For me the ministry is a light in the middle of darkness, a hope for us to complete our desires and dreams. It is a great blessing and opportunity for us to change our lives.
John and Judi are two of the most devoted people I've ever met. Making a difference for the girls in Guatemala by getting them off the streets, and meeting their educational, spiritual, and physical needs!
I have been bringing short term mission teams to visit One Hope since 2010. I love seeing the spiritual and educational growth in these girls over the past 7 years, and seeing two of them now teaching school while going to university full time. The difference this ministry makes not only in the lives of the girls, but their families and their communities is immense! We will see the fruits of the seeds they are planting for generations to come.
We know when we contribute to One Hope Ministries NFP that our donation will be used to help young girls in Guatemala that would be otherwise have no access to education or anyway to rise above their families poverty existence. John and Judy have given up so much because of their love for the people of Guatemala. They are trustworthy, hardworking, sacrificial and are doing all that God has called them to do.
John and Judy care so much for the girls that they get to have - providing all their lodging, food, education and church experiences. They do so much for the girls and ask for nothing back - truly admirable! The photo is one of their success stories - Kelly is now a teacher with her own income!
I have had the privilege to serve in Guatemala in a church with a vision for both an evangelical and a broad scale humanitarian support. This has brought me in contact with many individuals of like minds and focus.
The One Hope ministry team of John and Judy Prim are two of the shining stars in the pantheon of Godly servants I have ever had the joy of meeting. Seeing them return to Guatemala to make things happen and follow through with bringing support to their girls and their families, even in spite of strong challenge, has never failed to bring a smile to my face.
I can see impact of their work in the lives of their girls who now can literally see a path to a better life not in material things but more so for the hope and futures they see as possibilities for what could be. Having spoken with them these girls desire to be in a position to help others when they come of age and it is their time to do so. I know from experience in Guatemala that this way of thinking doesn't just happen without it being modeled.
One Hope Ministries under John and Judy's leadership has set the foundation for these girls to find success in whatever path they seek as God leads.
We have visited with the One Hope girls for several years now on our annual mission trip and each year we are more impressed with them as we have watched them grow into mature, responsible and strong Christian women. In a society that sees women only as field workers and mothers, One Hope offers the girls a chance to become productive and valued members of the community as well as to know their value in Christ's eyes
i have been blessed to be part of mission teams to Antigua for the past 7 years and have helped in several ministries. One Hope has always been one of our favorites. John & Judy are truly dedicated to these young girls giving them opportunities for a future that they would not have otherwise. It differs from other organizations in that they do not seek merely to educate the girls, they also provide spiritual nourishment and basic life skills. They maintain family relations, too. They have endured many dangers and hardships, yet they rely totally on God to bless the ministry and get them through. There is always such joy in their home.
I would highly recommend One Hope as an outstanding nonprofit and encourage anyone to support them.
I am very happy because God has given me this opportunity to study with this scholarship. The things that I learned in the ministry can help me to have a better future or help me in my life in the future. This ministry is good because it has given us an education and has helped us a lot because I have seen many changes in me. I change my relationship with God, I read the Bible every night, organized, responsible, do my chores well, do things as God wants and not as we want. Here I feel comfortable and do everything possible to get ahead in my studies and I can also learn many more things.
During the two years that I have been in the ministry I changed a lot because many people have told me. I learned to love and respect to my enemies, get closer to God, do things well, be very honest, have a dream for my future, put attention in my education and also respect to others. I am in the ministry because I am getting my education and fulfilling my dreams for a better future.
During the time I have been in the ministry I have learned to be more orderly, responsible and sincere and to read every day in the Bible. I think that I put into practice honesty and kindness now. I want to get closer to God and always trust. I am in the ministry because I want to have a good education and be able to graduate.
During the time I have been in the ministry I have changed my way of acting because here I have been taught many values and I have changed my attitude, not to be so angry or serious and how to live with other people. I learned to be a more responsible girl, organize my life, trust in God, to do things well, to respect people, have good etiquette and take care of the things that God provides for us.
My first direct experience with OHM was in 2006. I joined them to minister to a small village many miles from any civilization in a jungle in Guatemala. OHM had been working with the people there for many years. Meeting physical needs but more importantly the spiritual well being of the people there, changing lives forever.
The ministry has grown to include a home for young girls. A place where the most vulnerable in that society can learn life skills. Their labor of love has been the catalyst that has changed many lives.
