From working behind the scenes at OWCF, I have found this fiscal sponsor to be a very reputable organization. With OWCF's passion in empowering grassroots organizations to connect with donors in the United States, some of the biggest lessons I have learned is from being part of the grassroots member organization audition process and learning about the seriousness taken in the uphold of their accountability. I found the greatest enjoyment in contacting the member organizations directly and learning about their different programs.
We are grateful to be one of One World Children Fund's grassroots partners. As a small, community-based organization located in Kenya, our partnership with One World has allowed us to raise funds that have kept our doors open for the past 10+ years. One World provides a reliable and legitimate avenue for donors internationally to support our work in Kenya, without the burdensome administrative fees of other similar organizations. One World also creates a forum for us to share with and learn from other community-based organizations that is extremely valuable for us. We have cherished our partnership with One World and look forward to many more years of engagement with them!
I became a One World Children’s Fund Champion for the Centre for Domestic Training and Development in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2015. I was immediately drawn to the mission of One World: “Helping Children in Poverty by Empowering the Grassroots Organizations that Serve Them.” One World founders saw the importance of grassroots organizations that work to better their communities, and developed a model to enhance their efforts by increasing their exposure to givers around the globe. I was already involved in a grassroots organization in Kenya, the CDTD, which helped train women from the slums in Nairobi in domestic skills, and educated their prospective employers about workers’ rights. The CDTD had expanded to include a shelter for trafficked and abused girls. I was impressed by One World’s due diligence in vetting the member organizations, which happens on an annual basis, and by the accessibility of its directors and board to both champions and members. In addition to developing access to new givers through its own efforts, OWCF provides connections to programs that offer free cutting-edge education and support on how to reach fundraising goals. OWCF keeps its own expenses very low, asking for only a 4% addition to donations to cover operating costs. I’ve seen first-hand the benefits of partnering with OWCF, and am proud to be a Champion.
One World Childrens Fund has supported women and children throughout the globe. But locally, here in East Palo Alto, CA we have an after school program called Girls to Women. It's a terrific way to support girls as they learn, explore, and become better students with ambitions for higher education.
I included one of their grantees in my most recent book about NGOs around the world. I presented a slide lecture to their donors. I met with their Board. I went to university with their founder.
This organization has a unique structure: locally run, but with a champion volunteer to do fund raising for each grantee. A successful, efficient system others should copy!
I love how this small, well run, nonprofit works closely with local organizations around the world to help community members -- primarily children -- in tangible and meaningful ways. One World Children’s Fund is a place where a little support goes far!
Its been awesome working with one world childrens fund without their support we could miss out on some of the funding that is crucial for the lives of the vulnerable children.we rely on OWCF to be our link .
We are a partner with OWCF, and they support us and over 40 other small, grass-root organizations around the world with administration, fundraising and transparency to all donors. Instead of each of these individual organizations creating their own infrastructure and staff in the US to manage fundraising and communications, they have centralized this critical work so money can go directly to the work and programming in the specific countries. We are beyond lucky to partner with an organization that is much more cost effective.
I've donated to an organization via One World Children's Fund four times a year for the last three years. Sometimes I do it online, sometimes I do it via a check, and sometimes I do an electronic funds transfer. Each time, they have handled it quickly and sent my paperwork promptly. It's an amazing service they provide to allow grassroots organizations to raise money without having to set up their own administration. The amount of money and time they save these small but critical organizations is crucial to their ability to operate, and as a donor, it gives me confidence that my money will get directly to those in need.
My family has supported this organization for 12 years and they always take great care to choose the best and most needy grassroots global organizations from North and South America to Africa to support. One World is truly looking after our one world. We are lucky to have known the founders and to host fundraisers at our house and to be a part of making a better place for those less fortunate.
