need it.
We were able to attend the retreat in Red Lodge Montana. I had never been to this State and was very excited to be invited. This is my first time dealing with Operation Second Chance and it was very well organized and helpful. The volunteers and people within this organization have showed an immense amount of dedication and support. Every where I turned they were bending over backwards to accommodate us. The travel and skiing were great, but what I enjoyed as much of all that was the private time with my wife. We really needed this and it honestly helped us reconnect with so much of lifes activities. We were able to spend a lot of time together (even after Covid lockdowns we really didnt spend that much time together)enjoying each other and just talking. We had ample time to ski together with up to 4 volunteers with us at every turn. Bob (site lead) was gracious and wanted to do even more for us, we didnt have to worry about food reservations, where to go or what to do everything was taken care of for us. We met another couple o]whom we plan on keeping in contact with and the other guests were just as friendly. The town city councilwoman met us the first night along with the Mayor on the second night and what a treat that was. Over all just a bunch of great people I could be around every day!
I would like to express a special thank you to Operation 2nd Chance! During this pandemic, my son and I experienced some hardships and O2C saved the day. With the many struggles our economy is facing, I’m just so grateful that the organization was able to assist us during our time of need.
I had the pleasure of meeting Andy Selga last year at a dinner event he sponsored here in Bakersfield Ca. since then he has invited to sponsored and non sponsored events around town and I have made a few friends. I have always been a loner but Andy has made me come out of my comfort zone. Thank Andy, and thank you O.S.C. for every thing you do.
I'm so grateful for the help that Operation Second Chance Inc has provided me with, especially during such times as this. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart ❤ Keep up the good work
Special thanks from me to OperationSecondChance for paying my mortgage. I really appreciate it. Thank you again!
Had a really hard time paying my rent because my military pay check was really messed up after a move. Thousands of dollars in the hole for something that should have been paid for really hurt the kids for Christmas and birthdays. The money given to me for my rent really let off some of the stress and anxiety right before Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am very thankful to Operation Second Chance.
They are truly a friend when you need one. They had a meal with us and where there to show us appropriation.
I don't know where to start! I am beyond grateful for Operation Second Chance. As a Veteran business owner things slowed down tremendously due to the economic effects of COVID-19 and this awesome organization was able to answer the call. I am in awe at the timing and super appreciative of what they were able to do for me and my family. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
We are so incredibly thankful for the help that Operation Second Chance has given us. Our family has been through so much over the last 6 months. We have encountered some very hard times and to top it off, I am out of work so our home hit another wall with our income coming in was cut short.
The level of worry, stress and fear of how we are going to pay rent or the electric and water bills was weighing heavy on us. I couldn't believe it when my husband, who is the Vet, told me they were going to help us! A huge heavy weight on our shoulders just got lighter! I cannot begin to express my sincerest gratitude to them.
Thank you for lifting that weight off our family.
i reached out thinking they will most likely not be able to help me as I'm not the veteran directly. My wife is. But they did. Not only did they, they went above and beyond to fufil my request quickly. I appreciate all that you do to honor our vets. I can't wait to surprise my her :)
Hello my name is Tim I have a tbi and ptsd I recently took in my blind 82 year old father we had build a bathroom for him asap operation second chance took some of the pressure of the build makin it so we could finish bathroom my father and children want to thank u all for help us through this hardest of time givin us a fighting to stay ahead
I was quite surprised by the quickness in response to my housing need. Within just a few days I received help from Operation Second Chance with a much needed mortgage payment on my home. No wonder OSC is rated top 10 as a non profit for helping us Veterans. Thank your OSC and those that donate to this effort.!
No more cold showers!!!!
Having 3 kids, my husband and I had to assign and stagger shower times. Our 29 (yes...29!) gallon water heater ran out of hot water super fast! The next person needed to wait one hour or so to take a shower. My kids are ages 18, 14 and 11. Getting them to adhere to their assigned time, was like trying to herd a bunch of cats...chaos and madness!
Operation Second Chance graciously provided for a new, up to date water heater. After the plumbers arrived to replace the water heater, something was found out of code, as well as, water damage from pipes leaking. Repairing and replacing these additional problems made the overall cost increase. Panicking, I did not anticipate the entire amount to be covered. Thanks so much Stephanie!!
Operation Second Chance gave my family and I a second chance for safe and reliable hot water. My home and my heart are comforted. Thank you so much for lifting this burden!
By the way, my children still think they have to take quick showers. I haven’t told them about the new water heater. I may keep it this way to save on the bills! Lol.
I met Ms.Stephanie A via telephone on 7/1/2020. My initial impression was, that she was a people person, professional ,knowledgeable and showed exceptional compassion to my situation.
However, my initial perception she greatly exceeded all of those. Within a day she was able to assist my family and I with much needed assistance. I’m extremely thankful for this organization
along with Ms.Cindy and Ms.Stephanie.
I truly believe Ms.Stephanie is a valuable asset to the organization and she exemplifies what “Exceptional” customer service is and should be!
I was affected by Covid 19... and just trying to make it until work started again. In a troubling time when I thought there was no help operation second chance helped me get back on my feet while I was getting back to work
"With tears of joy running down my cheeks this very moment. I want to take this time to thank the administrative assistant that handled my request when I was seeking help with my mortgage payment. It's very rare that I would fall behind on my finances, but given the circumstances, I learned that any situation can easily become out of our control even more so during this pandemic outbreak. Had I not reached out to my department of veteran services advocate, I would have never known who to reach out to for financial assistance. Due to my representatives' knowledge of Operation 2nd Chance, my heart is warm, steady, and properly beating w/out skipping a beat which means no more hi-tempo anxiety interference and cloudy thoughts. Without any doubt, OSC handled my request so quickly that I could not believe the speed, time, and manner in which it was handled. All I can say is that I am beyond words with this matter and grateful that people of such candor are what make this world a far better place and veterans like myself to continue working with non-profit organizations like OSC. Again, thanks a million for all your help that came at the right time when I needed it most."
My husband, a U.S Army Paratrooper and combat veteran, lost his battle to PTSD on 01/08/2020. Operation Second Chance helped me in so many facets. In the midst of grief and turmoil; I felt as thought I had people in my corner. I can never repay the amount of help they have given to me and our three year old son. I will never forget the generosity and compassion that surrounds this entire corporation. I feel like I am forever apart of the OSC family. I can never articulate the words of gratitude that I have for everything that you do.
There is nothing more heart wrenching than knowing that you can't afford a mortgage payment for a home that you worked so hard to buy and fearing it could be lost.
There is nothing more heart warming than feeling that you can get help and knowing that your house will remain a home because help with a mortgage payment was given to you.
I am so grateful for Operation Second Chance and the chance they gave me to stay home sweet home.
I want to take the time to say thank you for everything y’all have done for me , you guys are life savers I was literally so stressed out and you guys came in and saved me I don’t know what I would have done without y’all god bless you guys . ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I wanted say thank you to operantion second chance. I was facing a hardship and they answered my need and helped me and my family. I am thankful from the bottom of my heart.
We are very grateful with Operation Second Chance. I had lost my job a couple of months ago and the bills and my rent were piling up. My health condition was preventing me from getting a job and OSC helped us out with the financial assistance we needed. There are no words to express our gratitude for the help provided and for the great things you are doing to help other veterans as myself.
Operation Second Chance is an incredible nonprofit with an amazing group of caring volunteers. It is invaluable to have time away from the normal stressors of life, and to be surrounded by other veterans who share similar experiences. Healing through learning difficult tasks as a group, such as skiing, is a beneficial way to grow and get to know one another. Being able to escape to paradise in Montana with my wife and meet other couples was helpful beyond words following my recent injury. We truly had the time of our lives. The entire retreat was relaxed and every detail was taken care of allowing us to fully focus on each other. This is an experience we would not have had until we retired, and OSC made this dream a reality. We cannot express how thankful and touched we are by all the caring individuals who worked tirelessly to put this extensive event on. Thank you!
I wanted to say thank you to Operation Second Chance. I am an OIF veteran who is 100% service connected for PTSD. The one regret I have about PTSD is the effect its had on my family. Being so withdrawn leads to a disconnection of the family. I was contacted by Lisa who offered my family and I a retreat in Sarasota,Fl. My children were lucky enough to be on winter break which allowed us to attend. The resort, weather and everything about the trip was awsome! While I definitely needed to get out of the house, the gratification of seeing my kids enjoying themselves on the beach was truly a blessing! Thank you Operation Second Chance!!
Operation Second Chance made a significant positive difference for a homeless veteran, who simply needed help with making first month's rent, to get into affordable housing. Securing housing was paramount to gain the stability he needed to begin working on other treatment and educational goals. As a Social Worker, I appreciated how straightforward and simplified their referral process is. I also appreciated how a member of their staff, Cindy McGrew, reached out to me promptly and warmly, with clear dedication to assisting veterans. Their turn around time was within hours of submitting the online application. This was so helpful, seeing as our veteran had limited time in which to secure his lease. Their assistance made all the difference for my veteran, as he will not have to deplete what little savings he has to get out of his car and into an apartment.
I am so thankful to have been referred to Operation Second Chance for assistance. I am a transitioning Air Force Veteran who has had the toughest and most challenging time adjusting as a civilian. I thought I planned accordingly for this change, but not one of my plans has worked out. My family and I were facing eviction. I am educated, knowledgeable and passionate about what I do, but everyday I come home, i was afraid we wouldn't have a place to live. it is so difficult to look a my children and not feel as though I have failed them. Operation Second Chance understood the challenges I was facing, they accepted my circumstance with open arms, did not judge and assisted me quickly. I now feel relieved that my family and I will not be evicted and I can focus on finding employment. They are easy to communicate with. To all Veterans, if you are facing financial challenges, I urge you to reach out to this organization. The challenges you face does not have to determine the rest of life. It is just a stomping block. Thank you OSC Inc for your assistance.
This organization really exceeded my expectations. They were very helpful during an extremely difficult time for me. I will be donating to this organization as soon as I am able because I appreciate what they do for Veterans!
A great group of amazing people giving back to the veterans in Bakersfield. From BBQs to Axe throwing, they always give us the opportunity to just go out and meet up with other veterans at all the fun events they set up. Looking forward to future of this organization, Truly a Second Chance.
I had a great time with Operation Second Chance Inc, Bakersfield. I got to meet a couple of great Veterans and reconnect with that community. It was a fun activity to unwind and let loose.
This weekend we were blessed to have to opportunity to attend the OSC Ski Retreat at Wisp Resort. Our family had such an amazing time. Neither Ryan, nor our kids had ever been skiing before, but I went as a child. So this experience was new to everyone. Ryan and I really enjoyed watching all three of our oldest children go out and fearlessly tackle that snowy mountain. Our oldest two courageously tackled an even bigger mountain! Witnessing them stretch their limits and accomplish something they’ve never done before was incredibly rewarding to watch. Ryan was a little worried about skiing but he geared up and by the end of the first day he was having a great time. It was definitely a new and rewarding experience for him, as it helped him step out of his comfort zone.
One of the things I love about OSC events is connecting with other combat military members and their families. We live north of Baltimore, and surprisingly there are not many military members in our community. This past weekend, it was very refreshing and encouraging to spend time with other families and connect with them. The children all had a wonderful time and connected immediately, which was very heartwarming too see as well. It was really enjoyable to have this shared memorable and adventurous experience with our new friends.
Katie and Tim were incredibly accommodating and attentive to all of our needs. They encouraged us to get out there and try a little more. Katie helped with the baby so Ryan and I could ski together. It was a welcomed break and so fun discovering something new as a couple!
Thank you so much for blessing us with this retreat! My family couldn’t be more thankful. We all benefited from the time together to connect as a family unit, just the six of us, without the noise of everyday life. It was an experience that we will all cherish, and I think we now have a few skiers in the family! Thank you OSC and the Sanders!
During the holiday season this year it was difficult for my family. After relocating up north trying to get back on track it was not easy. I am so thankful for Operation Second Chance, honestly I feel like me and my family were given just that, and we are forever grateful. This was truly a blessing, the warm welcome and the enthusiasm OSC displayed meant so much to us. Once we are able, I envision that my family can be a blessing to Operation Second Chance.
There comes a time in everyone's life where you will need help, whether it be in the form of a shoulder to lean on, emotional support, or financial needs. For me this came at a time when I had everything lined up, had been provided the skills to cope with life after many traumatic events, dealing with separating from the military, injury both physical and mental. Then I almost lost everything, literally everything. My case manager got me in contact with Operation Second Chance, and within a week of turning in the appropriate documents I received a phone call telling me that support was on the way. After serving 15 years in the military, I was institutionalized to know that on certain days pay would happen, PT would happen, and what uniform to wear was on track, but days away from medical retirement I was broke, had no money left in the bank because of the hurricane of life events that erupted, and was just waiting for the next heart break to hit.
Thank you Operation Second Chance, you are truly a blessing from above. When the day comes and I am stable I will do my best to ensure that this organization remains funded.
Respectfully,
Jayden
Operation Second Chance is absolutely the most motivated charity I’ve ever had the pleasure to assist me. Not a single other charity responded with the determination and professionalism necessary to help me move forward and begin life again. Within two days my water and gas bills were paid. Being a veteran with PTSD means certain things can stress me to the point of disabling me. Having no hope to pay utilities necessary for my home threw me into a dark place. Operation second chance’s swift response and assistance saved me in so many ways. May God bless them for their help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I spent 18 years in my career and became unemployed for the first time in my life. We felt like Hope was lost until Operation Second Chance helped us with our mortgage payment. It was life saving in many ways. I thought we were going to lose our house and become homeless this holiday season. This organization is incredibly helpful and generous and very responsive and professional. I cannot thank them enough for the opportunity they provided us. I am going to find a way to pay it forward in the future!
My family and I are going through a rough transition period this holiday season. Just when I felt like I was drowning, Operation Second Chance Inc, threw me the lifeline I needed to help me hold on just a bit longer. When it feels like so many other things are going wrong or even like the situation is hopeless, it's good to know that good things can happen and there is a group of people who still genuinely care about veterans and their families in need. I appreciate all the blessings that are coming my way and look forward to the day where I can sign up to pay it forward.
I was struggling with a heating and cooling issue in my apartment. I had to go live in hotel rooms until this situation was resolved. I would like to thank operation second chance for their help. I am truly thankful. It really meant a lot to me. I have been having bad luck as of lately.
I am a Veteran and a Caregiver. Operation Second Chance has helped me remember who I am and find a new appreciation for my service, marriage, and family. There are no words to express my gratitude and appreciation for what OSC has given back to me. The Hunting Retreat for ladies that took place in New York October 2019 will forever be a turning point in my life.
I am a struggling working army veteran who is caught up in bills due to unforeseen circumstances, and Operation Second Chance helped pay my utilities which were very far behind and a day away from being shut off.
Thank you Operation Second Chance. Seriously my family and I are extremely grateful and fortunate to have been directed to you.
I am absolutely grateful for this program! I literally cried when I got the news that the organization would help me with some assistance. I am forever grateful and my family and I really appreciate the support.
Thank you so much!
Thank you all very much for everything that you do! The amount of love and fun I received is immeasurable. Lisa and Dan made me feel like a part of their families and the memories I made over the weekend will stay with me forever. You guys are the greatest!!!
When I was between a rock and a hard ride place this nonprofit charity didn’t hesitate nor waster anytime they made my hardship their number one priority to make sure me and my kids remained in a warm secure home. I will always be thankful for this help and very much thankful because I didn’t know where to turn. They made me feel like I was heard and they went over and beyond.
God bless
I want to Thank OSC for coming thru for me and my family. We truly appreciate the kindness u bestowed upon us at our time of need. I will shout ur organization out from the rooftops because y'all are truly deservant.
To Operation Second Chance,
I just want to say a great big “Thank You” from the bottom of my heart for the help I received in making ends meet. This experience really touched my heart. This experience has really touched my heart. As someone who had been self sufficient for most of my adult life, I had never thought that I would see the day where I couldn’t provide for my basic needs. As a people, when we have plenty, we do not stop long enough to realize that life can have its ups and downs, and that some do not have the luxury of what we call basic human dignity items, something that we have at our fingertips every day, such as a place to call home. My thanks again for your assistance in my time of need.

