Causes: Job Training
Mission: The purposes of this organization is to promote and enhance the delivery of worforce services for ohio's jobseekers and businesses and to increase the knowledge and efficiency of workforce investment organizations.
Programs: - ohio workforce association (owa) held its first workforce issue meeting and luncheon inviting all 20 of ohio's local workforce development board chairs, along with state employees from the office of workforce development/ohio department of job and family services (owd), as well as ryan burgess from the governor's office of workforce transformation on september 19, 2017 at the boathouse restaurant in columbus. Approximately 40 people attended. - owa partnered with owd and department of labor-funded consultants maher and maher to hold a two-day workforce leadership forum at mohican lodge and conference center april 11th and 12th, 2018. There were 58 in attendance to discuss wioa implementation statewide and lay out a plan to build on successes and address concerns moving forward. - owa partnered with three entities in northeast ohio to sponsor workshops offered by social policy research associates (spr) during the governor's in-demand jobs week, may 7th - 11th, 2018. - owa continued its education and advocacy efforts with the ohio department of job and family services (odjfs) as the state entered into its second full year with the comprehensive case management and employment program (ccmep) which is a program serving youth ages 16-24 years old who are low- income and barriered, and are wioa and/or temporary assistance for needy families (tanf) eligible. - owa continued its work in partnership with odjfs in the state's implementation of the workforce innovation and opportunity act (wioa) to all 20 local workforce areas across ohio. - owa coordinated an established meeting with the office of workforce development (odjfs) for all 20 workforce board directors across ohio monthly (19 directors as owa members), immediately following the regular owa meeting normally scheduled on the third wednesday of each month. There are usually about 40 attendees at these meetings, including owa members and odjfs representatives.
