Mission: Our clinic provides a consistent medical home for people who have limited or no means of accessing healthcare services due to a lack of insurance. They are treated with dignity and respect, and they have the opportunity to take the time they need to explain all of their acute and chronic health issues to clinical providers. Lackey turns no one away for a lack of fiancial means to pay for their care. Lackey is a place of healing and hope. So many of lackey's patients arrive feeling overwhelmed with their life circumstances; they do not have a designated family physician overseeing their health, and they end up going from one urgent care center or emergency room to another.
Programs: The clinic is a 10,000 sq. Ft. Modern facility with 10 medical exam rooms and five dental operatories, 39 full and part-time staff, and more than 1,600 patients. We not only improve the health of our patients, but also the health of our community. We strive to lead by example - we are a community trying to take care of our own residents by providing healthcare for the uninsured, we are helping to reduce: medical emergencies, emergency room visits, acute hopitalizations, and taxpayer burdens. We are a medical home that provides a continuity of care and patient education which keeps patients healthier and helps them learn to utilize emergent care in a more appropriate way. To qualify for care, a person must be a resident of williamsburg, james city county, york county, (continued on schedule o) poquoson, and northern newport news, virginia communities. Their income must be at or below 200% of the current federal poverty level (23,540 for a single individual and 48,500 for a family of four), and they must be unable to obtain health insurance through either public (federal healthcare exchange, medicaid medicare or military) or private means. Lackey provides 12,500 patient visits a year. It serves as a medical and dental home for over 1,600 patients with more than 500 new patients annually.
