“If you’re not working to make the world a better place, what’s the point?” My mother spoke those words to me when I was 10 years old. I had asked her what the point of life was. In the years since then, as I chose my college major, volunteered, donated time, energy, and expertise, these words only rang truer.
I give back because I know what it’s like to be on your own, to be fearful, and to wonder if anyone out there is rooting for you. Giving is about empowering others to make a place for themselves in this world. Giving is a demonstration of the best part of the human condition, altruism.
I give back because making the world a better place is what motivates me. I give to OhioGuidestone because they operate on the principle that if you give people the right tools, they will surprise you with the positivity they bring into our world.
Someone once asked me if I really thought I could make a difference, my only response was “maybe, maybe not, but at the end of my life, I want to look back and be able to say that I never stopped trying.”
Review from #MyGivingStory
I have been supporting this organization for over 10 years now. I keep coming back for several reasons. First, they have multiple success stories and ways they really turn lives around, of some kids who have been through too much bad stuff previously. second, they have low admin fees- none of this, pocketing money to give the execs more money! i get thank you letters, I am updated on how my gift makes a difference, and I like their Facebook page.
constructive feedback- I don't really have any; maybe more videos on the website. They have a nice video, but it's just one. I'd like to see more.
