OCTN picks and chooses who they will serve! In spite of their website stating that "Home Delivered meals are offered for a SUGGESTED donation for persons age 60 and over who are home-bound in all areas where meals are served at the local senior center. ", many clients are receiving bills for $120 and over!
The website goes on to state "The SUGGESTED donation for senior meals be $4.00. Attendees at congregate sites under age 60 pay a $10 fee at the time of service." yet, these clients receiving bills are over the age of 60! This is ridiculous and unfair practice!! It's almost as if they are padding their own pockets! it's completely unreasonable to charge someone who is over the age of 60 $10 per meal, and another senior over the age of 60 $4 per meal.
OCTN needs to reevaluate its services and the impact that this ridiculous practice is having on seniors who are barely able to get around, let alone prepare a healthy meal for themselves.
With the recent events of Covid, many seniors are finding themselves not only homebound but also isolated due to the restrictions on meeting at Senior Centers. OCTN is isolating these seniors even more than ever before by charging such ridiculous prices for "only certain seniors".
OCTN, and its employees who are allowing this horrible practice, should be ashamed of themselves!
On the OCTN website, it clearly states that "if a client is unable to pay they should still receive meals". This unfair and unreasonable practice not only affects the seniors in a community, but it also reflects on each individual senior center and thanks to OCTN, some of these senior centers are looking pretty bad!
Why are some clients over the age of 60 being charged $10 and not the suggested $4?
Why are only some of the clients receiving bills? Why not all clients receive bills or no clients receive bills?
There is a serious lack of consistency with OCTN and they continue to pick and choose seniors to pick on and abuse in this fashion. What shameful behavior for an entity that is supposed to ensure that all seniors are fed and given the same opportunity regardless of economic status.
