Hello My name is Norman,
I came into this program broken not only physically but emotionally. The Drugs and Alcohol took over my life causing me to lose the accountability and the responsibilities that i used to have.
The staff was so understanding and caring they made sure that I had what I needed. They gave me food when I walked through the door.
By me coming here and by following the guidelines and following instruction, I regained the responsibilities and the accountability that I needed.
I came in with nothing everything I had was lost during my active addiction, but now i have regained my bank account, drivers license and a vehicle and also re-established my credit.
I now have 10 years of sobriety all by coming to this program.
This program also provides a great support.
I still remain here with One Step At a Time Recovery giving back to individuals that sits in the seat I once sat. Giving back what was so freely given to me.
This program is what saved my life... literally.
Had it not been for One Step I would still be out there in active addiction and would most likely be dead.
I came in at the age of 50 and getting ready to turn 51.
Thank you One Step and all the staff for giving me the chance and opportunity and the structure.

I have sat and read the reviews here and some are so outlandishly ridiculous that it is disturbing.
I know from first hand experience of this program and how vital it is to the ones that is actually sincere and honest about wanting their recovery. I have seen this program work in many miraculous facets of individuals lives. I have seen families restored, I have seen respect and trust gained back to those that have lost these gifts from addiction.
For those that wish to speak harshly and badly of this program and its director, I have to say this. These individuals are those that are disgruntled because they are the ones that have failed in themselves and failed to follow simple guidelines or still in active addiction.
Where some other programs around in the US or in the greater Atlanta allow their clients to remain without any form or structure and does not provide sober environments.
This program does provide a sober environment and structure.
I am a past client of this program, and have succeeded in remaining sober for the past 8years. I have regained my dignity, respect. I got my license back and a car. Things that I lost while in my active addiction I a and have regained back.
It is a place that if you are truly honest and sincere to get sober and clean and remain sober and clean this is the place.
i was lost and sooo broken when I came to one step at a time recovery in 2017. The program brought me in w/ no money or clothes and helped me go to work also got clothes up for me. I began on my road to recovery w/ their help to get to meetings and to obtain a sponsor to help me begin the 12 steps of recovery. Also shared their experience, strength and hope w/ me also loved me until I could begin to love myself again. I then began to learn with the accountability and structure of the program to become a productive member of society. I am now the woman, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend that I have always wanted to be. I now make better choices in my life to maintain my sobriety. I work for one step at a time now and I am able to share my experience, strength and hope w/ our clients now. I also help to show the clients about accountability and structure in their lives so they may become productive members of society. How to live their lives w/o the use of alcohol and drugs. One step continues to help me everyday to grow in my recovery. I would recommend one step at a time as the loving and structured recovery program that it is for the nonprofit award.
Saturday February 24th 2018 I walk through the doors of one step at a time recovery. I was broken, confused, lost, ashamed, heartless, emotionless, cold, numb, no self-worth. I had no self-love, no structure, no kind of stability. Most of all on that day I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I need a new way to live, I needed to gain my life back. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. Most of all I needed to get my family back my children back. I'm walking through One Step at a Time's door I was able to do so. One step at a time taught me a new way to live and that I was worth living for.
Needing structure and stability one step at a time taught me how to gain that back. They help me relearn responsibilities that built my structure and stability. I had to learn by doing adult things again like finding a job, holding that job down, by showing up everyday on time. Annette and her crew showed me how to gain that back. One way I was showed and learned was I now had bills to pay like weekly rent. I had to eat and boy oh boy did i eat now that i was liveing a new life. Witch meant I need food. Which meant I needed to get a job. Maintain that job. So I can have the means to do the adult things like pay bills, pay rent and get my food or necessities. Annette and her people knows us recovery addicts chances are dont have jobs at the time of entering the program. So not only did they teach me again how to look and gain a job but until i could do just that Annette and her crew helps me with some kind of work so I can get the things I needed and do on my own. Even if that was working at Annette on her property. You know what that showed me.? That she cared. Just didn't kick me out because I couldn't pay my rent. She gave me the means to be able to do so. She let me come out to her private place of living and let this attic and her personal area to earn my way. That showed me there was a new way to live. That showed me that love and compassion that I had to be retaught. That showed me that I was still lovable even if I was broken and sick and tired of being sick and tired.