I retired in August and ran into a financial emergency that required me to pull from my Mortgage payment. Awaiting my Disability payments to start left me in a really tough jam. Operation Second Chance managed to assist me in a timely manner and provided great customer service. They provided my kids school with the balance owed for their lunches which was well over $800! They are truly heaven sent and I will definitely give to this organization so that they can continue helping Veterans and their families ❤️❤️
Operation Second Chance assisted me with my September rent when no other organization could approve me during my financial hardship. My only vehicle that I depend on daily needed repairs and I had to struggle making the decision between paying for repairs on my only transportation or paying my rent. However, as soon as I reached out for help to Operation Second Chance they approved me within the same day and for that I’m forever grateful! Words can’t express how much I appreciate them for taking that burden off my shoulders in having to choose between two necessities for my daughter and I. I would HIGHLY recommend OSC to any Military Member and/or Veteran during unforeseen hardships. Thank you again!
My only vehicle needed repairing. I reached out to Operation Second Chance and they helped with over 60 percent of the requested amount. Thank you OSC!!
We were in need of immediate assistance. When I tell you they helped immediately they helped us on the same day we asked for assistance. We are so grateful for the help. If any veterans and families are in need, we highly recommend Operation Second Chance. Without their assistance we don't know what we would have done. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
OSC has helped my family & I in a time of need! My son was wounded in combat in Afghanistan & needs a caregiver while he is in the WTB unit. OSC has helped us pay some bills, has helped my husband with groceries & Cindy the Founder & owner of OSC checks in on my son & husband to make sure they are ok! I am thankful that there are organizations like OSC that are out there for families that are in my situation. My family & I went on a retreat to Tilghman Island with OSC. It was nice to get out of the WTB unit, away from dr’s appts and get an opportunity to relax & enjoy life with our wounded soldier & family! Words can’t express how thankful I am! God bless you Cindy & OSC staff! The Lopez family
Operation Second Chance gave my wife and I (both veterans) the amazing oportunity to go on a motorcycle retreat to the Black Hills Rally in South Dakota. We were sceptical at first but when we arrived we were welcomed to a laid back atmosphere that promoted the mental healing we needed. Through the days of 2 wheeled therapy and the organic atmosphere that enabled us to sit and talk with other veterans at night, we have made huge progress towards releasing our anger and rebuilding our sense of self worth. I am currently building a motorcycle repair shop and I can't wait to be able to contribute and support this style of retreat in rhe next few years. Thank you OSC and the volunteers that made it possible for us!
Words cannot even express how truly thankful I am for OSC. Their financial support while I am currently inpatient at the Hampton VA Medical Center for PTSD and Substance Abuse will always be gratefully cherished. Falling behind on bills in order to address my mental health, was a huge struggle in my progression. Operation Second Chance has alleviated such a weight off our shoulders for me and my family. I will never be able to thank you enough.
Forever Grateful,
Russell Allsbrook
Operation Second Chance is part of the Veterans Reef off Clearwater Beach where the Circle of Heroes stand. There are currently 12 statues standing at the bottom of the ocean with 12 more coming in 2020. Operation Second Chance is now part of the reef after sponsoring one of the statues. Thankful to have had the opportunity to dive the reef yesterday with my heroes, Andrew Lourake and Charlie Lemon. Thank you so much Cindy McGrew.
Identity theft can be a nightmare when it happens to you. Operation Second Chance helped me with a check to apply to my past due rent so that I could have the chance to catch up and become self-sustainable again. Thank you for your help and everything you do Operation Second Chance.
Veteran in Georgia. Waiting on VA to get my 2 BVA grants worked out. Was behind on rent. Operations 2rd change helped me keep my apartment
Operation second chance came through and saved my family during the heat wave that just happened. After suffering a huge theft of funds from my bank account they paid the electric bill so we could make it through this nightmare.
My name is Maria and I'm at a lost for words of how grateful I am for Operation Second Chance to assist me in paying rent that I owed to my landlord. I was at a high risk for becoming evicted out of my apartment in North Jersey. I am a single woman with two small dogs so the thought of being homeless scared me, and made me feel ashamed. It has been a nerve-racking past few months not knowing if I would be evicted or not. If it wasn't for Operation Second Chance, I wouldn't be where I am right now, still in my apartment, and waiting for a full-time job to open up. (I have applied for countless.) Thank you so much, OSC, for what you did. Thank you for your generosity, thank you for helping me, thank you for being so kind. You epitomize what goodness is like. Thank you.
Thank you so much to Operation second Chance Inc. for helping our family assisting with the utility bill. My husband is a disabled veteran and we had to relocate to another apartment due to his severe PTSD and other health related issues that he is battling with, so our expenses added up and they were the ones that helped us out. It is a blessing to know that there’s people in this world that care for our Veterans and don’t forget that we have freedom because of heroes like them and Operation Second Chance promptly assisted. Thank you.
I want to say thank you to Operation Second Chance for helping me with my mortgage payment, it could not have come at a better time. My family and I have been struggling to make it, I am a 100% disabled veteran who served in OIF and OEF. My disability have made it very difficult in my day to day life, but because of organization like this gives us veterans hope. Thank you so much for your blessings.
I am a disabled veteran who is a single mother. I decided to move to a more family oriented state to help with my sever PTSD. Operation Second Chance helped me get on my feet and know there are people out there who care about veterans. Thank you so much OSC....
I have had the honor and privilege to work with this phenomenal group of caring individuals over the past year in providing assistance to our nations hero's. They have been prompt, courteous, and professional with each encounter. I appreciate the work that you do in caring for our veterans. This is a 5 star organization in my book!
I am a Disabled Veteran out of work and single father with 2 infants and was facing eviction. Within that same week I contacted over 20 Organizations to assist me in saving the roof over me and my children's heads and Operation Second Chance organization was the ONLY organization that assisted and saved us in that week. Not only did they assist but do to my depressive situation they relieved me of all my worries and saved the day like Superheroes. I've never seen any organization that would assist so quickly and step out and above the call of their duties to help me and my children the way they did and I am eternally grateful, may God continue to bless each and every one of you and if you are a veteran in crisis please dont hesitate to pickup the phone and call operation second chance organization for the assistance you and your family may need. It could be the life changing assistance you need to push you ahead and eliminate the stresses we as veterans go thru when all else has failed. Again God Bless You and Thank you Operation Second Chance!
This Organization was the only one who came to my rescue in my darkest time of need. I am a Veteran with over 20 years military service and 100%VA rated currently serving as now federal Police for the DOD. The VA garnished all my pay without notice and my government pay was mistakenly taken in a accidental DFAS error I was down to less than 100 dollars to survive. The Operation Second Chance paid my rent within 24hrs and kept me safe in my home without risk of eviction. I owe the fact today I still have a home and piece of mind thanks to this organization.
I found myself and my family in a severe hardship and in the process of losing my home. Operation Second Chance stepped in and was truly a blessing and me and my family are no longer in the process of losing our home.
Operation Second Chance was an answered prayer. My husband is currently going through in patient treatment through the VA medical center for his war related PTSD. I am currently staying at home to take care of our twin babies. We were behind on bills for a couple of months. I prayed and asked God for a miracle to help us take care of some of the bills we just did not have the money to pay. My husband's therapist told him about this organization. We applied and within a couple of days we received notification that all the bills we submitted were paid!! I praise God for the wonderful people at Operation Second Chance. Because of this wonderful blessing, we were able to get back on track with some of our bills.
I am a VA psychologist who works with veterans in residential treatment for PTSD. Many times, the veterans are struggling with multiple life stressors along with serious mental health challenges. One of my residents recently received help from this agency and it was truly a blessing for him and his family. I was amazed by how quickly the assistance was provided. Such an awesome service that Operation Second Chance provides to our nation's heroes!! Many thanks!
I am a veteran with 8 kids, we were about to lose our apartment in a number of days I got a response from Mrs. Vanessa Toner saying that they are going to help us keep our apartment. I am so thankful for Operation second chance and Mrs. Vanessa Toner for responding so quickly and I will be forever grateful. This is such a blessing. I would recommend any veteran that is looking for assistance to contact Operation second chance. Thank you guys so much!
My family and I were days away from being evicted after my accident late last year. We received amazing help from Andrew Lourake and the great people at Operation Second Chance. They were able to help us out and we were able to stay in our apartment. Thank you all, especially Andrew for helping us in our time of need!
What an awesome group with an awesome retreat. It was amazing to just get away from the norm of stress just for a few days
My children’s father passed suddenly on a Monday 03/18/19 with services scheduled for that same Thursday and Friday, leaving us with 2 days and no money to get all 5 of his kids (he also had 3 from his first marriage) and myself to Texas from Virginia, North Carolina and Oregon. This organization not only helped us be able to to get us all there but also made a time that was painful a little more bearable. Had they not stepped in, we all would have missed the funeral. I am so grateful for Operation Second Chance. A friend got this in motion and the lady I worked with for flights worked really late into the evening to make sure all flights were booked and that we had the information we needed. There will never be enough words to express our gratitude for helping us be there to lay him to rest. When the call came through that they were going to be covering all of our flights, I dropped to knees and cried. This organization is amazing and deserves all the recognition in the world for what they do for military families! Thank you OSC!!!
Operation Second Chance is Amazing! Recently I was given the opportunity of a life time with a short time frame to plan the trip. With my upcoming wedding in the mix as well, OSC stepped in to make sure I was able to make the trip to honor a SSG from my unit. With them helping I was able to breath a little bit and I knew I was taken care of. It is very humbling to know that there are still organizations and people in this world that look out for us veterans in time of need. There is no way to express my thankfulness besides to write and say how wonderful this group is! Thank You!!
I was medical retirement from the Military 5 years ago changing my life completely causing my family and I a huge financial hardship. If it wasn't for this organization today I would be homeless. I want to thank this organization for helping me, but giving me hope and faith to keep striving and move forward.
As my husband was seeking care on an inpatient basis at the hospital, Operation Second Chance helped us to keep our home. Not only did they help us to keep a roof over are children's heads, but through their assistance my husband is now able to focus on getting better knowing that his family is going to be ok. God Bless all those that take part in this organization i don't know where we would be right now if it wasn't for you.
I am a Transition Care Manager working with OEF/OIF/OND Veterans who are transitioning from Military to Civilian life after post 911 injuries due to combat deployments. Many of the Veterans I work with, are receiving care in one of our residential treatment facilities, such as our Stress Disorder Treatment Unit for combat related injuries, and we have been so fortunate to have the support of Operation Second Chance, who has supported our Vets, allowing them to continue in treatment, while Operation Second Chance helps the Veterans to pay for a month of rent, or helps them to pay an overdue bill, or a vehicle repair bill, allowing our patients to focus on their treatment and moving forward in their lives. Their assistance has truly been a gift to the Veterans that we work with. Thank you so much, Operation Second Chance and all of their donors and supporters.
I am a Claims Service Officer (CSO) with Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 6 in Hampton, VA. Recently assisted a veteran who came in for assistance for late car payments and late fees. He was very distraught due to recent illnesses and recent divorce. His financial world was imploding. As the total amount needed exceed what we could assist with, I needed to reach out for further assistance. Operation Second Chance had been referred to us previous by the local VVFS, so I checked the website's criteria and verified vet met qualifications. I submitted the application and am glad to say that Operation Second Chance was able to pay a portion of the total which definitely brought the vet's stress level down a bit. I talked to him today and he verified that the car lender received payment. This assist allows some breathing room! Thanks Operation Second Chance. You all are a Godsend - not only to the veterans but to veteran service agencies like the DAV. All of us working together to aid fellow vets is what we need to continue to do!
Kassandra O. Benson
1st Jr. Vice Commander
DAV Chapter 6 (Hampton, VA 23666)
Operation second chance helped my fiance keep his truck, he was two payments behind and thanks to the work of operation second chance the back due was paid off. This has put this family back on the right track with the bills and not having to worry what can wait until next month. They took the stress and lifted off my fiance and this family... I prayed every night for god to show me the way, at first the bad had to happen and then he started placing the people I needed in my life and all that the out come came to this. This has been the best this family has felt in 6 month ... You have no idea how grateful we are for people, places and organizations like this. God bless you all
Recently I was behind on my water and sewage bill because of a water leak that I had. I went through the V.A. and they gave my case to Operation Second Chance, and this organization step in and paid my outrage water bill as well as my electric bill. It was a great help for me and my family to move forward. Because of Operation Second Chance, my children had a wonder a Christmas. Thank Operation Second Chance for helping me and my family to regain being back financial stable. Thank you, Thank you and Thank you.
Sincerely
USMC Veteran
Thank God for Operation Second Chance. In August 2018 i was Hospitalized for a month. I lost My job and had to withdraw from school. I got behind On bills and didn’t know what to do. I served In the Army 8 years so I contacted the VA to see if there were any resources available to help me get back on my feet they directed me to the wounded warriors office in my area who told me about Operation Second chance. In December 2018 I was served With an eviction notice because i was behind on rent. After contacting and filing proper documents with operation Second Chance the same day I was notified that they would help pay my rent. I thank God for this program to help veterans.
Andrew and everyone else at OSC are amazing. Like so many of our brothers and sisters I found myself facing eviction. The VA was taking my compensation check and an auto accident has put me out of work. Andrew and everyone at OSC helped keep me and my family in our home. It’s hard to get back on your feet when you have a family and are limited in what you can do. Operation Second chance saved my family. Thank you so much for everything you guys do!!!!
This holiday season was the toughest for me and my family. I've never thought I will be in a situation where I can't afford to be home. Operation Second Chance stepped in and afforded me the opportunity to do. I would like to thank Leah for contacting me and made Christmas a truly merry Christmas
I am a former SOF Veteran that was wounded on my third combat rotation. Since my separation from the military I have struggled while trying to find my new place in society. After several failed attempts in finding somewhere I though I could belong, I finally stumbled on a program that made sense. This program gave me the ability to use my energy and efforts into helping others, by being trained and eventually hired in a specialty role which combats child exploitation with the intent of reducing and eliminating these horrible crimes.
During my time in the training phase, and after the non-profit group originally designated to potentially support withdrew, I found myself in a financially difficult situation. Despite my stubbornness and virtual inability to ask for help without being forced to do so, Operation Second Chance stepped up to the plate and provided me with a crucial living expense support payment. I can’t express how good they were to me, and how thankful I was to receive the help. This organization is top notch, among the best that I have came across or heard of, and they truly are dedicated to the cause and care greatly about our country’s Veterans.
I found out about this organization through a friend at work. We had a family emergency that put us in a financial bind due to previous medical emergencies that my family was still recovering from. I got a call from the representative and he helped me get the ball rolling. They were very helpful and extremely professional throughout the process. They regularly checked on us to make sure everything was good to go and to see if we needed any assistance that we did not anticipate. The help they gave us, got us back on track and no longer in a financial rough spot. My family and I greatly appreciate the fast and professional help. Thank you doesn't quite say enough.
Operation Second Chance is amazing. My family and I have been struggling since my retirement from the Army and Operation Second Chance helped financially. To be honest if they had not helped my family and I, there would have been no Christmas this year. This financial assistance has given us the ability to finally be caught up on some bills and also gives us some financial breathing room. This organization is by far the best and they truly care and want to help those veterans who truly need assistance. God bless Operation Second Chance and thank you from the bottom of my family’s heart.
Operation second chance came through when no one else would ! Our family is forever grateful for the selfless staff who resolved our problem in a very quick matter with the most respect for our wounded veteran .
I have dealt with chronic knee pain for three years. Following a surgery this year, my knee actually got worse. Extensive physical therapy didn't make a dent. I found a route that I can receive stem cell injections (umbilical) that have shown to relieve pain for others with my symptoms, but Tricare (and most other insurance companies) won't cover the treatment.
Operation Second chance has provided me financial support to help me get the treatment. I am awaiting my treatment now, but I didn't want to delay giving a review any longer. I will provide an update as soon as I get treated.
Thanks Operation Second Chance!
Matt

