I wish I could add more stars to my review! My husband and I joined the Trinidad: Land of the Leatherbacks volunteer trip last month. We had no idea what to expect. Let me just put it succinctly. We were both blown away. From the moment we joined the field crew of 14 turtle enthusiasts and 2 fabulous naturalists, we started making once-in-a-lifetime memories. Our very first night on beach patrols on remote Matura Bay, we were able to view our first majestic nesting leatherbacks. Seeing the 500-800 mama turtles emerging from the sea, navigatingup the beach and carefully choosing their nesting area was a sight to behold. We were all riveted as the turtles laid their eggs, camouflaged the nests and slipped back into the ocean. Educational sessions followed in which we learned of their migration from Canada each year and were trained in the hands-on techniques of microchipping, flipper-tagging and measuring these great marine wonders. I've microchipped abused and neglected cats and dogs in my rescue work in the U.S. I never dreamed I'd get to microchip these majestic moms. Each night and many mornings we joined the local Nature Seekers to patrol beach segments and continue data-gathering. Each day we continued bonding with like-minded amateur conservationists in our group and learning more about the Matura community which once existed by slaughtering the turtles and now flourishes by saving them. All the while our two brilliant, engaging and entertaining naturalists continued our turtle education and kept us involved even into the early morning hours that the turtle monitoring requires. It was truly amazing, exhilarating and wonderful. We would do it again in a heartbeat. I can't imagine making this or other conservation journeys with any other group than the Oceanic Society which created this spectacular expedition. We can't wait to join our next adventure!
I have traveled with OS on 5 trips and all of them have been truly outstanding. I love knowing that my trip is making a difference. All staff have been incredibly passionate and knowledgable. I won't travel with anyone else!
one of the best groups to partner with! they're all extremely knowledgable, fun, and committed to their work.
I worked with Oceanic on the global cleanup and loved the work that they do. They really make the extra effort to education the participants about what is going on in our oceans, and how we can all make a difference in our every day lives.
If I could give 10 stars I would! One of the BEST groups I have ever traveled with, and their commitment to the environment and education is unprecedented.
I worked with OS as a corporate partner and could not be happier that the impact my donation has made. Working with them has been a breeze, and the work they do is massively impactful.
Lifechanging experience with Oceanic Society on my recent trip. I love the work that they do and i'm glad my personal travel could support such a vital nonprofit.
I came back from our trip to Belize ready to learn more about the ocean. The staff and naturalists are fantastic, and I learned so much along the way. I am now a small donor and couldn't feel more confident with the organization I am supporting. If you ever need a travel organization, or a nonprofit to support - you can't go wrong with Oceanic Society!
The best expedition I’ve ever been on! The guides are thoroughly passionate and educated, and made every second meaningful. Highly recommend traveling with them or supporting their work!
I love the work that they do with sea turtles and plastic pollution. Great organization, people, and mission.
I can’t say enough good things about Rosie! The work that she does with the oceanic Society in educating people, sharing conservation strategies and impacts, as well as her ability to be an amazing ambassador to other cultures and countries. In planning a trip to Africa, she has been prompt with answers to questions, guiding us through all of the criteria and requirements as well as small, helpful hints about, all the Down to what sunscreen to bring! She is enthusiastic and energetic, and you can sense her passion in what she does! The oceanic Society is lucky to have her and actually our planet is lucky to have her!
I absolutely love the work they do! As a teacher it is so important to put the message out about organizations that are doing the right thing. New state learning standards are adding climate change and they offer such great information and resources. I even was fortunate enough to adopt an animal as a class pet!
I heard about Oceanic Society through a friend and decided to take a trip with them to Belize. It was hands down one of the best trips I have been on. I had not been snorkeling in years so was a bit nervous but the guides were all attentive and easy to follow. They were very knowledgable about marine life (birds, too) and took time to point things out while snorkeling that I likely would have missed otherwise. It made the trip more exciting and I began to spot things better on my own by the end of the week. We also got a lot of underwater photos from Abel which was nice to share with friends and family.
One of the staff gave a presentation about their mangrove restoration efforts post-hurricane which was interesting. I appreciate that Oceanic Society supports conservation efforts and hope to take another trip with them in the future.
I traveled to Raja Ampat with Oceanic Society on a liveaboard expedition and it was truly a trip of a life time. Our Naturalists Dalton was wonderful and very knowledgable not only under but also above water. We had an amazing time spotting nudibranchs and swimming sharks and dancing with mantas. Our Oceanic hostess Pei Lee went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly from trip preparation to onboard services. Everyone in our group was fun to be with and we all enjoy the ocean. I am very looking forward to travel with OS again and support their conservation works.
I traveled with Oceanic Society to Antarctica and it was the trip of a lifetime! We traveled with Rod Mast, the CEO of OS, and he made the already amazing trip even more spectacular. He's super friendly and has a breadth of knowledge about sea turtles you couldn't even imagine.
This was my second time traveling with Oceanic Society and both times the trips were well organized and the staff went above and beyond to made sure everyone was accounted for and was having a good time!
The last 2 trips one to Indonesia and one to Antarctica have been life changing; not only what we learned from experts in their fields and what we can do to be more ocean friendly, but the direct contact with the ocean and their inhabitants and their relationship to us.
Love this group! They are down to earth and driven individuals who are passionate about the ocean and our planet. I would without hesitation encourage people to support this cause.
Oceanic Society has been leading International expeditions for over 50 years and is a true pioneer in Ecotourism. While many of their trips focus on marine environments they also do some wonderful land based trips and safaris. One thing I really enjoy is that on Oceanic trips I do not just see something cool but I also learn about what I am seeing, and their naturalists make sure the group participants understand how they are connected to the environment they are visiting. Their trips are designed to make sure you are in the right location at the best time so you have a truly immersive experience in nature.
I have traveled with Oceanic Society on multiple occasions, and I must say, they never fail to impress me. Their exceptional partnerships around the world ensure that every expedition is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I was so impressed with their efforts that I decided to become a small donor to their cause. Every month, I eagerly anticipate their newsletter to learn more about the innovative work they're doing.
The team at Oceanic Society is truly passionate and dedicated to their mission, making them an excellent choice for anyone seeking sustainable tourism expeditions, wildlife trips, or those looking to become more involved in ocean conservation. I wholeheartedly recommend them!-

