God brought us to OBI over 5 years ago. God is using OBI to reach the world for the gospel. Sharing Gods word with the students is such a joy. My husband and I work with the BCM group. Teaching them truths from Gods word . We have many different service project we do each year. Below are a few pictures of some of the service projects we have done with the students. As a ministry we need you to be part of all God is doing here. Your financial help will give us the tools to reach more students for the gospel of Christ. As each class graduates, the teachings of Gods word that has been instilled in the students goes with them unto the utter most part of the world. I invite you to be part of this amazing work of God. Thank you for all you do to make OBI what it is and what it will be.
Oneida Baptist Institute is a terrific private Christian school located in the mountains of eastern Kentucky. For over 100 years OBI has served the local students of this region and, for much of that history, students from across the globe. In what may seem like the most unlikely of places, one will find in this rural Appalachian community languages that span every continent being spoken on its campus. True to its mission to provide "Education for Time and Eternity", OBI continues to literally make disciples of all nations. Whether in the classroom, on the athletic field, or in the dormitories, OBI is that beautiful picture of a city shining on a hill, where every day the cross is held high over the mountains declaring Christ as King.
My wife and I joined OBI in August 2002 and served for five years. She managed the kitchen and I taught. During those five years, we saw many students grow, mature, turn their lives around, and some gave their lives to Christ. We were blessed by the change in student’s lives over those years.
In 2007, at the age of 65, we retired to Florida. Since our retirement, we have returned many times to help with various needs at the school. Now at the age of 75, we are back serving fulltime, watching young lives change and see graduates return and tell their stories of what OBI has meant to them. God is touching hearts and minds daily in this remote corner of Kentucky.
I was provided a wonderful educational experience at Oneida Baptist. I attended the school for 4 years as a boarding student, because I did not have a home. The staff and faculty took me in and treated me as their own. After graduating, I was able to receive a full scholarship to a university because of the academics I was able to obtain while a student at OBI.
We love Oneida Baptist Institute, it's mission, students and the Godly people that serve here. It has truly been a blessing to us as we served here in a teaching capacity for three years. It is the perfect place for many students, and the truth of the Gospel shines bright on this campus.
Our family loves OBI! The people are amazing and the ministry that happens there is life changing. The teachers care deeply for the students. My son was struggling to get through his classes. (partly due to being a bit lazy) He struggles with test taking. He would know the material and when the test was put in front of him he would draw a blank...test anxiety. The teachers worked to overcome this with him and help him succeed. When he was in other schools he was just a number. At OBI our kids matter. What a blessing.
I have been teaching at OBI for three years and have two children who attend grade school in their lower school. It has been such a blessing to fellowship with other strong believers in Christ and to work in Christian Ministry! My children have grown in their faith and due to the smaller class sizes, are doing very well scholastically. THere are multiple opportunities to share my faith with my students and pray with them over everything in their lives. My walk with the Lord has deepened and I love watching the same thing happen in the lives of the students.
In my many visits to Oneida Baptist Institute, I have witnessed the loving care shown to the young people who come to this special place in Kentucky from all over the world. They not only receive a high-class education from professional educators, but they learn how to be responsible citizens, and make valuable contributions to our society. They experience "family" at Oneida and have opportunities to make life-long friendships. Oneida is truly a "Gem in the mountains of Kentucky."
