OGT- Great Work
One Good Turn rocks! I had the privilege of volunteering with OGT on their recent trip to Kenya and this organization (and everyone behind it—Dr. Messer, Lilian, and everyone behind the scenes) is one of a kind. Everywhere we went Dr. Messer effortlessly cultivated an environment of mutual respect, laying the foundation for shared learning and open discussion. With partnership at the core of the trip, I witnessed OGT and local teams seamlessly unite to work towards a common goal. It was incredible to see Dr. Messer provide relevant and current medical information in an understandable, sensitive manner, and local healthcare workers utilizing that information to not only care for those around them but to also educate their peers, and us on how this information is best applied to their communities. OGT’s impactful work of empowerment though education and partnership, truly equips local providers, medically trained or not, with the knowledge they need to care for their own communities, sustainably and over time. I can’t wait to see all the work OGT continues to do!
One Good Turn is our Health and Outreach Education partner at two of our properties in the greater Austin area. The work they do leaves me amazed. They did an education event at our properties where they went over common medications and their uses and then held a Q&A. It was so beneficial and everyone in attendance learned so much. I don't know in any other situation where you can sit with a doctor and have the time to ask any question on your mind. I am so thankful for the work One Good Turn does in our community and throughout the world. It's organizations like this that give me hope in a brighter future.
I was able to volunteer my time when One Good Turn was writing their Coronavirus Handbook. As an educator, I was pleased with their goal to continue to provide quality education to those in need.
As a retired Family Physician I was looking for a way to utilize my medical expertise to help the medically underserved when I saw an article about One Good Turn in our local newspaper. Once I met with Dr. Messer and learned of her goals and all that she had done to set up training for basic health care in a number of towns and villages all over the world, I knew this was the place for me. I have been given the opportunity to help create educational materials tailored to the needs of the places served. Also, Dr. Messer had the foresight of a need for handbooks in English and Spanish on Corona Care early on in the pandemic, so we worked with our volunteers to create these. Truly a rewarding experience for all involved!
Dr. Messer is absolutely amazing!! I spent 2 weeks as a volunteer on one of the service trips to Cambodia and got to see first hand the heart and soul of One Good Turn. Not only does this organization provide incredible, culturally sensitive patient care and education, but they truly partner with each community they serve and build lasting impactful relationships so that the work we did short term made long term impacts. I was amazed at how the entire team came together and worked so hard to make a difference in the health and wellbeing of underprivileged communities through education. One Good Turn has a unique philosophy that focuses on lasting and impactful changes through education while providing care alongside local healthcare workers where we got to learn from each other. Dr. Messer has a servants heart and all the people we interacted with were so grateful for her work! I would love the opportunity to serve again with One Good Turn!
The One Good Turn team clearly deeply cares about its mission and acts in line with its values, always. It is inspiring to see how the One Good Turn team works together to learn how they they can best make an impact. I feel so lucky to be able to work with One Good Turn and learn from the amazing team members!
Toward the end of my two years working in healthcare settings in Cambodia I had the incredible opportunity to work with One Good Turn on a rural clinic project in Northern Cambodia. Dr. Messer is extremely knowledgeable about delivering setting-appropriate medical education that is sensitive to the unique needs of each community she serves.
One Good Turn takes great care in providing medical education to underserved communities around the world. They ensure information is practical, relevant to each community, and rooted in sustainability. Every member of the One Good Turn team is dedicated to their mission, and it is truly inspiring to work with the organization.
I volunteered with One Good Turn for a COVID vaccine clinic. It was an amazing experience to be a part of as I watched the team guide their wonderful interns around the process of just making patients feel comfortable. Even I, who just joined the team for a day, felt like part of the One Good Turn family at the end of the day. This organization clearly prides itself in taking care of others and those who work alongside them.
One Good Turn dedicates itself to strengthening global health systems by providing health education to community health workers abroad. I have had the privilege of working with One Good Turn over the past year and contributing to the Coronavirus Handbook and health protocols. Dr. Messer exemplifies compassion and cultural humility, always establishing that OGT services are wanted in our partner communities and collaborating with the people to understand and meet their needs. It’s incredible to see how much care is given to ensure our educational materials are relevant and will have a meaningful impact on the community. I am thankful to be a part of such an amazing team!
I had the wonderful opportunity of traveling with and learning from OGT. An amazing nonprofit with a sustainable mission- making their mark and the world a healthier place because of it. OneGoodTurn is the best of the best!
It's inspiring to watch the One Good Turn team at work! They put so much heart and effort into bringing health care to underserved communities around the world, and saving lives that would have otherwise been lost.
OGT is an amazing organization that is truly making a difference. Seeing how this team respects and empowers the local communities they work with worldwide is inspiring. I’m proud to be a supporter of such a thoughtful and considerate nonprofit.
One Great Turn is such an incredible organization that is truly making a positive impact on the world. They have so much compassion for life and helping others. It has been so great to interact with and follow this organization as it continues to grow.
There's such a need for organizations like this one and One Good Turn is a great example of how one dedicated team can make a huge difference. I've been following their work for over a year now and it's been such a source of hope for me and my family! Keep bringing aid to those who need it the most!
Dr. Messer and the rest of the OGT team are incredible humanitarians championing a worthy cause. Their efforts are not only compassionate but empowering. Their work is respectful to local communities and cultures while delivering care to high need populations.
One Good Turn provides health care to those "end of the road" communities where care is scarce. They do this in a thoughtful, culturally appropriate manner, first performing a needs assessment, and then following through with program tailored to the specific community. They also provide both healthcare training to local people and medical supplies. Both Ann and Annie are consummate professionals, who are passionate about the service they provide.
One Good Turn is an inspiring organization taking on challenging issues in developing countries. Beyond providing hands-on medical treatment, educating the health workers in the communities One Good Turn visits is vitally important for providing the proper treatment for their patients, and leaves a lasting effect that helps to improve the care and quality of life for the communities they serve. Dr. Messer and her team are inspiring humanitarians who work hard to be very respectful of the local cultures and adapt their practices and educational training to the regional medical issues the health workers are likely to encounter. Keep up the great work!
One Good Turn fills a role that many global health organizations do not. Their work focuses on education in addition to care. Instead of one-off clinics, they work with local health providers, teaching them how to care for their own communities. I have followed Dr. Messer and her team for a long time. Her work is inspiring and amazing to watch