Thank you for your help and your kindness will forever be remembered and cherished.Thank y'all for wonderful blessing that you given my family we are more then grateful for the gift that you given our family. Alex Brown and Family
Once I came off of active duty, I was not permitted to work due to an injury I acquired. I fell behind on every single bill I had and there was only one way that I knew of to acquire the amount of money I needed to take care of my family... I was going to commit suicide. My SGLI is $400,000 and I knew that my family would be alright. The only thing that saved me was my social worker at the VA (Nikkole Weiss) and this organization. They got me current on my bills and shined a little light at the end of this dark tunnel.
In conclusion all I can say is thank you for giving me another reason to live.
Operation second chance has been of great assistance to my family and I! With their help, we are able to move into our new home. I am forever grateful!
Life Changing Events Happened in the Blink of an Eye!
My family had to transition from me having a full-time job to having no job. I did all I could to just get by. I finally reached out to Mt. Carmel and they connected me to this amazing organization.
Thanks to your help, my family will be able to maintain a roof over our heads.
Words cannot express how humble and grateful we are.

We had been struggling over the last year. I had reached out to so many organizations to get some help and everyone turned us away. A great friend put me in touch with cindy she didn't know why no other organizations would help. They helped us take care of some Bill's that would help us be less stressed. Especially this time of year. We are so grateful to cindy and her team.
I was injured in 05’, Cindy’s smiling face made EBERY day she came to the hospital better.
Operation Second Chance helped me in so many ways when I was at the hospital, from events, to meeting new friends, help moving, financial aid and all of the moral support/positivity anyone could ever ask for!
We got into a hard season because of unfortunate events out of our control and because of your help we are on the path to getting back on our feet!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!
Words cannot possibly express how much my life has been changed by their assistance. Just when I thought that I would never be able to get back on my feet, Operation Second Chance stood up when no one else would/could, and provided me with enough assistance to not only get back on track with employment, but with a vehicle, housing and food. Their assistance was life changing and I am forever in their debt. If there is just one cause that you donate to this year, they are certainly amongst the best choices.
My husband and I have been out of work since April of this year due to his accident. Our bills were in a delinquent status. We were introduced to this program through my husband's social worker at the hospital. They stepped in and kept us from losing our house and the electricity being turned off. Thank you Jesus and Thank you Operation Second Chance for being our "Saving Grace"!
My wife and I were in touch with Kimberly Hernadez Virginia Department of Veterans Services / Virginia Veteran and Family Support group and they got us in touch with Operation Second Chance, and Honor Bound. I have been a participant of their OSC veteran events in Fredericksburg, VA since 2013. I really appreciated and enjoy the outings with my family. We needed some assistance this month because I lost $1700 pay from the GI bill for the break between summer school and the new semester. This plus a $220 vet bill, $200 Dentist bill, a $400 doctor bill for my daughter to get testing to get on an Early Intervention Program through the school for her mental/emotional issues,$190 vehicle maintenance bill on our Prius and getting the alternator replaced on our Pilot last month had completely wiped out our savings and maxed out our credit. With everything paid had no grocery money. We've had to kick a couple cans down the road as far as debt payments getting behind and are in contact with them so they don't report us to the credit bureau. We've worked super hard the last 5 years to recover from bankruptcy that was caused by my early release from active duty due to PTSD/TBI issues. I Uber in DC on nights I'm not in school to make ends meet but its just barely enough to scrape by. I only have use of one eye due to an IED blast so it makes driving and computer schoolwork really hard. My wife is my caregiver and stay at home mother of 2 kids and 2 dogs, who is at her wits end over the financial strain. This means so much. It will allow us the capacity to use this assistance to eliminate 4-5 of these recurring monthly payments that suck up money needed for school lunches, daily essentials, and unexpected bills that always seem to arise at the worst time. I just replaced the alternator and 2 weeks later the radiator starts leaking and left me on the side of the road with an overheated car 2 days ago. So this will definitely help get this and the power steering pump to get fixed and make the car drive-able again. With me in school 9am-8pm 2 days a week, my wife has been on taxi duty getting me and the kids to and from school, home, extra curricular stuff for the kids, grocery shopping, and Dr/Dentist appointments etc. I'd Like to Thank Operation Second Chance and Honor Bound, Virginia Department of Veterans Services / Virginia Veteran and Family Support from the heart, Thank you for your help and what you guys do for all of us.
As a provider at the VA, I encounter the urgent financial situations that our post deployed combat veterans find themselves in as they wait for SC rating, school, jobs to begin. These episodes of being at the edge of repossession , eviction , food for families exacerbates their post deployment stress , depression, anxiety. It is an amazing gift to have Operation Second Chance to turn to in these times. They are a God- send for sure! Thank you for all you do for our veterans in need! I appreciate you and the efficiency and urgency with which you come through for us all!.
Things started to pile up on me as I was working on myself. I reached out to Operation Second Chance in a panic and they really helped me in a time of need. Good job
Operation Second Chance saved me from being homeless. They went above and beyond in my situation and I so appreciate this organization. They were so efficient, polite and courteous that it was the greatest experience to be in such a tight situation. Thank you Operation Second Chance. God Bless You

