My family had a wonderful time at Odd Man Inn sanctuary. Spending time with the pigs and learning about the great work the entire staff does daily to care for these creatures and to help foster love for all.
My second visit to Odd Man INN was as wonderful as the first. I volunteered for 3 days, May 2-4, 2025.
Just a magical place! Wendy has the volunteers jump right in to help the crew. During those 3 days, I helped prepare food bowls, participated in the feeding routine for big and little pigs, goats and the chicken too. Also, I went on Medical Rounds to observe animal care, changed water bowls and water troughs, scooped poop, brushed the steers with bug repellent and cleaned out their barn, brushed the goats and helped clean out their pasture, and washed food bowls after the afternoon feedings. A fun project was the repair of wind chimes damaged by the harsh winter winds.
The Animal Care Crew (Wendy, Daniel, Christa and Sunshine) and regular Volunteers (Angela and Amber) are a loving, compassionate, tireless group of wonderful humans. Everyone I worked with is friendly, patient and wildly passionate about taking the best care of the animals. The OMI property is peaceful and beautiful, from the pastures to the holler to the well-kept shelters, the tiny house, the Secret Snack Garden, and the NEW Cantina.
Feeling much gratitude that I had the privilege to spend time with and work hard for the cherished animals at OMI.
This is an amazing organization! They take meticulous care of their residents and clearly love the work they do. We spent 2 days visiting and the trip brought tears to my eyes. Wendy, one of the founders, took time out of her day to take us on a tour and we spent time talking through many of the decisions they have made--and she was eager to show the wonderful improvements that have taken place since they acquired the property. The animals are peacefully grazing and it is apparent that they are living their best lives. Each individual animals is known by name (all 175 pigs are recognized by name by every staff member!) and their individual needs are understood by the caregivers. There is a vibe of transparency and excitement; each staff person is eager to share stories about the residents if asked. The atmosphere is calm, which I know shows that the animals are content. OMI is truly a wonderful--not only for the animals but for those fortunate enough to visit. We are inspired by the genuinely thoughtful and high quality work that is done there.
When I first visited Odd Man Inn in Washougal, WA, in 2020 (my son and son-in-law used to volunteer there and still do), I was impressed by Wendy's dedication, hard work, sincerity, care, and love for the animals. I offered to volunteer to run their online store. Since then, I have become part of the remote team. Like all the people involved–the donors, friends, well-wishers, and volunteers–I also witnessed the extraordinary journey of Odd Man Inn from Washougal, WA to Jamestown, TN.
My husband and I recently visited Jamestown for the first time; we had seen photos of the old place and were in regular touch with various projects and updates that happened in the last three years. However, personally visiting it was a truly amazing experience. Seeing the transformation from what it was to what it is now and the vision and foresight of what it wants to be is surely astonishing. It is remarkable how the meticulously planned layout gives ample space to different animal species (pigs, cows, goats, sheep etc.) and types (giant and small, young and old, special needs and all others) and caters to their specific requirements. There is a perfect balance in maintaining and nurturing the wildlife areas along with animal shades, resting, grazing, bathing, grooming and feeding areas. While there, I saw the incredible hard work of the team and the extraordinary care that each animal resident receives. The attention to detail is visible everywhere, from everyday precision clockwork delivery of food (including special diets) and water to physical well-being to safety to medical and emotional needs of the animals. I wish all the animals in the world (and humans too) could live this way! There is peace and serenity everywhere.
Still, it is a busy place; so many things are happening, not only the daily routine, maintenance, and preparing for the change of seasons, but also the new projects for expanding and updating the facilities. And I am so happy to observe that Odd Man Inn is one of the most transparent organizations I have seen. Every dollar is spent judiciously for the benefit of the animals, and the team is very dedicated and responsible. It is truly my honor to be a part of this wonderful sanctuary.
I finally got to bring my parents to Odd Man Inn, and it was everything we'd hoped for and more. The moment you step in always feels surreal, like stepping into an Instagram live!
