Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Crime & Law, Legal Services, Nonprofit Management

Mission: OneJustice's mission is to increase access to legal help for underserved Californians by building infrastructure and partnerships in the legal community. OneJustice believes that justice is a right for all. Every day we work with lawyers and law students to empower California's most vulnerable people-people who need legal help just to gain their most basic civil rights and to meet essential human needs. These are rights and needs most of us take for granted, like food, housing, health care, and education. If these are denied, many of us can fight for them ourselves, but low-income people often need legal help to obtain these basic life necessities. OneJustice makes sure the help is there when it's needed.

OneJustice facilitated a Board Self-Assessment process for my organization at a time when we were struggling to move forward after a difficult transition. The experience was transformative for Board members, staff, and the organization. The skills and expertise that OneJustice brought to the process, and their intimate understanding of legal non-profits, was outstanding.

I also had the good fortune to be selected to participate in the first class of the OneJustice Executive Fellowship program. All legal non-profit leaders would benefit from this superlative experience.

I have had the privilege of helping OneJustice tell their inspiring stories through video and have been thoroughly impressed with the passion and dedication of the organization's leaders and wonderful staff.

One Justice facilitated our organization's first ever board evaluation survey and retreat -- a terrific experience. The legal services field is extraordinarily fortunate to have the professional resource that One Justice provides -- the staff is exceptional and understands how to help our organization improve and do the best job we can for our clients.

One-Justice's passion for giving is what drew me to them. I work with a different non-profit group each month as our "Community Partner" and the One-Justice team came in with their proverbial "Guns blazing". Each member of the team pulled out all stops to encourage support of the partnership to raise money and awareness of their cause.

The volunteers who participate in the Justice Bus are just a few of people that One-Justice has inspired to give back. I look forward to continuing our partnership and helping such a great organization change lives.

OneJustice is one of our favorite nonprofits. The staff is so passionately committed to protecting the rights of Californians in need -- and they're smart. They get big things done with minimal resources. They are social justice champions who make a big impact.

I attended the OneJustice "Opening Doors to Justice" event on July 13, 2011 at the Westin in San Francisco and the event was amazing! The scope of their organization really captured my attention and there was a great crowd. The networking was a great bonus as well. I will definitely attend future OneJustice events.

I have been involved with One-Justice for about a year and a half. Originally, I connected around our shared interest in creating an educational program that would help legal services leaders significantly improve their ability to manage and lead their organizations. This is now the OneJustice Executive Fellows Program.

In the process of collaborating with OneJustice, I have developed great admiration for their advocacy and educational work. The staff is dedicated and extraordinarily competent -- and Julia Wilson, the Executive Director is the most talented and committed ED I have had the pleasure to work with and support. And needless to say, in the process, I have become a donor and a volunteer for OneJustice.