Dear Operation Second Chance,
I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your compassion and consideration providing me/family with the necessary funding to prevent certain eviction in my time of financial distress. Without the kindness, generosity and professionalism of the O.S.C Staff, I would have been lost, exhausting all other means O.S.C really came through.
Thanking You Sincerely,
Jacques Alexander
Disabled Veteran
We were in need of assistance. My wife had a baby and her employer outsourced her position. We were in need like no other time. Operation Second Chance helped us like no one else. We were relieved and we're able to enjoy our new born.
I was attempting treatment in a ptsd program and since I wasn't working I couldn't afford mine and my finances Bill's. Luckily I found this place through a google search and not only did they offer to help they helped with more then I was asking for. The hole process was approved from start two finish within two days. I was extremely relieved and could focus on treatment instead fo worrying about other things
My wife had lost her job recently and things were very tight financially. Thankfully this group assisted with our mortgage. We were contemplating selling our house. Operation second chance helped us greatly. Thank you.
When you are faced with difficult unexpected circumstances, especially medically related, there is no amount of planning that can prepare you for the obstacles you may face. The last thing you want to have to worry about is being able to have basic needs covered financially. This creates an amount of stress that is hard to comprehend. Over the last year my family faced a medical crisis with multiple back to back major surgeries and over 200 doctors’ visits. Operation Second Chance was there for our family in a big way in our time of need. I am not sure how we would have been able to face the next day. Operation Second Chance was efficient, sympathized, and thorough. We cannot express the gratitude we have for this amazing Veteran organization.
Thank you for keeping me alive as I have been through so many set backs, losses and life experiences as we "rain falls on every man's door" and I appreciate the umbrella from Second Chance when I needed an extra hand up rather than a hand out. I want to be able to give back to Operation Second Chance once I'm back on my feet because without programs like this then I would be in dire straits and homeless. But remember, "Everyday He gives us a brand new mercy!" Won't He do it! Blessings to Second Chance and Much Appreciated.
When everything went wrong and we were facing severe financial hardship. Operation Second Chance stepped up and guided us in receiving much needed assistance. Within one week, Operation Second Chance got our rent and insurance directly paid, saving us from further and more lasting hardship.
Thank you so much Operation Second Chance.
Operation Second Chance inc. Really came through for my family.
A week before I was to be medically retired from the Army due to injuries sustained while deployed to Afghanistan.
We had a terrible storm that broke a very large oak tree near my house. About 4 tons of that tree fell through the master bed room of the house we bought just a year prior. Destroying the roof, upstairs and damaging the first floor. We wont be able to move back in for 3 to 6 months.
We lost most of our clothes and furniture. Luckily no one was hurt, that's all that really matters to me.
Now my greatest concern was I had pre planned out my finances until my retirement pay kicked in month or so.
Now we faced a lot of unexpected expenses and deductibles. Emily at second chance is wonderful and within a day had offered generous finacial help to us so we could pick up the pieces and keep things going financially.
My family and I are deeply grateful to Operation Second Chance for the fast assistance during this difficult time for my family.
It is a very difficult thing for most Soldiers to ask for help, but I am so very glad Operation Second Chance was there there when I needed to.

Operation second chance helped me in a time of need me and my family had no way to pay our bills due to my struggle with PTSD if it wasn't for the generosity of second chance and the help it gets from supporters I don't what I would have done
Forever grateful,

After almost 5 years and 3 other organizations trying to get help with finding and fitting a recumbent bike, OSC is the first company to come through! Even though it took a couple of months, it's clear to me that's been due to getting it right the first time. I can't thank Cindy, Travis at JRABS, Jamie Price, and Mike Heller enough for getting me connected so I can get back to fitness that doesn't put me in the ER!
I want to thank Operation Second Chance for helping me pay my past due mortgage before the bank foreclosed on my house. Since I was hurt in Iraq and medically discharged from the Army, my life has been a constant struggle. God Bless all of you for everything you have done to help me and my fellow Veterans!
Thank you for helping our family! We appreciate you catching us up on our mortgage. I am a single mom of three children and a combat veteran that served in Iraq in the Army. I suffer from PTSD, major depressive disorder and just two years ago I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. I recently got divorced and in April I lost my job. I appreciate your financial assistance in this hard time. You gave me some relief today and I feel better about being able to continue on and support my family.
After an IED exploded under my position in the truck bed, launching the GMV in which I was riding over 70 feet, back in August 2009, I was extracted from Afghanistan and given a 0% chance of living during the early days of my month and a half coma.
Luckily all of the doctors were wrong and against all odds, I not only woke from the coma, but was able to walk and talk again.
While I’m totally bummed that I’m no longer allowed to be a Marine Raider, I am beyond ecstatic to, not only be alive, but to have healed up so well that I’m virtually indistinguishable from a person who has never been injured.
Operation Second Chance has provided an immeasurable amount of help in keeping this adventure called life an endless string of excitement for me.
While everyone at Operation Second Chance unquestionably gives veterans a Second Chance at life, they are definitely Second to none!
A massive Thank You to everyone involved with Operation Second Chance, for all that you’ve done for me and everything that you continue to do for all of us! You are the best!
At the risk of sounding ridiculous, I must say: Operation Second Chance is so great that there have actually been times when I’ve felt lucky to have been injured so severely, as it afforded me the opportunity to get involved with such an amazing organization. Thank you OSC!

Operation Second Chance is by far hands down the gold standard in how assistance to our Veterans in crisis should be provided. Although there are many organizations that state a mission to support combat Veterans in crisis, often times they have lengthy requirements lists and processes that take up time. By definition, in a crisis situation, time is not something that you have. Operation Second Chance has the fastest turn-around time of almost any organization I have worked with, their record is helping a Veteran family avoid eviction by making a rental payment within 3.5 hours of receiving the application. As a professional working with Veterans in crisis frequently, I am very glad to highly recommend this organization to any Veteran family needing assistance.
This non profit organization is a blessing. I am a disabled vet and I had reached an tough patch in my life and was getting behind on my rent facing an eviction. I was told about this program by my case manager & another lady from a different organization who also helps vets. I was so embarrassed to even ask questions and tell them about my hardship, but they were so polite and telling me not to be embarrassed sometimes things happen that is not in our control. That alone made me feel a little more better, so I filled out all the paperwork and had my case manager fax it. Do you know it only took one day for me to receive a snail mail stating that I was approved and they had made payment. Not only did it take a lot of stress off me, it helped me understand that things in life don’t always go as planned but never be scared or to embarrass to ask for help or guidance
I have worked with OSC several times assisting veterans in need. Always very fast responses. I can't say enough good things about this organization!
I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Operation Second Chance, I wrote to them in a desperate situation, feeling rather hopeless. Several long term PTSD related hospitalizations left our family in a financial crisis that were just weren't pulling out of. Every person at Operation Second Chance that I had the pleasure of speaking to was understanding, empathetic, and, moreover, wanted to help my family out of the situation we were in. They worked quickly and diligently, and a world of stress and anxiety has been lifted off of my shoulders. We can now move forward and focus on recovery. We will be forever grateful to the staff and organization.
Operation Second Chance did exactly what there name says, gave me a second chance at life and stability. This organization was very professional and rapid with there response. They made the process very easy and not complicated. Communication was constant and they showed sincere concern for my situation. This organization is truly a blessing and demonstrates genuine care and concern for those who served their country. Thank you OSC for serving me.
This organization helped out daughters participate in a sport they both so dearly love. If it wasn’t for the financial help of them there is no way we would have been able to afford this for them. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Today, March 6th 2018 Operation Second Chance helped me with my power bill. I recently went back in to retirement and fell behind on some bills due to the lack of extra income. Vanessa and Emily came to the needs of me and my family without hesitation. It is one of the best organizations that help veterans in their time in need. I thank them for their assistance and want everyone to know that they truly make a difference in the community.
Kenny Hawthorne and Family
My family and I were under much stress with our financial situation. I had to have shoulder surgery that took me out of work for almost 5 months. Operation Second Chance helped us big time with our Mortgage payment. My wife and I couldn’t have felt more love from any program. It was an amazing and helpful experience. We are blessed to have the support during a time of Financial hardship.
Thank you so much!
I case manage Veterans and reached out to Operation Second Chance to assist one Veteran in particular. The female combat Veteran needed a little extra assistance in order to get on top of her situation. Operation Second Chance demonstrated their willingness to help Veterans in need. Operation Second Chance was easy to work with and were top notch professionals. Thank you so much for your help!
Operation Second Chance kept my family from being put out in the cold. When everyone else said no OSC stepped in and help my family. It wasn’t a long drawn out process either. I am forever grateful to Operation Second Chance.
we had just moved into a new house and had all the bills transferred from our old address, our roommate gave us three days notice that she was moving out, that left us with the responsibility of her portion of the rent, plus the transferred back dated bills. Life has hit us hard since my discharge, trying to get back on my feet and get my disability straight. The constant struggle with trying to find the right job that will afford us the money to pay everything and put food on the table. My liaison in Virginia helped me find Operation Second Chance and they helped pay my water and sanitation bill so that is one burden that I don't have to worry about while I try to pick up the pieces. Thank you so much for everything that your organization does. I truly appreciate. I know my kids are too small to understand it, but I know they appreciate being able to splash in the bath tub. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This organization assisted my veteran and his family with maintaining their rent for a month during the interim of a surprise medical retirement out of the service and receiving active duty pay. Thank you for the prompt and quick turnaround, truly life changing agency!
This organization assisted my veteran client with keeping their only family vehicle from being repossessed after a series of unplanned financial crises. Thank you for the prompt and quick turnaround!! Great agency.
I turned to Operation Second Chance to help a Veteran who was at the end of his rope, and they responded almost immediately! Their assistance prevented my client from being evicted. He has struggled with homelessness since his honorable discharge 3 years ago. Now he plans on focusing on finding work, instead of focusing on finding another temporary place to sleep... Amazing group of people who will be getting the bulk of my donations from now on!
I know many families go through some sort of financial hardship, during the holiday season. I happen to be one of those individuals this year. I would like to thank everyone associated with Operation Second Chance, with the assistance that I so desperately needed. May everyone have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
My family had a horrible unexpected accident. Our Care Coalition representative came and met with me immediately and let me know if we were to need help it was out there for us! We couldn't be more appreciative of the generosity from Operation Second Chance. Thank you for helping my family in a time of need and easing the financial worries that came following such an unexpected accident. We will forever be thankful!!!
Sometimes things happen out of your control and you feel like your ship is sinking. Operation second chance is just that. They help you right the ship. They offer several different solutions to help you out. As a veteran sometimes it's hard to ask for help. Operation second chance never once asked me why this happened, or how this happened. I definitely recommend this organization to anyone who needs help. Thank you so much for your support and help in my time of need. God Bless you.
Operation second chance help my family and I out in time of need. With Med board out the military my finances were tight and I was struggling to make ends meet. Second chance stepped in and assisted us with no hesitation. Very friendly people and very professional.
Operation second change was there for my Wife,4 girls and myself when I nwed it most. It's nice to see that there are organizations like this that not just talk the talk but walk the walk if you have served, and need help call them they are really eager to serve you Hoohaa.
Operation Second Chance was such a blessing to me. I got behind on my mortgage and they stepped in withoit hesitation or judgement. I'm a single mom of 2 boys and I love off my sole income which is my disability pension. Thank you for giving me breathing room and blessing my family. I am forever humbly grateful.
Operation second chance was absolutely amazing! I was in a financial crisis due to switching to a new career that offered very low pay for their 4 month probationary period. I fell behind on my utilities and started to recieve shut off notices. I applied to Operation Second Chance for possible assistance and within 2 days they had personally called all of my utilities and paid off the entire balances that equaled 500 dollars! They saved me from falling into an even worse predicament. Amazing organization and want to say thank you for comming through for the Veterans and going above and beyond
I recently reached out to Operation Second Chance concerning the funeral expenses of my brother, who was a U.S. Army Veteran. He passed away unexpectedly at 36, and the family had no way of paying for the expenses to give him the proper funeral and burial he deserved. I can't thank OSC enough for being so helpful with the application process, the speedy response due to the funeral time frame, and the ultimate outcome of a donation to the funeral home. I can't express enough how truly grateful I am for the support, and also their very kind words of sympathy. To the ones who make this organization happen, God bless you!
My name is DeAndre Smith and I'm a wounded combat veteran MARINE who served in OIF. I was Honorably Discharged in 2004, Since then I have been suffering from PTSD and a whole list of other ailments that have hampered my life! I recently fell upon hard times and I could not afford to pay my rent. I applied for emergency help with OPERATION SECOND CHANCE and they approved me and gave me and my Family the help we needed. My rent is paid and me and my Family will not get evicted. I want to say Thank You very much to Operation Second Chance for their support and Care for me and my Family! and all that they do to help Veterans and their Family's . Thank You Very Much Operation Second Chance and may GOD Bless You!
We just went to the Tilghman Island retreat a couple weeks ago, and couldn't believe how relaxing and beautiful it was. It gave us a chance to escape the grueling everyday process of being a patient, and just focus on family time. So thankful to have an organization that cares so much about its warriors
We had a wonderful time attending the annual retreat on Tilghman Island. They had something for everyone and it made a huge difference for our family to meet other families in similar circumstances. This organization understand the challenges that face wounded veterans and their families and for that we are grateful!
We heard about OSC just a few days before we attended their annual retreat. I couldn't believe that they were so welcoming and inviting for us to attend at such a last minute date. The retreat OSC provided my family was priceless. It had been a long time since we had been able to spend time together and not have to worry about the financial burden our vacation would take on us. OSC provided everything for the weekend so that we could relax and enjoy our time together. My daughter found a new passion in fishing and my son got his first experience with a rod! I spent time in the kayak and my husband ate all of his favorite foods and played in the pool with his kids. It was an amazing weekend!
OSC also purchased a kayak, oars, and life vests for my family! We have been out on the kayak and love it! It's really been a great experience with OSC and we're so thankful to have them supporting our family!
I want to start by thanking God for this company. I was behind on my rent for two months and in jeopardy of being evicted if I didn't come up with the money within 10 days. I absolutely had no idea as to how I was going to get the money. My balance was 1503 and I got an email saying they will pay the balance. I have two kids, I'm a disabled veteran, and I have been having a rough time for a while now. This company has really blessed me and my family.
My husband retired a few months ago and it has been very hard for our family. This organization truely listens and understands what your going through. My family is so grateful for the help Operation Second Chance provided!!
My husband suffers from severe PTSD, depression and anxiety from his deployment. He was inpatient for treatment and upon discharge he was connected with Hero's on the Water non profit. He found such peace on being on the water we went ahead, bit the bullet and purchased him his very own kayak so he could go more frequently during the weeks to clear his head. During the 4th of July weekend our kayak car carrier broke during transport and the kayak took off down the highway and sustained some pretty extensive damage. My husband was crushed. We couldn't afford to replace the kayak we had just purchased only a month and a half prior. So I reached out to Operation Second Chance and they are replacing his kayak! I am so thankful this organization stepped in. Hes been making some really great progress with his therapy kayak group and independently I would hate to back track. Thank you OSC so much!
My son was struggling in several areas when he returned from his last deployment and when he was unable to keep up with his monthly living expenses, he was in danger of being evicted for falling behind on rent. He had numerous outstanding bills and was working overtime and still unable to make ends meet, all while trying to learn how to be a single dad to his young son and trying to navigate his new normal.
It was very difficult for him to ask for assistance, as he saw that as a weakness rather then that he was at a very difficult time in his life. When I encouraged him to contact Operation Second Chance, their immediate, warm response and prompt financial assistance made all the difference in the world for him, and his relief was evident. To feel like you're at a dead end with no way out, and then to have someone reach out a hand and offer kindness and gratitude with both word and action, that is a powerful message for a veteran to receive these days. We are forever grateful to Operation Second Chance for their generosity and faith in my son. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
From a grateful family member.
Operation second chance helped me and my family great deal. I am a disable US military veteran that served few tours in Iraq. I lost my job almost three month ago and struggling to find a job because of my disability. I fell behind on paying my house payments since I lost my job. I have a wife and three daughters. I have been trying to get a job in my area for a while now and had no luck not so ever. My family and I was concern about our home and did not want to lose our home because we fell behind on payments lack of me employment. I contacted Operation Second Chance few days ago and asked for help. They came back today to let me know that they were able to help me by sending a check to my mortgage company. God Bless them they just saved our home. I was able to contact my mortgage company just a while ago to let them know. My family and I are very thankful to Operation Second Chance and its staff for being able to help us and save our home. God Bless them.
After contacting numerous organizations as a case manager, this was hands-down the fastest and most helpful organization I've worked with. I submitted an application for a vet and received a response in under 24 hours. Documentation required was appropriate and not excessive. The two employees I spoke to (Vanessa and Emily) were very patient as I had lots of questions. I would highly recommend this organization.
I was an UH-60 Blackhawk pilot in the Army. I separated from the Army in June 2014. I almost gave up my dream of flying until I found the Rotor Transition Program with PSA airlines. PSA airlines partnered with Sky Warriors Flight School takes qualified military rotary wing pilots and teach them how to fly Fixed-Wing aircraft followed by a First Officer position with PSA Airlines. The program is designed so that you can use your Post 9/11 GI Bill to pay for the training and living expenses. I gave my Post 9/11 GI Bill to my son for his education and he graduated this past December with a Criminal Justice degree from UTSA. I was recently interviewed and hired as a First Officer. I start my fixed-wing transition training on June 5th. I'm set to start LOFT at PSA on or about 10 September. I will be without an income for that time frame. Operation Second Chance provided with assistance when My family and I needed the most. Emily Selga was very helpful, she answered every email and phone in a timely manner, in my crisis of need she made me feel like I everything was going to work out. With people such as herself and this organization that help veterans its a wonderful thing and give myself hope. I do plan on paying to forward and helping Operation Second Chance when I get started on my career. From my family Renea, Aviance, Kevin, Kayla and myself thank you for all you do and your help. I truly can't want for the day I am able to return the gesture. Thank you and God Bless