I graduated from her program with a certificate 6 months later in August 2018.
I went home after graduation with everything I was taught. It was time for my graduation and to go home at this time I gained everything I had lost. I was no longer sick and tired of being sick and tired. I gained myself back. I learned a new way of living. Most of all I gained my children and family back.
And I got my certificate tonight at my graduation and going home and walking through the doors with my family and children I learned there was hope for addicts. I learned to keep the face and a higher power other than myself. I want to take one day at a time. And I learn not only do we recover but we are worth recovery. I owe that to Annette and her crew at One Step at a Time Recovery.
I gave them my broken up life. They help me put myself back together. Not only would I refer Annette and her crew to other addicts but I would also trust them with their lives, as well I trusted them. And still trusting them so much I would in fact not only refer other addicts to them, but I did guide and bring my sister to Annette's program so they could help her save her life.
Today almost 2 years later Here i am killing, standing strong. WE DO RECOVER.
1st pic was my mug shot. Realizing I needed help.
1st picture is today.!
And the 4th is my mug shot. The 2nd and 3rd is myself today with my children. And if I could share one more picture it would be my husband and I.
All Can say is Thank you God and One Step at a Time Recovery.!

Love Gigi a Recovering Addict one day at a time.!
One step helped change my life. Gave me eye opener to a real sober future that I never believed existed. My goal when I came to one step was to learn how to live a Normal life drug free and happy. I accomplished that goal. I have my family back, a great job, amazing real friends. I love myself like I've never done before. One step taught me RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE! There is life without drugs. Thanks Annette and the one step family for making me feel worthy.
This place saved my life! They made me feel comfort and love! Annette isn't going to make it easy on you and that is because she has lived what we are living and she knows from experience that we as adults have to be held accountable for the poor decisions we make in our journey! For that I am grateful! I love you & appreciate you more than you will ever know Annette ❤
I have been here since April 30th 2019. I've had ups and downs here but one thing it has done for me is begun to change my life for the better. It's a structured program. Great people still here staff and clients alike. I've been able to see the difference in myself and so has my family. I don't know what I would've done if I hadnt come here.
One step has helped change my entire life around. If you are looking to get sober then One Step is a great place to choose. It is a great environment and the staff truly cares. I am so glad I found one step.
One Step took me in when I had nowhere else to go. They helped get me back on my feet and only encouraged me to grow and be better. The staff was kind and Annette has always been there for me when I needed her. If you need a good, safe environment with people who care about your sobriety I highly suggest One Step. I wouldn't be where I am without them.
I have the pleasure of seeing lives changed daily. One Step really cares about their residents and are very dedicated to helping individuals restore themselves, family and their relationship with the God of their understanding
I've been a client of onestep at a time for nearly 6 months . I'm set to complete the program in less then 30 days. Onestep is definitely a place that helps and genuinely cares to help the addict reach sobriety, and learn the tools to keep it when our journey at onestep is complete
I came to one step at a time in April 2012 lost , broken and in need of a new start. Thanks to this program I have got my life back. I’m free of drugs and living a happy life. I have been working in the recovery field ever since. Its my way of giving back to those in need. I would highly recommended this program to anyone that is looking for a sober living environment . The owner and staff are awesome. I have posted a picture of myself on drugs and after. I hope my post will Inspire others to get help.
I came into one step recovery as broken and desperate as an alcoholic and addict could be in 2016....I was showed a lot of love and care which I desperately needed and in return I showed a lot of willingness to start my recovery process. I had a grdaughter pass away in early 2017 after being born premature. I stayed till may 2017 then left the program to only go back to what I always knew to drowned out my sorrow and pain alcohol and drugs. I then returned to one step recovery sept 2017 which I then had even more willingness to never return to active addiction. I completed the program slowly but I actually completed w/ a certificate in 2018. the program helped me build a life to stay sober for...I am now the mother....nana...sister...aunt...friend I only dreamed of being till now. I am now on staff and try my best to give back to others what was givin to me guidance...structure and accountability so they may build a life to stay sober for also. sooo thankful to one step recovery for everything they have instilled in me to make a better life for myself...my family and friends....definitely would recommended the program to others looking to find a better way of life in recovery!!!!