My parents were particularly blown away by the dedication of the animal care crew. It's incredible to see how just four passionate caregivers manage to give so much love and individualized attention to nearly 200 large farmed animals. Their innovative systems–this visit, I am thinking of Wendy's tour of the "squeeze" and Daniel's meal prep whiteboard, complete with color-coded bowls–are constantly evolving and improving, and that is evident in the quality of care each animal receives.
My family and I began volunteering with Odd Man Inn Animal Refuge in July 2021. The refuge has become a second home to us. The mission of the organization to be a safe haven for vulnerable animals is met by high standards of care for the animals and their home. The founder and staff of the organization work hard, smart, and with grit and foresight. And the result is apparent to anyone who is fortunate enough to visit or follow their online journey: The animals are in their best possible state of health, the property is well-tended and undergoes constant upgrades along with regular maintenance, and the collective peace one feels at the sanctuary is attributable to the immense amount of effort and hard work put into helping the animals feel content with their lives and their home.
I have volunteered for Odd Man Inn since the pandemic started in 2020. I was lucky enough to live close to the sanctuary back in Washington state and fell in love with all of their animals. I jumped at the chance to help move the sanctuary to Tennessee & was able to care for our pig friends there for a couple years. The sanctuary has grown exponentially, but the care for each and every resident remains the same. Every animal has everything they need including individualized medical care. They go above and beyond for their animal residents to ensure the best for each and every resident.
So grateful for the opportunity to volunteer at Odd Man Inn again. They have done so much to the property since taking it over. The changes have made such a positive difference in the quality of life for the residents.
The work they do is hard, on every level, especially when you have an aging herd and their end of life. What I love the most is all the personal accommodations they make for each animal lucky enough to call Odd Man Inn home. They have high standards in animal care, something that should be followed by all animal sanctuaries.
I highly recommend you visit. Josh, Wendy and Daniel are so knowledgeable and transparent sharing the ins and outs of sanctuary care. And there is always time to snuggle some animal friends :)
Just keeps getting better! This non-profit sets the standard for farm animal rescue care. It’s been an honor to visit again on my volunteer vacation. There are always improvements to the land, the animal’s housing structures and the systems. It’s an incredible experience to see so many pigs living in peaceful harmony, not mention cows, goats and chickens!
They have strict systems in place to quarantine new residents and they keep improving so many animal’s lives.
I’m so proud to volunteer my time there and cannot wait to go back.
And I highly recommend a visit or volunteer experience. It’s amazing for your soul!

Odd Man Inn is an amazing sanctuary. I’ve been a follower since before they moved to TN. Taking on an enormous responsibility of moving their animals cross country, as well as taking over a huge space with almost 200 pigs, is not an easy job. Wendy and Josh so carefully planned each step, fundraised for each project in such an organized manner, it was, and is, impressive. You can feel confident that each dollar donated is put to the best use to better the animal’s lives.
I’ve had the honor of visiting the property this past summer and I can’t even explain the peaceful feeling. I mean there are close to 200 pigs on this vast beautiful property and there’s peace morning, noon and night. Each family of pigs have their own housing and “neighborhood”. They always have access to outdoors and mud wallows, clean waters and a specialized formula of good, nutritious food (plus grazing!) The property is safe, clean and beautiful. I joke and call it a ‘pig resort’ ! With their efforts of physical labor and mental strategy, OMI has transformed that old land into a magical oasis for so many living beings.
They not only made a difference in the animal’s lives, but humans as well. OMI built a loving community and share this world with their followers; making each one of us feel like we too are making a small difference and playing a part.
I’m very proud to support them.
Had an amazing visit to OMI! Everyone there is so kind and caring! The animals are all so well taken care of. It’s a fact that the animal residents are truly put first and for most!
Very glad I got to spend a few days of vacation there volunteering. This was my 3rd visit here and I can’t wait for my next visit!