I am very appreciative of how Operation Second Chance was hasty with their assistance. I am really grateful, continue to do wonderful things for the Servicemen and women past and present.
I was in a financial crunch becasue of unexpected incident, I really needed financial help. I found this site and contacted Ms Vanessa . She immediately responded to my email and the help I needed came from Operation Second Chance the very next day. It is nice to know that for once with all the talk of people claiming to help and love veterans, this organization truly came through. So different from the military with the hurry up and wait. Thanks Operation Second Chance
I work for a non-profit and provide quality case management for veterans and their families. Operation Second Chance is an organization and ensure that our Nation's wounded (invisible and visible wounds). They are limited in their funding, but have always gone above and beyond, and need compassionate hearts to help them serv those serve. ~ J. Williams

In September we had an incident happened where we needed to seek legal aid. Due to high cost of the legal aid we fell behind our bills which included utilities, car payments, credit cards and others. Due to being over the poverty line for help no one we asked was able to help us with our situation. We reached out to another organization who directed us to Operation Second Chance who helped us with our rent payment so we were able to catch up with our other bills. My husband and I are so grateful to this organization t give us a helping hand when we needed it the most. I want to thank them dearly for their help and their support and that they are able to continue to help veterans and their families when they are need.
Thank You So Much!
I can't begin to express our happiness at this moment. We contacted our case worker with AW2 and he submitted everything to Operation Second chance. As soon as our car warranty went out, our transmission went out, then following our hot water heater went out the first freeze of winter. Needless to say, we were set back and 2 days shy of our utilities getting shut off. Operation Second chance took our application and took us seriously and had the utilities paid after 1 business day. Sure it usually takes time but they didn't hesitate helping a veteran and his family and as a Wounded Warrior, I'm forever in debt with them, I will always donate to this organization. An Extremely Grateful Veteran, Chris and Marini family
I cannot express my humble gratitude to this outstanding organization for assisting me in financial means. I am a single Mother and disabled Army Veteran that suffers severely from PTSD. Everyday it is a challenge for me physically, mentally and emotionally. Knowing that Operation Second Chance was there during the uncertain of life challenges gives me hope that my service was recognized and not forgotten for sacrifices not just I made but my family. Thank you and may god bless you and your future endeavors in serving the ones that have served
This organization FLEW my family ALL the way from CALIFORNIA to visit me in WALTER REED MARYLAND when we thought I was on my death bed. They didn't dig into every crevice of my personal life looking for qualifications, they simply heard my cry for help and answered the call. Thank you guys for your help.
OSC was there for our family when we needed it the most. We were in need of financial assistance for our car repair and OSC stepped in to help us out. Caring for my wounded warrior and our family is my job these days, and it's nice to know that OSC cares for my family too. Thanks again.
The fan stopped working in our HVAC system so we called a repairman. When he removed the cover to get to the fan all I could see was mold. I called around and it was going to cost around $500.00 and we just did not have it. My AW2 representative told me about Operation Second Chance. I called them to get more information and they were very helpful. I filled out the packet and in 2 weeks we had someone here removing the mold. Operation Second Chance was quick polite and very helpful. I don't think there is an organization that I have dealt with that was this fast and helpful.
This organization is top notch. I had 4 consecutive months of $600 utility bills. I needed a break and was facing disconnection. I faxed my documents over on a Thursday and after verification, my bill was paid on Tuesday. I will become a regular contributor to this organization now that I am back track.
Thanks Guys!
hello all, I have had the pleasure of becoming friends with dean&cindy, very nice people and so very dedicated to OSC, if you want to donate to VERY worthy charity, OSC is the one, 90% of donation's go to us vets, very low overhead, and again I say, the people involved with this org are very careing and eager to help all vets, so don't hesitate to donate to them.
I am so grateful for the help I have received from Operation second chance , without your help my family and I would be without food and shelter . Operation second chance listened and took great care in talking to me and assuring things would work out . They work very fast to lend a huge helping hand and I feel the weight of the world lifted off of my back because of there help thank you so much again for everything !
Sincerely
Terrance O'Neil

