This group has been operating since 2001 and has a great bunch of volunteers who do lots of different things. One of my favorites is the Peace and Justice Heroes Banquet every summer. A committee that I work on writes and calls all over the state of Arkansas looking for people who don't know they're working for peace, but they are. We hold a beautiful banquet and present them an olympic-style medallion. People are working hard to do homeless shelters, food banks, women's shelters, help teens, create peace curriculum, help whistle blowers, and lots of great work; but they think they're just doing what they have to do. They're blown away when somebody recognizes them for creating a culture of peace. I'm always amazed about what people around here are willing to do when they see it has a good impact this struggling society. Humans are just awesome when they have the chance.