I had a little odd request. My husband loves pigs so I wanted to gift him a tour of the pig sanctuary I found! We had the best time with Wendy and Josh. They took us around the property, we got to see where and how the pigs lived. They answered all of our many questions throughout the tour too. My husband got to pet and love on so many pigs his smile was ear to ear! The love they have for these pigs (and cows and goats) is so evident in everything they do. After a couple hours at the sanctuary we got in the car to head home and my husband said “this was the best birthday present I ever received”.
As a donor and volunteer, I am constantly in awe of the crew at OMI. Every time I come to campus, there is a new improvement to benefit the animals. From innovative fundraising to specialized care, residents are given the very best opportunity for a wonderful life. They have even added educational opportunities in the form of the monthly pig forum for this who want to dive deeper into the philosophy of care and decisions made for the organization. And next school year they will be participating in a wonder internship program with high school students to educate in sanctuary care. Top tier organization!

I have volunteered with the animals of Odd Man Inn since 2018. I am one of the volunteers who was in Tennessee before Odd Man Inn came here. Wendy and Josh and the rest of the team welcomed me with open arms and I am treated as one of the family. I consider it a great honor to be a senior volunteer animal caregiver and I look forward to the days that I spend at the sanctuary.
I love that every time I visit there is some thing new, and improved that has been done on behalf of the animals. From infrastructure to feeding routines and maintenance of the herd, to medical records and care crew training, Odd Man Inn is constantly striving for improvement.
I have learned so much about the care of the farmed animals that now make their home at Odd Man Inn! I went from having no knowledge of any type of farm work to being a valuable member of the team, who can independently tackle many of the regular chores on the property. The kind of care that I have gotten from the crew at Odd Man Inn is commensurate with the care that all of the animals receive regularly. There is a belief that everything is connected, because it truly is the animals matter, and the people matter, too.
My wife and I gave six figures to this organization when we trusted that their main purpose was to be thought leaders on the care of farm animals within a refuge. We no longer trust the organizations operators or board members to make the best decisions for the animals. We will not be giving any more money to this organization.
I was a large donor. Well into the six figures. I no longer trust the operators or the board. In my experience, there’s lots of behind the scenes flawed decisions that has made me no longer a donor or supporter of this organization. I fully regret the money that I did donate.
I am a pet pig-specific veterinarian and work with a number of rescue organizations throughout the US (sometimes across the world). Odd Man Inn is, hands down, the most well-run pig rescue that I've come across in more than 20 years of practice. The level of animal care provided, medical expertise, educational outreach, and transparency are unparalleled. Just recently, they completed the final spay and all pigs in a herd of nearly 200 are now sterilized and healthy - such an amazing feat! The attached photos show a tusk trim, acupuncture to help reduce the pain & inflammation of arthritis in an elderly pig, and a happy pig greeting me.
I have been following OMI and started supporting them through patreon after becoming aware of this incredible animal refuge. I recently had the honor and pleasure to visit and volunteer for 3 days. What an incredible experience it was from getting to meet all my favorite sanctuary babes to lending a hand in all the daily tasks, from feed routines to hoof trims, changing waters, scooping poop, making medication sammies and even getting to witness a tusk trim. It was such an honor to get to serve these beautiful souls. Wendy and Josh are a guiding light in the Sanctuary world. They are continually improving their refuge and helping to educate others on how to do the same. I can't wait till I can come back to volunteer again next year!
Had the pleasure of going down to Odd Man to pick up a tiny house and I got to see the vast area of room the oinking tenants have. This place is wonderful so open and free. There definitely was a training session that I had to teach to some of the facility that was escorting is around. I had to show them how to “Sidehill” out of the bottom of the holler! Reason being is this makes it less of a straight up hike, LOL. Wendy and Josh have made this place an amazing wonderland for the animals. The medical care and the great watchful eyes of the staff really keeps everyone happy and healthy. At the end of the day we did get to finish our visit up with some GREAT vegan tacos. They were awesome, so I would like to thank the chef as well. “Sunshine great job, nailed it”
I love OMI! I currently volunteer at OMI and I'm a donor. I love the excellent care all of the 200 residents get there. I love that they're very thoughtful with how they spend hard earned donor dollars. The staff is knowledgeable, hardworking and kind. I highly recommend that anyone that's looking for a way to make a difference donate, volunteer or share OMI's posts with friends!
