Mission: Open aid alliance is dedicated to engaging and empowering hard to reach and underserved individuals by promoting harm reduction and compassionate care. We prevent hiv, hepatitis c and sexually transmitted infections through testing, education and outreach in western montana.
Programs: Provided more than 70 eligible individuals living with hiv/aids in seventeen western montana counties with short or long-term housing assistance, intensive case management, and other services.
conducted 337 hiv tests, 185 hepatitis c tests and 74 chlamydia and gonorrhea screening tests. Our testing program targets high risk individuals with significant risk factors. This program also provides hiv 101 educational programs for youth throughout missoula county.
the syringe exchange program seeks to reduce harms associated with injection drug use. In 2016, the program provided supplies to 736 people and saw 3,581 visits to the exchange. The syringe exchange provided 156,143 clean syringes and collected 83,997 syringes for safe disposal. In addition to clean injection supplies, the program engages people with addiction in meaningful conversations about improving health and safety, accessing services, and reducing negative consequences to self, family and community.