One World Children’s Fund is a great organization. We were having a terrible time getting the funds we collected in the states down to Nicaragua for our preschool and feeding project. OWCF stepped right up. They got the money wired to a local bank so the kids were fed and the teachers paid. They also gave us fundraising leads and tips, put us in touch with other organizations from whom we learned more. They are efficient and effective while truly caring about the people served and the donors. I am proud to work with them
It has been an awesome relationship with one world children fund. We are very happy with the keen interest they have in the community we serve. Of particular importance is not only the ease of processing the funds directed through the OWCF but also the informative Classy office hours we have held with them. Through this partnership Ujima has made a lot of gains in its quest to ensure that all children live within a family set up. OWCF has given us a unique platform to share our stories connect with wider stakeholders and forge new partnerships.
One World Children's Fund (OWCF) is a vital partner for us at Wezesha Impact. The partnership with OWCF has enabled us to connect with donors and champions in the United States; to engage in professional development conversations; and to access tax exempt donations through fiscal sponsorship.
What we love the most about OWCF is how they have worked to build a deep relationship with us at Wezesha Impact. Through this partnership, OWCF is actually co-creating positive impact for thousands of children and youth in the communities that Wezesha Impact serves directly in Uganda and broadly in East Africa.
IWe have seen it grow from a spark of an idea to an exceptionally fine organization in just a few years time. I am so proud of the innovative work that is helping raise the potential of hundreds (or more) children around the world--children who will become our future leaders. The organization is efficient and encourages grass root local leadership.
One World Children's Fund is incredibly transparent in their approach, and fully embraces the ideal of operating with trust. It's awesome to see this organization gain additional traction, and further its reach with new board members (September 2019).
The Pa-O National Development Organization is non-profit organization and ensure that the children ages 5 to 18 years from Thailand-Myanmar border areas and Myanmar have access to formal and informal education in Myanmar and Thailand. We had already completed many projects like Dinning Hall and Kitchen for the school and Children's Home project in Thailand and youth empowerment program sponsored by One World Childrens Fund. We value our partnership with One World Childrens Fund and are proud of the work they are doing with the global community members. We love One World Childrens Fund helped the children all over the world.
Kliptown Youth Program (KYP) of South Africa had the good fortune to join One World Children's Fund partnership "family" in 2016, and what a difference it has made to our organization and the lives of the children we serve! One World's attractive online platform and related tools have enabled us to significantly expand our fundraising capacity, making it much easier for our loyal fans to support our work and providing an efficient way for new international visitors to donate during or after tours at KYP. With growing resources, we continue to improve and expand our programs serving Kliptown youth and giving hope to our community.
We also appreciate the interest that One World's Executive Director, August Pabst, has shown in getting to know us and learning about our organization. We greatly value that personal relationship, along with assistance of One World's COO, Laurel Adcock, in answering our many questions about donation reports, etc. Thank you, One World Children's Fund!!
If it was not for One world we(Kindle Orphan Outreach) couldnt get our seed grant of 10000USD from Prestorn werner ventures. Our org is a grassroot organisation without 501c status but our partnership with One world has made things easier. We are reaching the unreached today. You are the best
One world supported us to connect with friends and supporters in the US to raise funds to complete our community inclusion hub for children with disabilities and their families in Kibera Slum, Kenya.
As a young organization , working with One World helped us attract support and receive it in a timely way to support us to complete our hub.
Shared Action Africa (SAA) is a nonprofit registered in Uganda that is focused on promoting economic development for rural women, youth and their families through access to financial and business training prior to linkage to tailored and affordable financial services. SAA partnered with One World Children's Fund in 2014, and since then, we have accessed services and resources that would be out of reach for a global south nonprofit like SAA with no physical presence or legal status in the US. Through this partnership, SAA receives fiscal sponsorship which has enabled us to access funding from US donors and foundations at no cost. We have also benefited from direct non restricted funding from OWCF and travel grants that have supported both our programs and networking activities. More importantly, OWCF is transparent and accountable to its partners, and I particularly love its practice of involving its partners in its grant making process. It for these reasons that I will continue being part of the OWCF global family and looking forward to a long mutually beneficial partnership.
