Programs: Omaha church center (occ) is the property owner and property management related organization of lutheran family services of nebraska, inc. (lfs). By leasing properties to lfs and/or other church-related or not-for-profit groups, occ provides an efficient and cost-effective facilities management tool for these organizations. Occ owns and leases four buildings to lfs. They are located in north platte, nebraska; fremont, nebraska; and two in omaha at 24th and dodge, where lfs' corporate headquarters are located. Lfs is a statewide not-for-profit human care organization impacting over 43,000 people annually. For 123 years, the organization has moved forward in mission "to provide quality human care services that build and strengthen individual, family and community life. " the organization carries out this mission through three broad areas of core competency. Behavioral health includes outpatient mental health and substance use disorder; prevention/education services; emergency and community crisis support services; trauma treatment and therapeutic support for active military, veterans and their loved ones; specialized therapy or education groups for children, teens and their families; anger management therapies and counseling for individuals, couples and families. Through children services' programs, lfs provides infant and foster child adoption services, including post-adoption support; foster care case management including wendy's wonderful kids, a program of the dave thomas foundation for adoption that aggressively seeks permanency for youth in foster care; rsafe therapy for children and families impacted by sexual abuse, and children with problematic sexual behaviors; pregnancy counseling; kidsquad parent and child care provider support services; family support liaisons in partnership with the learning community of douglas and sarpy counties, working with children and at-risk families to reduce truancy and other barriers to learning and achievement; and early childhood mental health treatment and consultation services, as well as services for teens. Children services operates three "centers for healthy families," located in north omaha, fremont and council bluffs, iowa, which include many of the services already mentioned, plus an incentive-based prevention and early intervention program. This program encourages expectant mothers and families with children under age five to participate in healthy behaviors, lowering the risk of child abuse and neglect. Through community services, lfs offers comprehensive services for new populations, including immigrants, refugees, secondary migrants, asylees and victims of international human trafficking. Community services includes the largest americorps program in the state, nebraska economic opportunaity corps, plus nebraska veteran leaders corps, veteran student support corps and vista (volunteers in service to america).