Hello! I just want to start by saying this sanctuary and the people who run it have been nothing short of a blessing. I have had my pet pig Bruce for the last five years. I got him when he was a baby at the mall as they were selling them as, "Mini Pigs". Well within the first year, we found out he was not in fact a mini pig. But I still wanted to care for him, so we just made accommodations as the years went on. In this past year I have started college, and my workload has been very busy as well. Bruce was in need of more care daily than I was able to provide. Not only that but I was unable to help in certain ways, such as his hooves. When I found out about Odd Man Inn, I immediately contacted them to see if they could help me. Wendy, the lovely lady who reached out to me, completely understood my situation and offered to help me out. These people came all the way out to my house to come and get Bruce and provide him with a new life. I cannot thank them enough. Bruce is now in their fabulous care living a wonderful life, where he has been cared for daily and giving all the attention he deserves. This sanctuary has been so wonderful, and they have been very helpful and understanding of my situation. Thank you all so much!!
This short review can't even begin to explain the magic that is ODD MAN INN!! Top notch health care! Such thoughtful decision making and just complete integrity shown by the staff. I love their long term sustainable goals, plans and projections. I'm blown away by the level of love and respect shown to each and every soul in their care. This facility should serve as a blue print to all sanctuaries on how to do it right!
As a fellow sanctuary founder, myself I often ask myself, "What would OMI do?"
Odd Man Inn is what we should all strive to be like. Smart, compassionate and all around just the kindest people you'll meet. Not only do they go above and beyond for any animal in need, Josh and Wendy support those of us that are also trying to make the world a better place for animals. With humor, transparency and compassion, they show what it's truly like to run an animal sanctuary. The community they have created is one of a kind and the love that community shows for each animal is a testament to how hard Josh and Wendy have worked to create a place where everyone is a sanctuary babe and is treated as such. It is always a pleasure to work with any member of their team and I'm honored to be a supporter and friend to Odd Man Inn.
I’ve been following OMI for several years. I watched them lovingly move the Washington babies to Tennessee to help a large pig rescue when the previous owners found the work of rescue to be too much for an aging couple. I became a donor and then a vacation volunteer. Everyone at OMI loves the “sanctuary babes” and go above and beyond to make sure they are well fed, medically cared for, cozy in the winter and cool in the summer. I was honored to help these beautiful souls and witnessed first hand how completely devoted Wendy and Josh and the crew Sunshine, Vickey, and Daniel are to their growing sanctuary babe family. (They care for their human community too) I will volunteer as often as I can and continue to donate to support them as they continue to make a safe and loving home for the residents of OMI! (Pictured: Wendy in the grain bin unsticking the stuck grain. Me taking a break and enjoying the beautiful view. Tommy in the medical isolation “house” to keep him from over doing it while he healed a bum foot. The “sanctuary babes” waiting for dinner.)
Odd Man Inn Animal Refuge is a wonderful home for about 200 farmed animals. We just made our fourth visit to volunteer. It has been a great experience every time because you can jump right in and help...there is always a lot to do. The entire staff and the regular volunteers are very welcoming and helpful. We love to visit with the animals, and we also love visiting the people. Odd Man Inn provides exemplary animal care to their residents and is a completely transparent organization. We are donors also, and I can tell you we are very proud to support Odd Man Inn.
I began supporting Odd Man Inn 7 years ago when I found them on Instagram and started to understand the level of care they give to animals as well as donor dollars and engagement. Several weeks ago Wendy posted about a pair of stray, bonded brother kittens. As you may know, they are a pig sanctuary, but as per usual, they are committed to goodness for all animals in their care. When I went to meet the boys and Wendy, she was kind enough to show me their operation. What they are doing here in TN is incredible in so many ways. A couple of weeks later we met to transfer the boys into my care, and I think all of us are happy about this adoption!