Operation Second Chance just saved my son and me from being thrown back on the street by a housing that was built specifically for homeless veterans. I fell behind with my rent after my car broke down and I had to get a newer one, and the next thing I knew there were eviction papers served. The very next day Operation Second Chance stepped up to help and protect. Thank you!
Ms. Vanessa Toner and Operation Second Chance helped our family tremendously when we felt like we hit rock bottom. Our family had been living separated for 8 months due to our special needs daughter's medical needs. My husband retired from Active Duty service to our home of record in American Samoa with the understanding from Doctors that our daughter was doing well. They were to go home first and our daughter Toaiva and I would join them shortly. Unfortunately, she had to have her fifth open heart surgery unexpectedly in December and her heart condition was deemed not stable enough to be released to move home. So, the rest of the family has to relocate back to Hawaii. But with one income and having to start from scratch due to all household goods and vehicles being shipped home, it was impossible to afford the airfares for my husband and older kids. I had reached out to multiple organizations and was turned away due to American Samoa being remote and not part of the continental United States. I gave up my search for a couple of days but I wanted to try one last time. And I will forever be grateful and thankful that I did so because I found this organization. Since day one, Ms. Vanessa Toner had assisted and kept in touch despite the 6 hour time difference. The response time was prompt and she was very courteous on the phone. Now, my family can look forward to reuniting after many months of separation and have a fresh start because of this organization's willingness to assist with our need. Words just cannot explain how much gratitude we have for this amazing gesture. All we can do is pray that they continue to be blessed abundantly as they have blessed our family and many others. (This is the last family photo we have with Toaiva when she was trached and a current photo of her and I here in Hawaii)
As a 63 yr. young single mom of a 33 yr. old disabled vet son (US Army) there are only 2 support systems I can honestly give credit. 1 from our never failing bank representatives (Navy Federal) and now, Operation Second Chance!! Believe me when I state, that the past 7 yrs. of our journey, have been plagued with more than our share. The most unexpected, seem to be a constant. Almost every deep breath that comes when solving one crisis, is followed by a hit that makes it impossible to believe. The struggles to find some kind of norm in a world where people, agencies, government on all levels and titled representatives, have lost empathy or committment to offer kindness. It doesn't seem to matter the losses, the day to day struggles, the tears or at times, the hysteria!! You can do everything right, humbly accept the wrongs, and question the purpose or intentions. Corporate America doesn't blink an eye, at throwing you in the street or taking your transportation away, when they don't get the money owed, on time. They forget the blood and sacrifices that made it possible and easily dismiss their responsibility. Worse, don't expect anyone else to remember or possibly extend the boundaries of what is only in the job description they hold. Not once in 7 yrs. has any person, agency, department, college, landlord, car lender ever made it simple or easier than the hardest it exists, UNTIL Operation Second Chance. A chance meeting at a familiar invitation to attend the support areas for our military, vets and their families?? Right!!??!! The usual with the same outcome. In the end, the result is the battle that endures alone!! And yet, for what ever reason, maybe hope, maybe some little flicker of light, my son and I did give it another chance! All the familiars were present, except this ONE! Operation Second Chance!!! Who listene, who higged, who had a tear for each one we shed!!! Hope! Our biggest offer to this organization was to spread the word, to contribute. Who would know that we would actually need them? That's exactly how this played out. Another unexpected, from an expected source of simply, not caring for damage present or past!! A direct deposit, not arriving and the casualty would be devastating. No where to go, call or hope! Until I came across the flier, remembered the meeting and made the call. The talk the talk and walk the walk. I didn't have to beg, scream, get hysterical. Truth is, what was offered freely at the meeting, compassion, hugs, shared tears was more than I had ever witnessed in 7 yrs. I knew what was coming for us, what we'd lose, again! All to familiar! But, I made that emergency call and my son and I are eternally grateful. In closing, I can assure who ever reading this, the truth. OSP, is the only support offered, provided and save us from another round of unstability and homelessness!! They want to help and that is exactly what they did!! Thank you to all of you! Our hearts are beating and we have HOPE because of this organization called Operation Second Chance. God Bless You and in these troubling times, you bring comfort and HOPE!!! Respect, Regards and Love, Cathy & Sonny
Operation second chance has really helped my family and I. You guys are great continue what you are doing and God bless you!
Hello everyone, my name is retired USMC CPL John Smith, I was recently the victim of indentity fraud. They emptied my checkings account and the bank emptied my savings to cover the negative balance leaving me with no money to eat or pay my bills for the month. I was feeling rock bottom but thanks to the advice of a friend named Adam I reached out to Cindy and Operations 2nd chance. Thanks to this organization and Cindy's help I was able to find assistance till the bank reversed the the fraudulent charges on my account. I was able to stay a float in a world seeking to drown me with red tape and I have no words to express the gratitude I have towards this Organization and Cindy for all the help given during my time of need. I pray to never go thru identity theft again. It left me feeling more vulnerable then ever but if anything ever happens I know who to call first. Thank you Operation 2nd Chance for everything you've done I'm truly honored you had my back. Semper Fi
Operation Second a Chance is an amazing organization that truly stands above all others. Their staff are compassionate, efficient and really do wonderful things for Veterans and their families.
Operation Second Chance is an amazing organization. I am going through a rough time in my life financially. I need some help and Operation Second Chance was there to help me out. They were very helpful and very nice every time I called to ask questions. They were able to help me out in a matter of days due to my circumstances. I am very blessed to have them help me out in a time of need. Thank you Operation Second chance for the help.
My husband was transferred from the East Coast to the South West for treatment of his PTSD. As a military family, we already budget everything down to the penny, so traveling to see him was not an option. I started looking into different agencies for help with a flight, and I found Operation Second Chance. What a blessing, in less than a week they were able to secure a flight and rental car for me to visit my husband during his treatment. I never imagined that there were groups out there who could help me with this. I am Flying out Friday and I couldn't be more thankful for this opportunity.
Thank you Operation Second Chance!!! Today I just got a Second Chance.
My Electric Bill had been off since April. I was referred to your agency and after filling out a brief application which included my story and my financial situation I was given the opportunity to start all over and have my Electric Service restored. I now have a care taker that has put my life back together so this doesn't ever happen again. Thank you again Operation Second Chance, your assistance has meant so very much to me.
The Criteria to qualify for any help are complete out of date.
criteria . are you an OIF Vet. I you are is your ETS less that 18 months.
OIF ended about six years ago. and if you just left the military you are not an OIF VET.
Bottom line, they just want to brush people off. SCAM
I woke up on March 1, 2016, and saw my disability check was in my account. Went to get money from my bank account and found out my whole check had disappeared in under 30 minutes.I started freaking out wondering how I was gonna pay my rent and bills. My buddy who works for a vet organization let me know about operation 2nd chance and also let me know he has used them before when he was in need. Operation 2nd chance helped me pay my rent this month so me and my family of three had a roof over our heads while my bank works to figure out what happened to my money. They were such a big help and helped me and my family solve our stress of losing out place. I really appreciate what they do and will recommend them to other vets who are need.
I only wish I could give more than a 5 Star Review to Operation Second Chance. I will never have enough words to describe how incredibly grateful I am for all of the assistance I have received from Operation Second Chance. This past holiday season, I received an unbelievably thoughtful Christmas gift donation package, which was filled to the brim with every gift that I had mentioned -- and MORE! It brought me so much joy to be able to give all of these gifts to my loved ones, where I otherwise would not have been able to give hardly anything this year. Additionally, Operation Second Chance has helped me to prepare for my upcoming wedding by generously offering to pay for my wedding invitations. Not only did they pay for the invitations, but also for the RSVP cards, AND the return address labels. I am are so incredulous, and so, so thankful. Operation Second Chance is truly an organization that makes even the wildest dreams come true -- for both myself and my fiancé, as well as for countless other Service men and women. If you want to find a "great non-profit", you've found it here at Operation Second Chance...but "great" truly does not do them justice. Operation Second Chance is AMAZING. Thank you!
I recently had a death in the family and my bride and I had to fly to California last second to be with my family. I called Operation Second Chance (OSC) and they took care of my flights with no questions asked. I felt horrible because it was a last minute flight. But Cindy told me not to worry about it and for us to go be with my family. It was also pretty late at night when I called. Cindy and OSC are absolutely amazing! I met Cindy when they were just starting out and to be honest, I do t know where I'd be without her. She has been there for me more times than I can count. Thank you so, so much Ci day and OSC!!!
I can not begin to express my thanks to OSC! While I am employed, I am currently out of work for treatment. I am just amazed at their quick response and professionalism. As a father of two disabled kids just making it by, I was not prepared for this hardship even after using credit and our little retirement savings we had. I am grateful that I am able to get the mental health treatment I need, without having to risk loosing our power or water or getting foreclosed. We have always been good with managing our finances, but life comes at you fast and Operation Second Chance is amazing!
Thank you

I've been working with Operation Second Chance for over 3 years now. This is an incredible organization. Out of all the Wounded Warrior Orgs that I have been a part of OSC hands down has done more for me and my family then any other. Its been a complete blessing to have been lucky enough to be involved with them. They have been there for me at every corner ready and able to provide assistance. If they didn't have the answer or know how to fix something they got me in touch with people who could. There Montana chapter is phenomenal as well. They treat their warriors like a family! Just an all-around amazing organization being ran by amazing people.
I am a veteran and was having some issues taking care of a behind mortgage payment, I spoke with Operation Second Chance and they were not only able to help me, they also sent the check out the next day. They really helped me and my family out.
This organization helped us quickly be able to provide a home for my family and just in time for the holidays
I'm writing this review on behalf of a veteran who has cancer. He is so grateful for his gift cards he will use to catch up on bills and visit his elderly mother on her birthday. He greatly appreciates Operation Second Chance support in his time of need! Great organization!
Girl Scout Troop 1369 volunteers at events to help Operation Second Chance help military families. Recently, we hosted a military card making table at Second Chance Auto Show in Germantown. We host military card making tables at local events and our school. With the help of OSC these cards and our donated cookies will find soldiers and vets in need of well wishes and love.
The troop leader's husband earned 2 Purple Hearts, 1 Silver Star and 2 Bronze Stars. OSC along with the Rehoboth Beach Community put together an amazing no cost 5 day vacation for the family. The family had no clue that they'd be treated like royalty and have everything at their finger tips such as help and understanding with the needs of the MS stricken veteran and the passing of the wife's mother only two days prior to the trip. Most vacations are stressful with prepping and praying that everything goes as planned. Knowing that there were people in the Rehoboth Community ready to assist with the family bumps took boulders off of their shoulders.
We appreciate and welcome OSC moving into our Germantown community!!
We had fell behind with our electric and our mortgage knowing we had very little money this month. After placing a phone call I was told it would be roughly two weeks, they were wrong! After close to just 1 week our past due electric bill was paid and a check in the mail for our mortgage. Knowing how much Operation Second Chance helped our family is amazing; the time we needed someone the most this organization came through. We are truly blessed and grateful!
Operation Second Chance is an organization like no other, reason being is that from the Cordinator in Fredericksburg VA Sara, to the top Cindy, do not only provide assistance and cordinate events but will also listen to what you have to say and become apart of your life, it is a family within an organization who expect nothing else then to see a smile on you and your families face. We are beyond bless to be apart of such an extraordinary organization.
The Cevallos Family
After my husband was wounded, our world completely fell apart. OSC was there to help put the pieces back together and to be a support in any way they could.... Financially, physically, and even emotionally. We are forever grateful to Cindy and OSC. Thank you for being a light during a very dark time.
Remembering those who care for those who served. Operation Second Chance is an outstanding organization that recognizes the service of family members who are caring for our wounded warriors. I love them and they have helped us have some much needed R and R.
I love Operation Second Chance. When I look for nonprofits to donate my time and money, I look for an organization that works as hard for my money as I do. OSC does amazing work with a low overhead. Our nations service members gave so much and they deserve so much more then we give them! THANK YOU Operation Second Chance for helping our veterans!
Operation Second Chance was a life line for my family and myself in order to catch up on our past due bills as well as to prevent us from falling severely behind again while waiting on the VA to release payment to me and my wife. Times have been very hard when my wife’s military career was brought to an abrupt end through medical retirement from the U.S. Army with a VA disability rating of 90% after 14 years of faithful, dedicated and loyal service. When she retired she did not receive her first VA payment for about 6 months which during that time made us a single income family. As for me I have a 100% permanent and total VA disability rating from my service to my country in Iraq. I served on a Military Transition Team for the 4/1 Iraqi Army Quick Reactionary Force and we spent our time taking care of bad guys from Baghdad to Kurdistan and along the Iranian border. My primary job on our team was to serve as the team’s medic caring for over 3200 IA Soldiers and Leaders, my 10 man team as well both enemy and friendly civilian casualties. This grant was absolutely a necessity because our pay was reduced and savings depleted to compensate just to grocery shop. This grant will brought us current with our most vital bills and that is ensuring that my family has a roof over its head, a functional house and food to eat. The level of concern for me the individual that I received was phenomenal, I felt like I proud American Soldier and that someone cared about that feeling. I will always be grateful for the assistance ad love me and my family felt. Thank you so much for what you are doing for the families of our service men and women, because that is who we have given so much for and some gave all for. Again, thank you in advance for your assistance and just for your existence.

"Proud Patriot"
They were so fast in helping me. Less than 24 hours after I had applied through my case manager help was on its way. The people were nice and thoughtful in responding to me
Im writing to tell every soldier if you need any help with financial problems operation second chance is the best company you can ever deal with....Cindy and Vannessae are stand up individuals and should be awarded with something major.....
Awesome organization, provided financial support in a quick manner and communicated constantly kepted me informed at all times I wish I could do something to pay them back
After being medically retired 5 months ago, I ran into some financial problems while awaiting the VA. Faced with foreclosure, this charity took care of my mortgage by bringing it current. My wife and I have 5 children, and we feel we can now rebuild, and climb out of the hole, due to the kindness of the many donors.
My husband is a disabled veteran and we came upon a situation where we needed assistance right away. Operation second chance helped my family with bills that were in collections. We were victims of identity theft while my husband was deployed and we have been struggling financially to come back from this so operation second chance stepping into help was more than I could ever ask for. Thank you Operation Second Chance and I would recommend anyone else in a critical situation to contact them!
I am a disable veteran, Operation Second Chance has helped me with plane tickets when I needed to get back to California. They did not give me a hard time I explained to them what the situation was and within 24 hours I had 2 round trip tickets for myself and my caregiver to California. During Christmas Operation Second Chance went out of their way to grant me a Christmas wish list for myself and my family they came through with the a donor and my complete wish list was granted. Operation Second Chance has been a very standup nonprofit and all of their hard work, time, and effort that they put into our veterans is very much appreciated. Thank you for all that you have done not just for me but for my family as well.
I have had the opportunity to work with OSC several times helping veterans in Florida. TOP NOTCH team!
I can't even begin to say THANK YOU enough to Operation Second Chance and Jeskya. WOW!!!
As a disabled veteran (and one with many problems), I felt personally cornered and without a way to have a little relief from it all. I was behind on my bills, my rent and had literally no food other than a few pieces of bread and some peanut butter. In the bush, we learn how to ration everything and there was simply nothing left.
I found second chance via a referral from another veteran at my local VA Regional Office. We were discussing the holidays and I obviously did not have any "cheer" in my head to remotely talk about the season. As we were talking, he said: "Hey bud, I don't know you from the next guy. However, I am good at reading "distress"". In short, I was given the website information to Operation Second Chance.
After a few hours of pondering (knowing how many scams are out there), I got on the website and noticed that these folks seem to care about veterans. I applied, thinking that there would be no response or an isolated response stating "thank you, someone will get back to you in the future". To my surprise, Jeskya called me literally within hours and we had a very nice chat. There was no stress, no nose snub, no embarrassment, not even a hint of rejection. This very caring woman went out of her way to identify my needs and how she could directly impact what was a major concern in my life.
Jeskya asked me to send some identifying information via email and within a couple of hours, she called me. There are no simple words that I could ever say, to say "thank you". I will somehow Pay It Forward in the Future!
Folks: listen carefully..... This is the real deal. If they don't have a solution in their grab-bag, I am under the firm belief that they will find that answer you are seeking. Whether it's a friendly voice, referral or even financial help if they can make it happen they will. Granted, not every problem is resolved over night. However, my major problem was resolved and as a result it gave me a great nights rest and much needed peace!
What a wonderful organization filled with high energy patriots. I have been faithfully conducting fundraisers for OSC for the past six years with the full knowledge that they will ensure that all the money we raise goes towards support our nation's heroes and their families.
We all love you Cindy McGrew!
Operation second chance is the best truest to it's name of any organization. They help injured soldiers as soon as they are injured and go to walter reed. They keep families fly out and visit the injured soldier to building a house for them. They take them out to games and fishing And hunting. They truly help hundreds of soldiers that have been injured with no legs or blind in one eye as a sniper. The president Cindy mcgrew was going for ten years every day to walter reed. They deserve to win the best organization.
I have had the privilege of meeting OSC's founder, Cindy McGrew who exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism. She left a success career to begin this foundation after being moved by the soldiers in Walter Reed. She is not afraid to get her hands dirty and helps at every level; she is not a mere figurehead and face of this organization. Her love for these brave men and women is evident and her passion to help them is abundant.
My husband is a wounded warrior, therefore I have the opportunity to come in contact with many non-profits.
Operation Second Chance is one of the few non-profits that have impressed me this much. I went to them and asked for help with a situation and the next day my need was met ! Amazing organization.

