On River Time

On River Time helps young teens to work through their problems and see a better future for themselves.

I am familiar with this non profit organization because I know the founder who is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He has a heart for Christ and a heart for children.

On River Time is a fantastic organization that works hard to change the trajectory of the lives of children. Neglect and abuse are very serious issues and something that most people are uncomfortable talking about. ORT works to help set kids free from their past and have hope in their future. I am so impressed with this nonprofit. They go above and beyond, always putting the needs of others first. This touching ministry is an inspiration to all. I can not speak highly enough about the work that On River Time does for our community.

Fantastic mission; awesome execution; terrific end results. I have witnessed the success of On River Time for many years and seen firsthand the impact of their work.

This is an outstanding nonprofit meeting a critical need. More than ever children who have faced abused and neglect need to be supported and cared for. On River Time does just that through their Success, Opportunity, Attitude and Resilience (SOAR) Program. Their Life Skills curriculum for students who have aged out of their children’s homes and are now in college keeps them engaged with life-long mentors ready to develop their potential. SOAR focuses on those ‘soft skills’ that give an individual a leading edge, including communication, work ethic, and etiquette. Students also learn job interview skills and resume writing and even participate in mock interviews. On River Time is providing so many important tools to engage these young adults and put them on a path to both healing and success. This is an organization our family will always support.

Steve, Wendy, and team are wildly faithful servants to children who deserve these amazing experiences. They are surrounded by the love that only faithful servants could provide. We are so thankful for them, and we will continue to support them - always.

On River Time is so much more than fishing! Steve Davis' sharing his personal experience of release and restoration with kids provides a world-class outdoor adventure sprinkled with lessons over overcoming fear, embracing new experiences, sharing vulnerabilities and a self-realization that "I am not alone". But the relationship does not end with the trip, Wendy and Steve continue to pour into each child through personal letters, visits, Christmas presents, scholarships and now the SOAR program.

On River Time is a part of the Palmer Home experience and Steve, Wendy and Beth are a part of the family! Likewise, the other children's homes that partner with ORT are now trusted collaborators in our mission to provide a loving home for children in need.

I have become progressively more involved with On River Time over the past five years or so. I met Steve Davis at a fund raiser in Los Angeles and was immediately taken by him and the organization's mission. I immediately became a donor and am now on the board of directors.

This is an organization that is dedicated to helping children who have been victimized by the people who should have protected them. It is a very lean organization and the huge portion of any donations go directly to programs that help kids.

The most important aspect of On River Time is that it's not just a feel good and forget operation. They work very hard to give kids the skills to let go of past abuse, do well in school, get a good job and break the cycle of violence and abuse. They provide the kids with a support network.

None of us can solve all the problems in the world or address all of the evils. But by supporting On River Time, you can be confident that you will change some people's lives for the better. As the old saying goes, "it's better to light one candle than to curse the darkness"

This organization is deeply committed to creating a unique experience that assists children who have experienced vulnerability in their lives by way of neglect, abandonment or abuse. The powerful combination of an unmatched outdoor experience (fly fishing on the Snake River!!) is combined with personal experiences and connections that send a message: YOU MATTER TO US..... exactly what children from difficult backgrounds need to hear! The underlying spiritual drive to share God's love through service is in full motion with ORT... and I am pleased to recognize and celebrate their good work!