Odd Man Inn Animal Refuge is an amazing organization, one I am proud to support. I have had the opportunity to visit and volunteer the last two years and look forward to many more return trips. In the few years since Odd Man Inn has taken over the property, they have made many improvements in order to provide a beautiful, safe, sanctuary to the approximately 200 rescued farm animals. The costs associated with caring for the health and wellness of the animal residents as well as the maintenance is large. As a donor, it is important to know how those donations are being used. The founders talk openly about where donations are going and thoughtfully and strategically (and creatively :)) fundraise for projects as needed. This ensures the sustainability of the organization as well as the promise made to the animals living there. If I had to give one word for time spent there it would be peaceful. In a world which primarily sees farm animals as here for us, Odd Man Inn shows us that they are in fact here with us- kindness and compassion for all!
I started following OMI On IG during Covid. I was quickly enamored with the care, love, and support that is given to the animals. I loved the posts Wendy and Josh make and the way they tell the animals stories- ALL of the animals- even the bitey ones. After following quietly for awhile, I knew in my heart it was time to do more.
I started volunteering at OMI in May of 2022. I had never been around pigs before and Josh sat down with me and introduced me to Alice. I was taught how to approach pigs and given the reasons WHY it is important to make these sweet prey animals feel safe and not trapped. Each time I visit I am welcomed whole heartedly by the whole crew. One of the many things I love is how I was taught to do things there. It was calm and thorough. I was never put in a place I was uncomfortable and I was given very clear instructions on how to make the animals feel safe and how to keep myself safe. If a situation could have been handled in a different way, the whole crew gave solid supportive ways to try it next time. I was treated, from the very start, as a valued member of the team.
The work ethic there is second to none. Providing shelter, warmth, coolness, fresh water daily, nutritious food and snacks, medical care and unconditional love with such a tiny team is done so well. It is such an honor and privilege to work alongside such dedicated humans. I continue to be amazed at the work that they accomplish every time I return for a visit. Not only did they spay all of their females (54!!!) but they are helping veterinary schools learn about care for these farmed animals. They are providing real life statistics and knowledge and sharing it with the sanctuary and veterinary world to better the care given to the animals.
Thank you Wendy, Josh, Vicky, Sunshine, Daniel, Amber, Angela and all of the others who work so hard to make the lives of animals better.
Odd Man Inn is more than just a sanctuary; it's home to over 200 reasons why love and kindness win—yes, that includes all the animals, the care crew, and the volunteers. Seeing the last of our 54 adult lady pigs receive successful spays and going on to live their best Sanctuary Babe lives has been the highlight of my year. (Go Frances and LulaBelle!!)
But let’s not forget the vibrant online community of passionate supporters and donors making compassion accessible and downright cool. It's a highlight of my week to catch up on the Friday News Briefs and feel the virtual camaraderie of this amazing group. Together, we're all part of the OMI family, near and far.
Odd Man Inn is an amazing place! I've been going out there and volunteering since 2016 before OMI took over. The positive changes they've made since then are amazing! They've made things so much safer for the animals as well as the humans caring for them. I was fortunate enough to see all the changes they've made since taking over. The animals are receiving the care they deserve and are living out their lives in peace. Can't wait to get back out there!
Odd Man Inn is the gold standard in farmed animal sanctuaries. I wish every human could experience the care, respect, and freedom to live their best lives that the pigs at OMI get. All the people, from the founders to the board to the employees and volunteers (of which I am one) hold this as a sacrosanct mission, and I’m proud, honored, and delighted to be a part of this sanctuary. It’s a very peaceful place in a very chaotic world.
Odd Man Inn provides the highest level of care for their residents on a grand scale. The only sanctuary of its kind for pigs to roam freely on many acres of land, yet supported and watched over to meet all of their needs. The staff are welcoming and eager to show you the daily lives of the residents. Their love and dedication for the organization and for the residents is so very apparent in all they do. I have visited the sanctuary twice and can't wait make a third trip.