This program is a blessing. Anyone that is serious about recovering a life worth living for this is the place for you. I have came to this program and completed it and in my time here have gained sobriety a sense of peace and a family. I recommend One Step as a first stop for anyone's sobriety!
This placed help get me sober and get my son back in my life. I'm forever grateful for One Step and for Annette!
I think this a great place because of the love in here and the support they give you if you really want it honestly the best place i been just by the vibe here and thats just how feel about it
One Step at Time Recovery was my saving grace. It taught me how to live life on life's terms. It taught me how to live in this world with other people and have love and tolerance for others. It was a safe place for me when I needed it the most. I was also an employee after graduating the program which gave me the chance to give back what was so freely given to me. As I have now moved on and back with my family, I still carry with me to this day the lessons & tools I learned there. The OSAT staff have a way of making everyone feel loved and worthy of a better life!! Great place!!!
I have witnessed countless people begin a new way of life at One Step At a Time. From the humble beginnings to the multitude of people it has served, One Step thrives. I have had the opportunity to serve with One Step’s community outreach that services the homeless population in Metro Atlanta. The reaches of One Step surpass just the recovery community, it touches places most will not. I am thrilled to see the progress of not only One Step At a Time, but all the success stories of the people it serves.
One Step is truly a blessing for people who want a chance to save and change there lives around....i did....one step has some awesome people who really care about your recovery....i would recommend one step to any one looking for solid recovery....Hats off to one steo
The opioid epidemic is at an all time high. I think it might be worse than the crack era. Adults, teenagers and children are getting addicted in new ways especially to opioids. And we need charities with recovery programs like “One Step at a Time, Recovery” to not only help them get clean and sober but also help them get acclimated back into their families and society and “One Step at a Time, Recovery” does that better than anyone else!

One Step At A Time Recovery is a GREAT nonprofit. It is a great program for people with drug and or alcohol addiction. The program welcomes a diverse set of customers. It is also one of the best programs with a high rate of success. And success is measured many ways but in the end it's success is defined by giving their clients a second chance at a better life for them, their family and their community. I have supported the nonprofit since it's inception through volunteering and donations I have seen the power of the program and I am a. IG supporter.
Words cannot express what is in my heart for this place. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do! You have given my husband a new outlook on life.

I have had the pleasure of seeing first hand what kind of work they do. Let me tell you its amazing! They gave me my Husband back better than when we said I do. I have also volunteered on one of their projects and am looking forward to doing more. The staff is amazing and I know they have their hands full with the residents, but they are always willing to offer help to anyone who needs it. I can not thank them enough for what they did and continue to do. They are all amazing!
In the same way a church is actually the "body of believers", One Step is indeed a community of people striving to change their lives and engage life in a more meaningful and productive manner. I would encourage anyone who struggles with addiction issues to give them a call. If, you are looking for a safe place in which to get serious about your life and become the individual you were meant to be, One Step could be that perfect fit for you. It was for me, and it can be for you. Don't wait, call them today! Ken Helmer
As a graduate of One Step and now a part time staff member I have been able to not only get my life together but guide others in getting their lives back it is truly an amazing program. If you are willing to put forth the work and are determined to get your life together this is a stable environment to do so.
One step at a time recovery has given me a place to totally change my life around. With great staff, who really gets to know you on a personal level, and making you feel right at home as family. Without this place I would not have been able to experience the happiness I have in my life today! Thank you one step family!
This place feels like home! As an addict I have been to some pretty low points in my life, at my lowest I had lost all hope of ever finding true happiness again. This program gave me back my life; it gave me back my spirit. The amount of care, understanding, and love received here is a big tribute to the healing process an addict needs in order to recover. There is structure, the staff keeps you accountable and reaching for your goals. If you are truly willing to work towards our recovery and better your life this family oriented program is a great place to start.
Hello. I want to share my experience with One Step at a Time with you. The staff at OSAT are so dedicated to helping people in their recovery process. They genuinely care about each individual who walks through their door. My recovery experience has not been a bolt of lightning, but rather a slow, sometimes painful process. However, I have been loved and encouraged in each phase of my growth process. The AA promises come true. My relationship with my Father in heaven, my amazing son, family and friends have been strengthened. I am truly a miracle of this program. Bring your willingness and honesty. God puts others in our lives to lead us to Him. Thank you One Step at a Time!
