Causes: Community Mental Health Centers, Mental Health
Mission: One life is a non-profit organization of skilled therapists who aim to inspire, educate, and provide accessible counseling and wellness programs throughout the community. Our doors are open to everyone regardless of race, age, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, physical or mental ability, religion, orability to pay. We believe there should be no barriers to mental health treatment
Programs: One life counseling services provided over 6000 sessions of low fee counseling services to the community this year. We do not say no to anyone who needs counseling services. Many families work two jobs and are under-insured. They simply cannot afford the co-pays to get adequate mental health treatment. We serve medical clients in our clinic as well. We have partnerships with second harvest food bank and pennisula food runners and have food available for our low fee clients as well. We want to serve the whole person.
we currently operate in 9 schools on the san francisco peninsula. We use both traditional counseling services where we pull out students for counseling and non-traditional counseling where we work in tandem with the teachers to provide resiliency building in the classroom. We have provided over 1000 service hours in our schools this year and it is making a profound impact for the teachers and students alike.
our music and memory program works with youth and seniors to create a intergeneration bond. The teens create customized ipods for seniors with dementia and enjoy the music with them on an ongoing basis. We have expanded our volunteer pool and our service locations to the elms, hopkins manor, and the atherton regency. We work with the ombudsman program in san mateo county to target skilled nursing facilities where the music would greatly impact the quality of life for the seniors.
