Mission: To enhance the social and economic conditions of artisans around the world through fair trade by providing a marketplace for their products and increasing awareness in americans of global poverty and economic injustice.
Programs: Our primary purpose is to provide a fair trade outlet in the greater rochester, ny area for artisans in developing countries around the world. We also provide a fair trade outlet for craft items made at several 501 (c) (3) organizations located in the rochester, ny area. They are primary shelters for physically and drug abused women and children. We estimate that our sale of goods made in developing countries have provided a decent income for about 1,500 families.
as part of our support for other local greater rochester 501 (c) (3) organizations, we hosted several evenings in our store where their volunteers may shop and we then donate 20% of such sales to their organizations. This year proceeds went to grmotc, saint place, lung force, gandhi institute, friends of irondequoit library, bsa troop 375, project chacocente, mendon storm baseball, hochstein school of music and dance, peo, city waves swim team, lauralton pardee pta, st. Josephs neighborhood center, joining hearts and hands ltd, ashbury first united methodist church storehouse, rochester women's network, and raihn.
the second part of our mission is to educate americans living in the greater rochester area about the issues related to global poverty and fair trade.