Good Morning,
I want to thank Operation Second Chance for giving me the tickets to the Wizards Game. My family loved every minute of it. Tickets to watch a game in an NBA suite was a chance I probably wouldn't of had, if it wasn't for all the wonderful things that you all do! You all are awesome!!!!

Operation Second Chance is an Amazing organization that has far exceeded my expectations for support. I was injured in Afghanistan in July of 2013. I sustained several injuries, one of which was significant vision loss in my right eye due to shrapnel from a rocket hitting my face. OSC has covered the cost for a back up camera and installation in my new truck. In turn this has given me the opportunity to be a safer driver not only for myself but people around me. Since I cant see well enough out of my right eye, there are much more blind spots while backing up or switching lanes. This back-up camera covers those blind spots. Now I have great confidence in my ability to drive safely! Thank you OSC and all of the donors for making this possible!
Operation Second Chance is a wonderful organization and resource for our beloved men and women of uniform who have sacrificed so much. Many nonprofits in my opinion waste so much time and precious resources and fail not to touch the core need, this organization understands that need and delivers. I can clearly testify from many angles of observation of OSC events that a smile from a hero is badge of honor for the organization. God-speed Operation Second Chance!
Operation Second Chance is pretty phenomenal...I really appreciate the camaraderie I feel when hanging with some of the other Warriors and their families. I also understand that I wouldn't have met a lot of great people including the staff . My wife and I really appreciated some of the events that we have been to attend, it gave us a chance to do something that we may have never done otherwise.
I've had the privilege to be involved with several events with Operation Second Chance. Their helpful volunteers go to the extreme to provide support for injured prior service members. They offer an opportunity for these individuals to enjoy being able to regain the lost feeling of comradery. Meeting with the individuals being provided support has been an en-lighting experience for myself. I got to see first hand, the smiles and genuine feelings of happiness these young men were able share when we met. The brothership is a bond we all will share forever. OSC is an organizaton I will always support any way possible.
I haven't been helped in more aspects of my life than from these ppl right here .

I absolutely love this organization. It has helped me bond with others while out and about. I am suffering from PTSD and I have a hard time meeting people and making new friends because of trust issues. This organization has helped me in that sense. I can not thank the organizers and volunteers enough for the friendship and their time. Thank you OSC!!!
The story of Operation Second Chance is one of selfless service. Its founder gave up a lucrative job in the financial industry. Now, a large network of volunteers from Florida to Montana work together to provide great outings for our Wounded Warriors. Our overhead costs are low so that just over 90 cents of every dollar donated actually goes to help our Wounded Warriors. I have worked with this organization for about five years and help to conduct fishing expeditions here in the Highland Lakes of central Texas as well as hiking and camping in the Big Bend National Park. Operation Second Chance has blessed the lives of many Warriors - one at a time with care, respect and a chance to get out of the hospital environment and relax and enjoy the great outdoors.
I have been to a couple of Operation Second Chance fund raisers and a few turkey shoots for the wounded warriors and there is no better way to say Thank You to the men and women who have put them selves in arms way to protect our great country.
God bless these great warriors for our freedom!
Tim Craig.
i am proud to donate my time and resorces to operation second chance .This is truly a first class organization ,No group has given back more to our disabled veterans, with Hand on personal rehabilation, that truly makes an impact on our recovering service members. The out pouring of support is hard to believe , people giving back with no expections makes me PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN

We invite a group of Wounded Warriors to Sunrise Beach,Tx. for a weekend of fishing, fun, & food. Lodging is also provided. My observations of our our guests is that they really have an enjoyeable weekend.
I have had the opportunity to attend this event the last two years, it is just an awesome experience!!
A nice hotel for two nights, and a pro-am with a most accommodating professional golfer. The HP Byron Nelson staff are helpful in every way imaginable. Scott Beaty, our coordinator or sponsor takes us to dinner to kick it off on Saturday night and it was just a great time all the way around, if you get the opportunity to attend, I would highly recommend it! Thanks to all of you folks at Operation Second Chance!!!
Best Regards,

A group of corporations had the privilege of assisting Operation Second Chance by organizing a Sporting Clays Shoot in the Tampa/Bradenton/Sarasota area to raise funds for OSC. Our group - Operation Second Chance Florida Fun Shoot - worked with several OSC volunteers who were not only excited about what they were doing to help our veterans, but spent a great deal of time and effort helping us help them. Our 1st annual shoot was a great success in large part due to the OSC volunteers that just did what they do - help in any way they can. The OSC's office in Washington helped by putting the word out and again just doing what they do, which is give back to our veterans by keeping their overhead so low that they are able to return 90% of the funds raised directly to assist veterans. I can't say enough about how good the OSC folks are to our vets - and that isn't just my opinion; I heard that directly from the vets that attended the shoot and participated with our sponsors. Top notch organization.
I really have no words to express the feeling I had coming to this event. It's truly undescribable. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was very thankful for my sacrifice and service to our great nation. They were constantly reminding us from event to event (hole to hole) how they appreciated us. From the hotel stay to transportation to the golf course was top notch. It was great just to get out and be reminded why we have the best citizens in all the world. There is not one thing I could really complain about. Plenty of food, water and fellowship. PLEASE DO NOT STOP! If I never get to attend another event, it warms me to know someone in my shoes is. Sometimes we do feel left out, unappreciated and taken for granted. You and your organization help put that feeling asidewhich does help with our mental state to carry on. PLEASE DO NOT STOP.
I began volunteering for Operation Second Chance (OSC) in 2010. Since then I have always been impressed with the organization's ability to provide too-notch, personal care for our wounded veterans and their families. OSC operates on minimal overhead and provides over 90% of its donated funds directly to veteran support.
We were surprised and honored by the commitment Operation Second Chance has made to supporting service members who receive treatment for traumatic brain injury and PTSD at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. The volunteers were warm, kind and went above and beyond to help ease the pains of being away from home. Truly a top-notch organization!
I just happened to bump into an operation second chance worker in the hallway of Walter Reed. She was wearing the logo so I asked if they could help get tickets for an event for my son's 5th birthday. Due to the fact that we were in the process of moving, we couldn't go see family and we couldn't afford anything too expensive. By the next morning, my family had 3 tickets to one of the most popular events in D.C.... And the showing was the night of my son's birthday! I'm beyond grateful and so excited to get the opportunity to surprise my little boy with tickets to THE LION KING!
I stopped by the Operation Second Chance table at the Frederick Celtic Festival this weekend. What a GREAT organization and what AWESOME people they have working with them!!! My daughter and I can't wait to wear our Operation Second Chance t-shirts. Keep up the great work!
Dear Operation Second Chance- thank you so much for giving us tickets to The Circus @ The Verizon Center last night. My husband is a Marine and just recovering from knee surgery. This was our first time @ The Circus and what great treat for my family especially at a time like this where we have barely had time to relax!!!!!!!
Thank You!