An investment in this ministry will bring a huge return, not only for them, because the blessing received by them is an awesome blessing to the investor.
"It is better to give..." not just words written but words that change both the giver and receiver. If you are looking for a NFP to bless, look no further!
What an enlightening visit! I had no idea that young girls were often encouraged or made to leave school to help at home once they have the most elementary learning.it is something the girls on our team, all college bound, never imagined so it was great for them to see first-hand what their Guatemalan contemporaries will do to have what they consider an entitlement. This ministry is the harbinger of change, one young life at a time!
One Hope Ministries reaches at-risk girls in Guatemala. It is wonderful to be part of this ministries and see how Judy and John give girls a home, education, health care and most of all hope. They teach these girls how to break the pattern of poverty and help them to see that God loves them and cares for them.
John and July Prim left their home, their friends and their adult children and 2 grandchildren to go to Guatemala and start a girls home that is so desperately needed in that country, what they have accomplished is amazing, girls are educated they learn how to take care of themselves they find jobs and they learn how to take care of finances. This is a real plus for the women that come out of this ministry because so many of them live in poverty. Our prayer would be that they can just continue to keep helping more women and that the ministry might be able to grow.
The girls in One Hope Ministries experience God’s love first hand. John and Judy are great examples of this by sacrificing and giving their all to change the lives of these girls. They are receiving academic, spiritual and practical education that provides a better path. It has been a blessing to see them blossom and be more outgoing with confidence. It is pure joy to have them be a part of the church.
We have watched the girls that participate in this ministry grow into Godly responsible members of society. They don't just receive, but they serve too. John and Judy have taught them that.
The time, love, sacrifice and dedication poured in to the ministry of One Hope is clearly making a difference! I have been acquainted with One Hope since it's beginning and am now honored to be more directly involved as a board member. Throughout this time I have seen first hand the girls lives radically changed. Coming from situations of despair and hopelessness, they now have experiences and opportunities that will push them to fulfill their greatest potential.
We are fellow missionaries here in Guatemala and have been involved with this ministry. We have seen first hand the benefit in the lives of the girls in their care. The opportunities given these girls is an immense step up in this country. We highly praise this ministry for their service.
Seeing firsthand how the girls that participate in One Hope Ministries have changed for the better is overwhelming. I have seen the girls go from introverted, shy and insecure to vibrant, confident young woman. This, I believe, has been a direct result of the unrelenting love and support of the ministry. These girls have surpassed any typical expectation of their community and will be able to become a positive, productive member of society. This is absolutely the best ministry to be a part of to see lasting, positive change.
On any given day Susan and I will receive six to eight requests for funds. Some from good causes, some from not so good causes. To very few of these will we respond. With One Hope Ministries we have no such reservations. We have seen the work that they do, and we have spent enough time in Guatemala to know the need for what they are doing. The education of young women is a key component of future prosperity and hope for countries like Guatemala. Larry & Susan Scott
I have been blessed to be a part of this wonderful mission to educate the young girls of Guatemala, to give them a hope and a future, and a path out of poverty. John & Judy's dedication to the girls training, education, health and welfare, their families and their futures amazes me. The hardships, challenges, sacrifices, and even danger they have faced makes them my heroes. They are far from their family and since the start have missed the births of their grandchildren.
The fact that some of our young women who came through the residential program are now teachers is a sign of great success and a source of pride and connection for me and those dedicated to One Hope.
We may never know the actual extent of those impacted through this mission, but I am convinced that lives have not only been changed, but many saved as well.
Being a part of providing an education for girls in Guatemala that would never otherwise get that opportunity is rewarding. I find it fascinating that many of these girls arrive at the home that John and Judy have provided not knowing how to take a shower, flush a toilet, eat at a table or brush their teeth. As their lives are transformed, all those who are a part of their lives are affected, which benefits the community in which they live.
Education for girls who would not otherwise have any hope out of the cycle of poverty. In the United States, we take education for granted. Research has shown that when a girl from an impoverished family is provided an education, her family and her community are also positively impacted. One Hope's vision is to expand and build a school to provide an education and hope for even more girls and their families. I support One Hope financially, have helped with the annual banquet and recently become a board member. How can one not get excited when you are involved with a ministry that is life changing?
