In 1988 I entered Gateway Rehab in Centre County, (the Big House, known to various groups). At Gateway, the Onala Club presented a "dog and pony show" of their experience with alcoholic and of the social and primary goals of the Club. They had people there who took the time to talk about alcohol and its ramifications in our lives. I attended meetings there and got to know the "oldtimers". It became my home group and I would go every time I could get a ride. I would call them up and someone would come to pick me up in the South Side where I lived. It was a big part of my recovery. I've been sober ever since because of the foundation those "oldtimers" gave me. After 25 years of sobriety, it is once again my home group and I'm the "oldtimer". I never have forgotten my roots and it was because the Onala Club was present in my life that I've attained these 25 years. God blessed me when I walked through the doors of the Onala Club and I've learned a lot. Thank you Onala Club!