For the last few months we were going through many changes, my husband had retired, then we move to CO and were living with relatives, we were looking for a home and the holidays were getting close. we were really happy when we hear about operation second change. our children were so happy and we were very thankful, thank you so much operation second chance for giving us the opportunity to have a wonderful christmas. and thank you for been a blessing in our lives.
Thank you for everything. my three kids loved their gifts. And to have help and the support from you was awesome. My kids were very greatful and excited. Unforturnately my oldest didn't get what she wanted, but she wasn't too upset for she was very glad that her younger siblings got gifts. Thank you so much again.
Operation Second Chance is an #1 organization. They helped make Christmas happen for our 4 little boys this past holiday season. We are a young couple struggling to make ends meet. We have been traveling the country for most of our marriage. We've been through five duty stations, one Iraq deployment, and a injury that will last a lifetime. Thank GOD Operation Second Chance has been there through our family's separation from the military. Our kids had a great Christmas thanks to OSC. They have also sent us to a couple basketball/baseball games which we would have never got the chance to do if it weren't for your support. They have been an outstanding help during this challenging time in our lives. God bless them for all they have done for us and all the other service members lives they have impacted.
This last two months my wife and I where struggling with my injuries and her resent surgery. this organization has kept my family from being homeless and starving. My kids wouldn't have a Christmas if it wasn't for them. My family and I are forever in their debt. they are the best thing to happen to us and I hope I become in the position to donate so they can help more in my position. everything they have done for my family is enough to bring a hard soldier to tears. God bless everyone who works for Operation Second Chance. My family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
This Organization is a first choice for #1 being absolutely the best at helping. Every case so far in excess of 20 has received not only help from a burden but also a team that cares. There is not enough accolades that can be given when a family needs food, or mortgages paid, or utilities taken care. If you could hear and see the response from the people you help then all would understand. I appreciate all you do and want to let everyone know these people and this Operation is 100% understanding and responsive.
After my medical retirement in 2010 my pay was dramatically reduced, with this my injuries did not change! My attitude has always kept me going but almost hindered me with the desire to do except my injuries flare shortly and back to square on where I fall in debt, with the help of operation second chance I am covered when not expected till hopefully gain my social security this final go around! Along with my AW2 rep which made this the easy cause everyone knows how hard it is to ask for help .
I was injured in Afghanistan, July 8th, 2013 while conducting a mission. I obtained a spinal cord, (neck, back and hip injury). They haven't been able to tell me the extent of the damage that was done but have ruled me a spinal cord injury. Later on in my stay at Walter Reed, they had discovered that I had a marble size tumor embedded in my spinal cord. I then had two surgeries on my spine to remove the tumor. Operation Second Chance helped me out greatly by purchasing me a memory foam bed so I could sleep comfortably and heal properly. I will be forever grateful for there kind and generous gesture!
I was deployed to Iraq from 2006-2007 and accrued injuries that made me medically unfit for the Army. I was transferred to a Warrior Transition Battalion and medically retired in April of 2013. Even though I had extensive training through the Army and College I was unsuccessful for over 7 months to acquire employment. The compensation I receive from the VA is less than half of what I have made on active duty and I scrambled to pay bills. My daughter and myself lived paycheck to paycheck and I had to go to local charities and Veterans Organizations to get food, clothes and necessary items to survive.
In October of 2013 all my resources were exhausted and I was on the verge of loosing my Car. Operation Second Chance was contacted through my AW2 rep 4 days before my Car was going to be repossessed. Operation Second Chance immediately paid my outstanding bill and I was able to keep my Car. If it wasn't for Operation Second Chance, I would have lost my Car and my means of transportation.
I am so grateful that this Organization is there to help Veterans like me. We need more Organizations like them and I believe they are Angels sent from heaven.
THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!
Vera
On 7-28-2013, I received a call that no parent ever wants to get! My youngest son, while deployed to Afghanistan had been shot in his right leg & elbow, when their camp came under attack. Another soldier was KIA. My son underwent 3 surgeries before returning back to the USA. The shot to his elbow left him with nerve damage to his elbow/arm/hand. Upon his return stateside, my son underwent another surgery for nerve replacement. With the help of organizations like Operation Second Chance, I was able to be by my sons side for a month supporting & caring for him physically & emotionally. When OSC was contacted to help my family the response was immediate. OSC showed me that our military & their families do matter. My son may need another surgery & his road to recovery will be a long one but many Thanks to OSC for their care, concern & support my family received while caring for my son. It was one less burden to worry about. I was able to concentrate on caring for my son & OSC realized that. Family truly is the best medicine.
Your organization is awesome!!! We needed a plane ticket for a Soldier (Purple Heart Recipient) who needed to get home quickly for the upcoming holiday to see his ailing grandmother and Operation Second Chance handled the need quickly and professionally. This Soldier has not seen his grandmother for over a year due to surgeries and extensive hospitalizations. I his Social Worker contacted 9 agencies and they were one of two who responded to this Soldier's need. The representative from Operation Second Chance responded within 30 minutes. What a relief it is to know that there are some organizations out there who still care about the remaining Soldiers deployed for the purpose of protecting our freedoms. Soldiers are still being deployed and coming back injured and Operation Second Chance showed care and concern. Thank you, thank you and thank you again!!!
They brought together buses of veterans with a fishing town, Chesapeake Beach, MD. We were paraded into town as heroes with community, motorcycle and law enforcement escorts. We were taken on fishing boats in the morning. We were given sunglasses, hats, keepsakes and brunch on board while pulling in Chesapeake Bay stripers. We were then treated to a cook out at Bayside Baptist Church with, among many other delicious food, our freshly caught fish. That was a day I will remember forever.
My husband is a wounded warrior. We found out about OSC through a friend. We were able to attend a retreat at Cindy the founders house in Tilghman island. It was an amazing weekend. Very relaxing, we felt v ery welcomed as if we were family. Cindy and all the OSC staff werw so kind and touched our hearts leaving special memories. A few weeks later we were in a bind I was hospitalized and we had no income because my husband was transitioning out of the Army. OSC was able to provide finnancial support for gas and school supplies. I am also honored to be running the MCM 10k next week for OSC and I have beem fundraising to help such an amazing non profit!
Operation Second Chance is one over the top organization!
I learned of OSC 4 yrs ago while doing volunteering for our local PGR chapter. I was so impressed with OSC's dedication to our wounded vet I had to be a part of this.
Since then my husband and I have raised more than $12,000 for OSC mostly with an annual fundraiser in my home town. We do this independently and donate all the monies to OSC.
The board members of OSC are so personable and dedicated you can't help but feed off of this attitude.
Cindy, Rich, Adam, Frank w/OSC are all wonderful people and I do whatever I can to help raise awareness of their cause.
They're on their way to becoming THE BEST nonprofit AND they keep their overhead down to a minimum so nearly all the money raised goes to our wounded vets and their families.
Operation Second Chance has EXCEEDED my expectations. When I ran into a brick wall trying to assist a spouse of a veteran who suddenly passed away, Operation Second Chance stepped up to the plate with no hesitation. During the most critical time in the spouse's life, Operation Second Chance gave them the peace of mind of being able to bury their American Hero!! THANK YOU Operation Second Chance for EVERYTHING!!
Operation Second Chance recently made it possible for me to have a long overdue date with my wounded warrior husband. They made everything really easy and stress free. Usually making plans and figuring everything out is more trouble than its worth, but these guys totally eliminated the hassle. They arranged for concert tickets, parking, and even hand delivered them to me. The entire night was wonderful, and the seats were great! Just getting away was both refreshing and rejuvenating! I wanted to throw out a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who made this happen for us. This organization is amazing! They really understand about the little things.
At my time of need Operation Second Chance did not hesitate to help. I was not sure how sincere the offer would be but OSC within days called my wife directly and told her they will help ASAP! That was so refining to actually receive assistance to help secure my family. My family and I are truly grateful!
My name is Joseph I am an Army veteran. Operation Second Chance helped me get my service dog.
They are great.
Operation Second Chance has been outstanding. I reached out for assistance not sure what to expect, and immediately they went to work. Within two days my issue was resolved. I am extremely thankful for everything and especially for all you do.
Operation Second Chance is an amazing non-profit organization that assisted my family during our time of need while at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and once my husband was medically retired. Cindy McGrew and OSC works tirelessly to provide care for soldiers and their families. Whether it is through financial assistance, family support or just a fun event to allow our minds to not focus on our current reality. I cannot stress the help that was provided to myself and my family with love and compassion. The salon days organized for us wives to just get a hair cut, because taking care of yourself is not a top priority when in our situations, were simply a blessing. The events for our children put a smile on their faces when life was tough. And the support provided to the wounded warriors is beyond anything expected. My husband and I are so grateful for this organization we try whenever possible to assist with fundraising, most recently with my daughters Girl Scout troop donating a percentage of their cookie sales. OSC & Cindy continue to be a blessing in our lives!
I love volunteering for Operation Second Chance and working with Cindy has been a very life positive life changing experience. Cindy as well as other Operation Second Chance members are so kind and work so hard to be able to immediately assist in anyway possible any wounded, injured and ill combat veteran and their families. This organization allows me to be able to be a part of a community to give back and provide support as much as we can to these men and women who have sacrificed so much on behalf of us and our great nation.
Our little town in Montana brings veterans and their families out to participate in both summer and winter activities that our state has to offer. You can see the happy faces of the families as they relax and have fun, possibly forgetting, if for just awhile, the reality of their lives.
I am a 100% OIF/IEF veteran that was in need of financial assistance for rent. They came to my rescue when crunch time was there and I really appreciated it. They were very professional and very understanding of my needs and went out of the way to accommodate me.
Operation Second Chance offered us immediate assistance with airfare when my husband's father required a quadrupel bypass and we had to fly to California immediately within a 24 hour notice. No other organization were able to do so, but Operation Second Chance stepped up and was able to grant us this gift. We are forever grateful for that. Cindy McGrew is wonderful woman that truly understands the need of our Wounded Warriors and their families.
I have volunteered for an OSC event, Operation Hope on the Chesapeake, since 2010 and it has been nothing short of wonderful. Cindy, along with all other volunteers, really go above and beyond to do what is right for our wounded warriors and their families: show them how greatly appreciated they are for sacrificing everything for us by doing whatever is necessary to assist them in any way necessary. OSC provides not only financial support, but also emotional support, because every member of this organization truly does care about the physical and emotional well being of our military, wounded or not, as well as their loved ones.
I first met Cindy and her group early in their existence when my son was at Walter Reed AMC. If not for her I am not sure how we would have managed. The Army doesn't help parents of single soldiers much so her assistance and guidance meant the world to us. She and OSC will forever be in our thoughts and prayers. A great organization that started with one person who was willing to give of herself to others. Bless you Cindy, you are the best.
Sincerely yours,
Michael S. Oreskovic
Proud parent of a soldier
I've been associated with Cindy McGrew and Operation Second Chance for many years and this is one organization making sure every dollar donated is put toward its goal...helping heroes move on. This organization is on the ground every day meeting the needs of service members and their families, financially and emotionally, recover from injuries received while serving our country. Thank you Cindy for your service to those who have served us and God bless you and the U.S.A.
Cindy and Operation Second Chance provide support for our wounded veterans and their families at a very personal level; treating them like family and helping them move on to the next phase of their lives. OSC gives me the connection I needed to be able to do something to help those men and women that have given so much of themselves for us. Larry S.
This is an amazing organization guided by the passion and leadership of Cindy McGrew and her team that work purely from their heart. OSC provide so much to help in transitioning injured war heroes back to civilian life. It's easy to donate money and time to help OSC grow and spread its love/service to those that have served our country. Thank you ALL!
My family and I are so lucky of been part of the generosity of this organization, not only in the material side but in the personal side their care is sincere and they are always finding a way to help you through the rough times; I don't have enough words to say thank you for your care and the way that my family and I are treated with respect and love.

Operation Second Chance has been the best. Because of them I have been able to go and do things that I would most likely not get to do until way in the future. Not to mention they have given me the opportunity do things that I have never done nor ever thought of doing. I will continue to to work with Operation Second Chance even after I have healed, because then I will work on giving back what has been given to me to future Wounded Warriors!!!!!!! Thank You to Everyone at Operation Second Chance and all the Donors and Volunteers, Spc Ed Rose, U.S. Army Reserves, Injured 2011.
On 12/21/10, my husband, stepped on an IED while on foot patrol in Kandahar Afganistan. We have been at Walter Reed, since. Our small family of 4 have relocated to the Bethesda MD area to support our Hero in his recovery to the "New Normal." Operation Second Chance has been able to help us have some type of normality, in this concrete jungle that is not our home. They assisted in helping people within the community, adopt our family last year for Christmas. Making our Christmas truely a blessed event. They have also helped us to have fun within the community. Helping my daughter (who's 17years old) have a little fun in a strange place. They are always willing to help and are so compassionate. We love Operation Second Chance.
Discovered Operation Second Chance in 2007 and learned of their extraordinary work supporting returning hero's like Andrew Kinnard , my son's roommate at Navy. Joined Ride Allegheny to start raising money to help OSC continue their support of returning hero's that have given so much. Cindy McGrew, OSC's founder, is one of the most inspirational, dedicated and committed individuals I have ever met. She is a true professional that committed to doing what is necessary to support these young men and women and their many unique needs during their recovery.
Amazing organization guided by the passion and leadership of Cindy and Adam that work purely from their heart. OSC has effectively bridged the gaps in transitioning injured war heroes back to civilian life. It's easy to donate money and time to help OSC grow and spread its love/service to those that have served our conutry. This is a fantastic organization that feels like a family. The people who run it are extremely warm and caring. It’s obvious they truly care about the wounded warriors that the help on a daily basis. I raised funds for OSC this year and it’s good to know that the vast majority of that money is spent on the soldiers who need it and not nonprofit organizational overhead.
I raised funds for OSC this year as part of Ride Allegheny, a bike ride that raises money exclusively for OSC every year. I looked into the organization to know what I was asking of my family and friends and I can say I felt so good working on behalf of Cindy and OSC. It is efficient, small, local and truly impactful. I spent time with Cindy and met some veterans with her on the ride this year and was so proud to have helped her cause. I recommend her work 100% and can't wait to help again next year with this worthy, important mission.
OSC does absolutely wonderful work for soldiers and their families who are making a very difficult transition back to civilian society. The work they do on a daily basis is making the difference is so many lives. These are dedicated people who have caring hearts and respect for our military heroes. I am honored to be associated with them.
Due to the fact that the Va and the Army are very slowly processing my claim I have had some depression issues and there have been times that I did not know how I was going to support my family. I started a google search and I found Operation Second Chance not only did they help me by gifting me gift cards to buy some food but they also have been able to get me out of the house on some wonderful trips and events and they have even had some events for my wife. This is one of the best organization out there I do believe.
When I first began visiting our injured soldiers and marines in 2004, I wanted to make a difference in their lives. I wanted to remove some stress from their families lives. OSC tries to fill in the gaps. Whether its help paying rent, utilities, travel or groceries, OSC is there to help. We offer spa days to caregivers, retreats, hunting and fishing and so much more. We try to help one hero at a time....
They have had alot of spa events that are great for the wounded warrior caregivers to take some time for themselves.
Operation second chance is an awesome organization. They have helped our family in so many ways, but just last month they had a bathroom in our basement finished for us! They help out with christmas gifts for our kids and also sent my husband (a wounded soldier) and I on a couples retreat so we could have some time to relax. Cindy Mcgrew is an angel and is so very special to us. This group is amazing!!!
One of the greatest non profit organizations. I am a wife of a wounded soldier, an osc was there all the way with spa days, family functions for the kids and other relaxation and support when it was most needed.
Second chance is a wonderful organization that has helped the Wounded Warriors and their families here at Walter Reed National Military Hospital. They have helped make my stay here not as stressful as it could be. It has been wonderful to have their volunteers set up trips for us to enjoy!!!
I first became involved with this organization as a wounded warrior when OSC went far above and beyond all other non profits during my recovery at WRNMC and NNMC. Today OSC continues to provide that same high level of support to our returning veterans and their families and I feel very fortunate to have been able to play a role within the organization on both sides of the coin.
Just because I never served a day in the Military doesn't mean i don't want to serve my country. A day doesn't go by that i don't think of my father and the values he instilled in our family to serve God / our country and our fellow man, to live and honest life and help those that can't help themselves He made me who i am today and i am thankful for that. Operation Second Chance has giving me the tools to carry on my journey to give back to those that have given much more for their country. in reallity i feel i get more out of the program then the Veterans do ,knowing their needs are being met. I have met some great soldiers over the past few years while supporting OSC and many have become friends as well as extendent family members. healing comes from both sides civilian as well as military it's not always about the dollars we send in but more importantly the time well spent in the aid and recovery with those Men and Women that stood the wall to keep our children and freedoms safe at night. I ask myself every day will these Men and Women be fogotten once the fighting is done? I tell my myself I sure hope not.
Operation Second Chance (OSC) helped my husband and I during our darkest hour. Cindy McGrew, the president and founder, and her event volunteers, gave us an opportunity to get out of the hospital after his injury and it was on a fishing trip with OSC that I saw my husband smile for the first time since he returned from Iraq - months before. OSC helped my husband to see the bright side again and brought him out of his deep depression. Thank you Cindy and OSC - we are forever in your debt!!
When we first met Mrs. McGrew we were in Walter Reed and she always organized all kind of trips an entertainment for the soldiers and their family. I ran to her again at Operation Homefront where she comes every week to expend time with the spouses doing scrapbooks providing all materials, this organization goes above and beyond their duty and Cindy is so open to comprehend and understand the stress and the pain we are going through. Thanks for everything,
Cindy23456 03/24/2016
Thank you for the feedback. Operation Second Chance provides assistance to post 9/11 veterans with a 70% or higher VA Rating (this would include, but is not limited to OIF and OEF veterans). We would be happy to review our criteria with you. Please reach out to us by email to assistance@operationsecondchance.org for more information.