John and Judy Prim responded to God's call to minister to the young girls in Guatemala to help them get an education and learn about Jesus and God's love so that future generations can be counted for His glory. John and Judy had homeschooled their own children and were well prepared to mentor other children's education. It was difficult for them to leave their own grown children in the states and work at One Hope Ministries, but they selflessly sacrificed that desire for their stronger desire to serve the Lord. Judy has great teaching and organizational skills and John is an excellent carpenter and handy-man. Together they make a great team. They love their work with the girls and strongly desire to impact more lives for Jesus.
For me the ministry is a big part of my life. It is a gift that God has given me and it is where I learned to be closer to God as I am growing more in my spiritual life.
This ministry is my home where I learn new things every day. It makes me a better person because I see my errors and that brings me closer to God. I have learned to value myself and respect others. It is making my dreams come true.
The ministry has helped me to come to know Christ and a further step to have a good relationship with God. I have also learned to forgive others. It is a great happiness to me to be able to achieve my dreams and become better each day.
This ministry is a gift from God to change my life, my family and my nation. The ministry is like a second family to me. Thanks to God for allowing me to be a part of the ministry. Because of the ministry I see the great love God has for me and my life.
This organization works hard to spread God's love to the girls and it does impact their families as well.
I have been involved in this ministry for about one year and have witnessed changed lives. I have been in these girls homes and villages and witnessed other girls in Guatemala from similar circumstances become stuck in a cycle of poverty and hopelessness. The girls in One Hope Ministries experience God's love practiced before them everyday. They are receiving academic, spiritual and practical education that gives them a path to a better future. John and Judy Prim are examples of sacrificially giving all of themselves to change these girls lives.
I have been involved in other ministries but One Hope actually lives their mission and offers hope to the girls and their families. These girls know they are loved and they watch John and Judy fight for opportunities for their girls. It is a pleasure to be associated with this ministry.
This is my third time as a volunteer worker at One Hope center. I have stayed from two weeks to one month each time. The home is such an amazing place that offers young women a chance at life like nothing else I have ever seen, especially here in Guatemala. The girls not only get a good education and learn invaluable life skills (many of which we take for granted), but they are also supported in developing their relationship with God. They learn how to study the bible and depend on God alone- something that will far outweigh any material things the home can ever provide. I cannot say enough about the sacrificial work that the directors, John and Judy, are doing. They have literally laid down everything they have for these young women and work tirelessly to run a ministry full of integrity and love. I highly recommend getting involved in this ministry in any way you can- through your time, finances, and/or prayers. Whatever you can give, it will go to fill a great need. And if you are considering coming down as a volunteer, John and Judy are very accommodating, easy to work with, and thankful for the all of the work that their volunteers do for them.
Few missions have servant leaders like John and Judy Prim who sacrificially give their all from their hearts, lives and own pockets to see the fruits of God's work in the minds, lives and families of these young girls. God has also blessed the ministry with Naomi, a national who is a dedicated teacher and administrator. Plus, three teachers who were among our first young residents back in 2009. God willing, they be among the first teachers in the plans for the future school!
I was first a donor to One Hope Ministries back in 2008, as they were planning to leave for Guatemala with the vision of providing education, skills and safety for the young girls there. I am blessed to continue to be a part of it as worker, donor and board member. It has truly exceeded expectations for the difference it is making in the literacy and futures of these young girls. OHM is making a difference in their families and villages, shining a light of hope and virtue into some very dark places.
SO MUCH MORE CAN BE DONE!! Please get to know, love and support One Hope Ministries as they bring God's Light and literacy to young girls who's futures would otherwise be fraught with danger, unplanned pregnancies or worse.
This ministry is so essential for Guatemala!!! This ministry gives such hope and love to young girls. Without this ministry the selected girls may never get to further experience school and be taught about God's love for them and their families!! This further education gives the girls a bright new future to fight the odds against them in such a poverty stricken country. The ministry founders have such compassion and love for these girls!! The One Hope founder's are extremely dedicated to their ministry. They bring hope to these girls! So please choose One Hope Ministry. For some girl's its their only hope for a better future.
If you want to plan for a year, plant rice. If you want to plan for a decade, plant a tree. If you want to plan for a lifetime, educate a mind!
One Hope plans for the future of our world by enabling the less fortunate to have an education to positively impact their future generations and their global "village".
So excited as I watch Gods miracles unfold for this Mission. Great people, doing Gods work. This school will inpact so many girls lives and empower them to change their lives forever.