Volunteering at Odd Man Inn since September 2020 has been transformative. Washington Yoda and Toots the Turkey welcomed me on my first day of volunteering. Whether scooping poop or brushing Sweetheart the goat, every task had meaning.
Now a volunteer board member, my admiration for Wendy and Josh's dedication—and the ground crew's hard work—only grows.
The Tennessee property's evolution is also remarkable after OMI took over. Chaotic feedings have given way to tranquility, thanks to Josh's intelligent systems design. The animals are thriving with Wendy and Daniel's skilled and attentive care, a sight that is always heartwarming. It's genuinely commendable how a lean team of caregivers provides exceptional care, including top-notch medicare care, to nearly 200 animal residents, including 180 pigs.
Being part of this board lets me contribute to and learn from a sanctuary that exemplifies dedication to animal welfare.
I have been a donor since finding Odd Man Inn in 2019 shortly after becoming vegan formerly vegetarian. It has been an honor and privilege to follow their mission along the way. I have made 2 trips to the current TN OMI refuge in 2023, I plan on going back at least twice a year all the way from Montana! I have seen the hard work and effort Wendy, Josh, Sunshine, Vicky and a few regular volunteers do on a daily basis. It’s great to be able to jump right in and help where you are needed. If you follow closely on their page you know what to expect because they are showing you exactly what they do on a daily basis. The people of Odd Man Inn are trailblazers for setting the example for superb medical, environmental, educational skills while responsibly managing a large herd for sanctuary life.

I scored an awesome opportunity to volunteer at Odd Man Inn Animal Refuge and got to hang out with their four-legged and two-legged family. The Animal Care Crew was warm and welcoming and I was immediately embraced as part of the group. The systems the founders, Josh and Wendy Smith, put in place for volunteers made me feel like a pro team player from the start.
The animals were so chill and happy, thanks to the top-notch care and love they receive on a regular basis. It's heartwarming to see such a deep commitment to animal welfare at a sanctuary. Overall it was an AMAZING experience and intend to volunteer there regularly.
We’ve been completely enamored with the work of Josh, Wendy, and the great people at OMI, for a few years now. I was able to visit this summer and wow I was bowled over by the commitment to compassion and respect for life that exudes from this fantastic organization. The tour was exceptional. I would recommend to anybody to please donate to OMI and support this conscious way forward.
I’m not sure I could be more in love with Odd Man Inn and the phenomenal work they do taking care of the animal residents in their care.
I started working with them when they initially moved to Tennessee to take over the existing sanctuary. I have seen the animal residents overall health, happiness and quality of life improve exponentially in the time they’ve been here.
Everything from, having an expert help them fine tune the resident animals food to make sure it meets their nutritional needs, to rebuilding their homes, to providing regular “pedicures” and tusk trims to providing endless medical care that is so needed for these large beautiful animals.
The OMI team think through every part of these animals lives to make sure they are providing the best possible life and it is a beautiful thing to witness and be a part of!!
I can’t speak highly enough about them and the hard work they put in for the animals.
I have been a follower of Odd Man Inn for over 2 years, and a Patron on their Patreon for almost as long. Josh and Wendy are an amazingly hard-working, frugal and do it yourself couple who care deeply about saving animals, educating about animals and in so doing helping to save the environment. Their hearts are huge and despite working non-stop they maintain happy, sometimes silly, always heartwarming content on social media.
They go the extra mile and then some for their charges, because everyone deserves it. Recently Josh drove across country to get Jolene (a beautiful pig) a CT scan that was only available on the East Coast. Wendy recently became certified as a Wildlife Rehabilitator because their county had no rehaber and wildlife deserves care too.
Unlike a lot of sanctuaries, Odd Man Inn's mission is not just to house and care for a finite number of animals but to adopt them out to loving homes so they can save even more. I am extremely proud to be one of their supporters.
i learn SO much about the residents AND animal care from this wonderful place. seeing the work they do renews my faith in humanity and i can’t think of a worthier cause i’d rather help.