OWCF serves as a fiscal sponsor for my Kenya-based organization, and as such support us through mentoring and exposure.
One World Children's fund invited me to San Francisco earlier this year to connect with potential funders and share our story. I was lovingly hosted by the Chairperson of the board Ralph Mc Leran and his wife Deborah. I spoke to friends and partners of OWCF and managed to unlock new support and funding in the US. every $200 that we receive from the US helps us train a young person from the poorest homes in the slums with marketable skills that lift them and their family out of poverty.
OWCF share our vision for young people from the slums of Lilongwe Malawi and commit to ensuring we secure the funds we need to do our work by actively sharing about the work that we do and opening up new opportunities for learning, support and funding.
I am very impressed by the One World Children Fund (OWCF) and the support they have offered to us over the last four years. We have been assisted to link up with new donors and our budget has increased from 100,000USD to 450,000USD over the last four years. This would not have been possible without their support.
Dr Robert Kalyesubula
President, ACCESS Uganda
One World Children's Fund provides crucial services to the non-profit in South Africa that I represent as Co-Champion - the Kliptown Youth Program in Soweto, Johannesburg. By providing fiscal sponsorship, a giving platform, database support, and safe international transfer of funds, the organization is able to raise critical funds in the US to support its work lifting the children of the Kliptown township out of poverty. Their tutoring programs, twice daily meals, school fees and uniforms, performing arts and sports offerings would not be capable of serving the 460 children who rely on them daily without US dollars. On behalf of KYP, I am grateful to OWCF for its expertise and support of its work. We could not do it without you!
Great organisation with proven transparency and evaluation policies. Effective and working with small organisations the organisation believes local people are best suited to making decisions
One world children's fund is simply doing a great work for the world! Their approach and the dedicated involvement helps many charities like us in many ways!!! When we struggled to get the donations from the US, we came to know about OWCF. Our champion Prof Patricia Moran started working together with One World and now all our issues are sorted out and the donations are transferred simply without any hassles!!! They provide a timely support in a professional way... Thanks One World!!! Love, Madhan
Akili Dada has been with OWCF for the past 8 years and all we've know is mutual respect, insumountable support and a desire to be the best in what the organisation set out to do-to serve children worldwide.
OWCF staff and board are passionate and driven to bring about lasting change in the world. They will go out of their way to attend to the partners' needs. They help organise fundraising house parties, host bazaars where the partners can talk about their work and recently started raising additional support for partners to further their work. Their additional support is especially critical since its mostly focused on hard-to-raise budget lines such as unrestricted funds that allow some flexibility to a partner or travel grantees to attend that critical meeting, event or training.
OWCF operates from a place of trust for the grassroot partners that they work with. This is important because it gives the grassroots partners the 'street creed' in the donor spaces that allows them to access more funding for the work being done on the ground.
As a fiscal sponsor to many organisations especially from the global south, OWCF does not charge the partner any fees for processing the funds that come from funders in the US- they transfer 100% of the funders to the intended partner.
OWCF listens to the partners and hosts monthly calls with the partners to facilitate a co-learning and networking space where the partners can speak freely about their issues and OWCF can also share their views, take lessons and ask for support as needed. This way of working with partners dismantles power dynamics that sometimes can hinder progress in the social justice space.
OWCF is the best fiscal sponsor organisation ever. We are a non-profit organisation based in Nairobi Kenya investing in girls and young women from underresourced backgrounds. We've partnered with OWCF since 2010 and so far, its been a great relationship of support, mutual respect and championing our work and of other non-profits in Africa and India. OWCF actively connects us to other funders, hosts fundraisers for us and is generally very resourceful. The team at OWCF is friendly, helpful, dedicated and will go out of their way to ensure a partner has what they need to succeed or serve their constituents better.
The organization is top notch! It has always been a passion of mine to help children in struggling nations have the life and opportunities I was blessed with. This organization is different because the impact they make are at a grass roots level eliminating the need to work through intermediary organizations. This allows the funding to go straight to the project and make immediate impact in the work being done.
