Programs: Education - opendoors of asheville provides wrap-around services for up to 50 students with a focus on students in middle school through college graduation who are enrolled in public, private, and charter schools. Services include advocacy, tutoring, transportation, nutrition assistance, clothing assistance, psycho-educational testing, job placement, after-school activities, technology, field trips, tuition assistance. Services provided to students are highly individualized with the end goal being students prepared to enter and complete college with little to no student debt.
enrichment - opendoors provides enrichment opportunities to students growing up in multigenerational poverty with the goals for each age group of students specifically targeted to meet the needs for that particular peer group. The focus for middle school students is to offer enrichment opportunities with an arts focus that increase vocabulary and expand points of reference. High school students are offered near-peer mentoring by students and staff members who grew up in multigenerational poverty
advocacy - opendoors provides school-based advocacy in partnership with parents for students growing up in multigenerational poverty and not meeting their acedemic potential in school. Advocacy is individualized and based upon student needs and is directed by staff members with experience advocating for students within the school environment.