Odd Man Inn is the most amazing animal sanctuary. Their rescue and adoption efforts are continuous, responsible and educational. Wendy and Josh who run the refuge are wonderful representatives of how we should and should not be treating animals. An example, is when Wendy was earning her wildlife rescue certification. She included her online supporters in the process and we are now learning how small rescued wildlife should be treated while recovering from injuries. They are innovative and groundbreaking when assisting and allowing their animals to live a life of health and dignity. They give their animals and supporters alike a large dose of compassion, humor, reality and love. Supporting their efforts brings joy and light into our world.
Wendy and Josh of Odd Man Inn put their heart and soul into this rescue, and it is absolutely inspiring. They work so hard to ensure all of the animals under their care have a stress free forever home to help them heal from their previous torture and abuse. To see the continuous transformations of these sweet beings is always so heart warming. They give me a reason to keep believing the world is a good place.
Wendy and Josh have created a safe and loving home for the animals that no one else wants. They save animals from the most desperate situations and often in need of critical medical care and give them expert care on limited resources. They make smart, frugal decisions with compassion at the heart of everything they do.
I donate monthly to Odd Man Inn because they put the animals first. They creatively use each donation dollar to get the most out of each one for the animals! They are even expanding to provide services for animals the local community And most of I donate time and money because I support their mission and the obvious love that goes into caring for each animal.
I donate to this wonderful organization because of the love and care and compassion for every single rescue. Even the ones that bite! No matter to OMI, they just love them harder. Wendy is the animal whisperer and Josh is a storyteller. These two together dedicated all they are and all they have to their rescue. I can’t even imagine how they do it or have time to make everyone that helps and gives to them feel good. “Simply The Best”!!! Love Odd Man Inn, Teresita McPherson @maciblue
I have been following OMI on social media from Australia for a while now and was inspired to become a Patreon after learning Melvin’s story. Josh, Wendy and the Animal Care Crew go above and beyond to rescue and rehabilitate any animal lucky enough to cross their path. I look forward to watching this organisation grow to become a template for other sanctuaries to follow. A heartfelt Thankyou for all you do xxxx
The team at Odd Man Inn( Wendy, Josh, and their Animal Care Team) work tirelessly day in, day out, to provide a refuge for animals who would otherwise be overlooked. I am a big fan of the heartwarming work they do with the llamas, pigs, cows, goats, pigeons, dogs, cats, ducks...well, you get the picture... in their care. I donate to their cause monthly, and pick up great fundraising swag when I can. The people who make OMI the special, safe, and loving home it is are truly my heroes.
I follow several wonderful animal rescues and sanctuaries. I honestly don't remember how I first came upon Odd Man Inn, by way of another sanctuary I imagine, but I'm so glad I did. I live way across the country, yet somehow felt an immediate connection with Josh and Wendy from OMI. They represent everything I want to support and be a part of. They are the embodiment of kindness and an impressive example on living your values. I know any small financial contribution I'm able to make, will be utilized to its maximum potential. Not a dime wasted. OMI is tirelessly run by the hardest working people I know of, along with their small army of devoted and ambitious volunteers. OMI not only rescues animals in desperate need, often the most difficult cases, but also engages their local community and thousands of followers around the world. They educate without preaching and encourage compassion. I believe in OMI and all they work so hard to accomplish. Thank you Josh and Wendy for making me feel a part of Odd Man Inn, I'm so proud to stand with you!
❤ Pascale in NH
PS, did I mention how cute the OMI residents are??? Check them out!
Odd Man Inn is a respite from the atrocities of the world, for both people and animals alike. The animals who are lucky enough to call Odd Man Inn their home are given respect, love, and most importantly-a life without fear or risk of exploitation.
The animals get customized meals with fresh produce. They get brushed. They get belly rubs and kisses. They sleep by a wood stove when it’s cold. They play in kiddie pools when it’s hot. They are loved immensely.
