I have MANY stories about how this rescue has touched my family and I .
One of the many stories I have is we had an amazing oittbull named Poh we loved and cherished her very very much . We were advised not to spay her from our vet until right around a year old but around 10 months she started getting very weird with our other dogs . She attacked our oldest dog and seriously and critically injuring her almost resulting in her death . Kara was a close friend of mine and WITH OUT HESITATION took Poh from me before I made any rash decisions . All I could think of is of this dog went to someone else and injured or killed another dog I couldn’t have that on my conscience . Kara took Poh and with her resources and educational people backing her not only found Poh a new wonderful home where she is THRIVING they have us peace of mind during a very hard time for our family . We miss Poh dearly but I didn’t do as much research as I wish I had with her breed . We love oh my dog . A photo of our Jersey girl after Poh !

We adopted AND we foster. This rescue is amazing! We got to go thought the adoption process and see behind the scenes as fosters, we don't do the transport side or even the all the paperwork but adopting is super easy, all the pups up for foster are medically checked out and taken care of. The fosters love all the pups coming in and out in a lot of work! I don't know how many pups have been saved but I do know it's a lot, from bad breeding situation to strays that we're going to be out down for no reason other than not having a home. The prices are great for everything that you're getting, clean vet bill, microchipped, feeding, grooming, transport, the pup being in a family setting and actually knowing the personality of the pups, everything. Plus if you're thinking about fostering and dipping you're toes in the water Oh My Dog will have you're back 100%!
I have been a volunteer dog foster mom for over a year now with 13 fosters from this rescue. It has been a top notch experience with astounding support. There is always help available for questions, care needs and transfer assistance of a dog that may not fit in well with the crew you have. My favorite part of OMD rescue is the pawdcast! Holly & Kara tell the deep down dirty fun stories as well as educational pieces that really make what we do feel more incredible!
By far the best rescue in Iowa. From the founders to the fosters, any dog that comes into OMD immediately becomes family. I have volunteered with this barkworthy "mafia" and will continue to do so for years to come!

I’ve been a part of this rescue for about 6 months. They are so very dedicated in rescue and the safety of these dogs, it melts your heart. They drop everything when in need. They are very supportive when asked. The dogs are literally their lives and it shows. They have huge hearts and compassion. I’m honored to be lucky enough to be a foster when needed, with this group of ladies!
Oh My Dog Rescue and their volunteers make my days a little bit brighter! From their fun posts about their rescue dogs to the Friday Pawdcast they put out that always has me crying with laughter! They have taken lemons and made lemonade and given hope back to some of these dogs that just needed to know what it was! I love how they say we are just helping them learn how to “dog” and at the end of the day “we’ll figure it out”
I love this rescue! They are very talented at what they do! I foster for them and love working with the co-founders. Everyone involved wants the best for the pups!
Holly and Kara have started an amazing rescue here in Central Iowa. In just over a year and a half, they are already making a HUGE difference not only in Iowa but in the animal rescue community at large.
Fantastic non-profit to work with! Every dog is showered with love and affection! All of the volunteers share the same goal and would do just about anything asked of them!
Absolutely wonderful to adopt from, they make the process easy and stress free and they provide exceptional care for the dogs that are within their rescue. As an adopter and a foster for this rescue, it has hands down been the best experience I've ever had adopting and fostering as well. They treat their foster homes with care and truly value the people that do volunteer work with them.
This is an awesome organization! I was there when they brought in the #knoxville13 dogs. They were so organized getting all of the dogs shampooed, groomed and gave the pups prevention medication at Clipper doodle do salon. A well oiled machine!
We have fostered 16 dogs to date with one foster fail! The founders of OMD are absolutely amazing and make both the adoption process and fostering fun and simple. Their communication is on point!

We love how they trust us to know what the fosters need in their furever home and allow us to select the adoptive family that best fits the dog!
So many rescues require a fence, or a house vs a condo or apartment to even just apply for adoption or fostering but these gals just want what’s best for the individual dog!

I am a foster and transport volunteer for OH My Dog Rescue. I have been a foster for about 9 years off and on for many other organizations. I love working with OH My Dog because their communication, when situations arise, is quick and efficient. Their process for vetting, processing applications and getting dogs adopted is the most efficient process I have ever experienced. The fosters with me are only with me for a couple of weeks before they are adopted and moved to their forever homes. No more foster fails for me, because the dogs don't stay long enough for me to get attached. Lol. Huge kudos for the organization's ability to keep things moving along in such an organized manner.
Oh my dog rescue is a wonderful rescue to volunteer for! They make it SO easy to get signed up for fostering, and help save lives right away. My family has been fostering for them since Nov. 2023 and it has been so special to watch the impact made on so many dogs. Kara & Holly are quite possibly the coolest gals who are doing some of the biggest things in life! The network of fosters, transporters and overall team helping make this rescue run smoothly is truly amazing! They rock!!
Kara reached out when I needed help re-homing a friend's dog when no one else did. I think you would be hard pressed to find a more committed and responsive rescue. Day in and day out they're handling sad situations and rescuing dogs. I have so much respect for and belief in this rescue. They've saved so many innocent lives and will continue to do so.