I have been a donor to One World for many years and have seen them grow to serve more children every year, while maintaining their personal touch and integrity. They have a unique model (see their web site for the details) which increases their fundraising capability for Partner projects all over the world, without increasing their overhead costs (because volunteer "Champions" raise the funds in the US for each Partner). In addition, because they fund raise separately for their owner operational expenses, they do not take a fee from the money donated to support any particular Partner. So, 100% of any donation to a Partner goes to that Partner, minus any credit card fees, etc. They also help the smaller nonprofits and NGOs that are too small to get the notice and receive support from the big US nonprofits. A great organization, efficiently run and serving thousands of children and their caregivers all over the world.
This is a great non-profit whose funds go directly to the children who need them. It enables local partners all over the world to accomplish their giaks.
One World Children's Fund (OWCF) makes it possible to support organizations and people that best know how to provide services in their own community. Having worked in international aid and development, I have been part of the large fundraising machines for non-governmental organizations and U.N. Agencies. I have seen the breakdown of what goes to international staff versus national (in-country) staff. By supporting community-based grassroots organizations, OWCF levels the playing field. They ensure partner organizations directly receive funds to do their important work with no middlemen. OWCF also provides a way for champions, like me, to support partner organizations (Tunaweza Fund - KCBRP in Tanzania) and issues and people that I care deeply for from a distance.
As the original organisation(People First Educational Trust) that OWCF supported we can attest to the high standards of accountability, transparency, and ethical standards present in all of their work.
The champions model adopted by OWCF is unique and innovative and enables fund raisers for vetted projects to raise money for their cause with support and professional guidance .
The commitment of the team to enable effective giving is remarkable.
The organisation represents a real alternative to donating to large organisations with large running costs who often do not a positive impact at grass roots level.
I believe in change. I believe that everybody should have equal opportunity to live decently with all basic needs met. I have experienced poverty first hand and I know children's access to education, health, and a safe-clean environment to grow is an Xfactor for real change.
I give and put my energy to support One World Children's Fund (www.owcf.org) because this organization promotes true change for many communities around the world by provide access to education, health, and shelter to children less fortunate while empowering and trusting local grassroots organizations and leaders.

One World is one of kind organization when it comes to the genuineness of working with grassroots organizations and local people. While philanthropy struggles to support and recognize the effectiveness of local leadership, One World champions in working with them, advocates, puts them at the table and not just on the menu. Real changes are Happening, communities are seeing progress they've never seen before with the traditional top down approach, and children lives are being extraordinarily improved. I love it!

I first found out about One World through a friend of mine, who was formerly a development officer with an internationally well-known and respected NGO that offers medical care onsite to refugees and refugee-resettlement services. This friend was selected to be the Executive Director of One World, and so I learned more about it and began to donate, mostly because I had faith that my money was actually going to help impoverished children in their countries of origin. I had this faith, because I respect the executive director and because One World puts each of their international grassroots Partners through a rigorous vetting process initially, followed by a monitoring process thereafter. So I knew my money was in good hands.
I know about the vetting and monitoring process firsthand now myself, because I am a new volunteer fundraiser for a One World grassroots Partner called NovatoSpirit, which helps impoverished children participate in sports in Novato, Marin County, California. (Full disclosure: I am also the founder and executive director of NovatoSpirit, so besides being a volunteer fundraiser, I am also a Partner of One World!) All of of us One World volunteers have to ensure the viability of the nonprofit or grassroots organization that we represent and raise money for continually. This verification process is important to me, NovatoSpirit, and all the other Partners that One World assists. I want myself, and all the donors I contact, to know that our money is actually going to serve the children we wish it to serve. Generously, One World does not charge fees for donations, so all the proceeds go directly to the grassroots organization and no portion goes to serve One World's administrative expenses. So every gift to One World goes wholly where it's supposed to go.
I feel honored to be associated with One World Children's Fund, as a donor, a volunteer fundraiser, and a Partner representing NovatoSpirit.