Josh and Wendy are everything that is right with this world, and I am ridiculously grateful to be part of the team and also to call them my friends.
When I came to Odd Man Inn I had no farm animal experience, but wanted to make a difference in the lives of the ones I follow online. From the second my feet touched their property I began to learn and grow. They encourage their followers and volunteers to challenge their ideals and to continually strive to be better for themselves and the beings around them. They do so in a positive way that never feels judgmental or unkind. They have helped me find a sense of accomplishment and I look forward to each shift knowing I’m surrounded by family and friends. They changed my life and they change the lives of everyone, human and animal, they come in contact with.
Odd Man Inn has singlehandedly changed my life for the better. I look forward to my shifts every week, because the animals and the fellow volunteers (and Josh and Wendy of course) have all become my family. I feel lucky to be apart of something so much bigger than me. OMI creates such a fantastic and supportive environment for these neglected and discarded animals & they make the best use possible of the resources they receive to care for the residents. When we say “sanctuary babe life”, we truly mean it. I haven’t met pigs who eat better than these guys do lol, and the amount of love they receive day in and day out is incredible. I cannot say enough good things about this organization.
Odd Man Inn is an awesome nonprofit that takes in all kinds of animals in need. As a volunteer, I’ve grown attached to all the residents at the sanctuary and love spending time getting to know their individual personalities. Josh and Wendy do an amazing job at making the Animal Care Crew feel appreciated and part of the family. I’m so glad to know them and am looking forward to seeing them grow as an organization :)
The general mission of Odd Man Inn is to leave NO animal behind...no matter how dire, moody, hard to get, or just plain bitey they may be!
I've personally always been a bit "odd" to most, so imagine my utter delight in discovering they existed. Then in the wacky way the universe works, the sanctuary in California I volunteered at had adopted a pig from OMI. Fast forward about 2 months & I'm at their front gate! Ready to meet the whole gang (that's ALOT of names!!) & get to work. Scooping poops the name of the game & I play hard! Fresh water. Clean beds. Tidy hang out areas. And SNACKs!! These sanctuary babes are WELL taken care of.....and they all deserve every bit of it!
Wendy & Josh treat their Animal Care Crew with trust, respect & thankfulness everyday. And they have an amazing group of selfless individuals with only one thing in common....LOVE. The love they have for the animals is beautiful to see & inspiring. Makes me want to do more. Be more. Be a louder voice for the voiceless. That's why I went that first day & why I keep going back! (well let's be totally honest...the cute & super snuggly piggies keep me coming back too)
Volunteering here is one of my favorite things to do. I've been able to learn so many new things about animals and what it takes to operate an animal sanctuary. This is truly a magical place. 10/5 stars.
In my personal life, I have participated in multiple outlets with the aim to achieve more rights for animals. I would passionately explain the injustices done to animals under the animal agriculture industry, "we know" my friends and family would say. It wasnt until I started volunteering here that they actually started paying attention, and here's why:
When we witness the individual within the animal, we have the opportunity to connect with them. While we do this with cats, dogs, horses, and other pets, we hardly ever to this with cows, pigs, sheep, goats, and other "live stock" animals. Oddman Inn provides this amazing opportunity to connect with the animals we have neglected, the ones who have fallen through the cracks. This connection has the power to open our hearts to a new level of compassion, and enlighten our choices in consumerism; adhering to a more ethical and environmentally friendly approach. It's all happening here at Oddman Inn! They see the potential of this, this "butterfly effect" of compassion combined with hard work. They see the potential in their volunteers, and help them learn new skills. It's so great to be out there working side by side through rain or shine, just to make the world a little better for some of the forgotten ones, and to create this bridge between them, the animal world, and us humans. Therein we learn about our potential friends: the playful little pig named Yoda, the sweet and gentle goat named Magpie, the list goes on.
The total impact of this place is thus entered into the realm of compound interest; that fertile bed for the unimaginable and miraculous! Cheers to Oddman Inn!!