"The means to change lives and empower communities is fundamentally rooted in the people who live in those same communities in need." This vision makes One World Children's Fund outstanding and an excellent link! The Unique model used by One World to reach, support, guide, and provide resources to community-led organizations around the world is phenomenal. As Bitone Center, we continue to learn, grow, benefit, and enjoy One World's true and faithful partnership as we continue to save and empower the young people.
With One World - We Dream Big! We Think Big! and we Achieve Big!

One World Children's Fund truly helps tens of thousands of children at home and abroad by working with its grass roots partners and their champions to provide them with the basic necessities of life and a chance to lift themselves out of poverty. With a tiny but dedicated and hard working staff and hundreds of volunteers working out of a large, one room office in San Francisco's Presidio, One World weaves scores of partnerships into a global community of caring that enables those who know what they are doing do their work for impoverished children effectively. I volunteer for its Board. We would love your support.
What I love about OWCF is that they are fundamentally changing the way philanthropy is done for global organizations. Working with them for three years to support children with disabilities in Tanzania, I can attest to their integrity and service minded approaches that respect local leadership, cultures, and approaches. They walk the walk in supporting organizations to care for and create opportunities for children in their own communities. It's not about charity. It's about solidarity. It's about creating a world where every child sees his/her own value no matter where they were born. And knows that their dreams are indeed possible. That's the magic of collaboration that OWCF brings to the table.

One World is deeply committed to a more equitable model for global philanthropy. First they leverage local champions to raise funds for grassroots leaders around the world. Then they bring those leaders to the philanthropic table to advocate for their work and their communities. Global philanthropy, the way it should be!
One World Children's Fund is pushing the humanitarian sector beyond the rhetoric of community driven development. They are driven by the needs of grassroots organizations serving children and raise much needed and critical resources to help communities increase their impact and create opportunity in children's lives. This is the future of the humanitarian work in a global context - compassion, collaboration, and unity in vision and mission.

With a global depletion of natural resources and global warming in full effect, we are now in an era of the uncomfortable transition from our spoilt ways to renewable sources of energy which are geared toward saving the planet. I am only six years young into the world of non-profits but I have become a staunch advocate of the OWCF Champion Model and organizational infrastructure. This outstanding organization offers a robust platform for smaller, not for profit institutions. It removes the unneeded need to waste time, money, trees (paper), valuable man hours, energy and plenty of other precious resources by providing an umbrella of benefits to worthy causes around the world. The exercise of reinventing the wheel is removed when a project finds itself affiliated with OWCF. There is no need to have your own tax-exempt status if you are a part of OWCF and running a grassroots project in any other part of the world or even within USA. Time can be spent in doing things that matter, and the contributions of donors are spent in entirety toward the cause. The intellectual resources offered by OWCF are another priceless resource that Master Card simply cannot buy! In my experience, OWCF offers a green and sustainable solution to the challenge of making this world a better place for children.
I have been working in collaboration with OWCF for about 6 months now. They are a very focussed, organized and passionate group of people who have adopted projects all over the world. I think the relationship I have developed with OWCF will last at least a lifetime, and touch the lives of thousands of people and their families.

As a volunteer, I have become so invested and passionate for the tremendous work One World Children's Fund does for children around the world. As a result, I know I will personally always be connected to them because I truly believe in their mission and have seen the extraordinary results that changes children's lives. Although a small nonprofit in San Francisco, they are growing and expanding at an exciting rate. My hope is that more people become aware of this organization and life-saving work they already accomplishing in 17 different countries for children and their caregivers.
I have found OWCF to be an organization with tremendous heart. As someone with 10 years of experience working with grassroots organizations in sub-Saharan Africa, OWCF invited me to become a member of their Projects Committee. These committee meetings have demonstrated to me the Board and staff's commitment to children and the local, community-based organizations that serve them around the world. They also demonstrate tremendous admiration and support to those people in the U.S. who are called to help and they have a keen interest in providing them a community for learning and self-reflection.