Thank you for your positive feedback! We appreciate your partnership.
I just returned from a trip with Oceanic Society. They were absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. I highly recommend traveling with them or working with them on their oceanic conservation initiatives!

Thank you for your kind review, we hope to have you back on another trip!
There are lots of options for eco-tourism, but there are none (that I know of) that are staffed by people who have such passion for the ocean. These aren't tour guides; these are researchers and conservationists who have dedicated their lives to oceanic work. You can't fake that. You can't simulate it. And it is what makes a trip with Oceanic Society more meaningful, interesting, and profound than any other. Highly recommended. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.

This means so much, we all love what we do and sharing it with passionate people around the world. Thank you!
I have loved my experiences so far with Oceanic Society. I just returned from a trip to Trinidad with Rosie and Ashleigh who were the best naturalists. The organization does tremendous work alongside their conservation trips. They run the only global sea turtle conservation network, focus on behavior change social science, plastic pollution, and so much more. I highly recommend working with them, traveling with them or donating to them. Turtle that!

Thank you! It was great having you as a part of our sea turtle volunteer crew. Turtle that!
As a long-time supporter of oceanic conservation, I recently made a donation to the Oceanic Society and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience. I was impressed with how transparent and accountable the organization is with their use of funds. It's clear that the Oceanic Society is deeply committed to protecting our oceans and the incredible creatures that call them home. They have a well-documented track record of impactful conservation work, including research and education programs, behavior change and social science programs, community-based outreach campaigns, equitable access to nature programs, and sea turtle conservation (to name a few!).
What's more, I trust that donating to the Oceanic Society provides the highest dollar to impact ratio of any conservation organization I've supported. They are incredibly efficient with their use of funds, ensuring that every dollar goes towards making a difference in the fight to protect our oceans, and keeping me and my foundation informed every step of the way. Their dedication to conservation and education is truly inspiring, and I feel proud to be a part of their efforts. I highly recommend supporting this wonderful organization and the critical work that they do.

Thank you so much for supporting our work!
Not only does Oceanic Society lead wonderful trips around the world, they also give back to local communities and conservation projects. It makes you feel like you're doing good by going on a trip with them! Each trip I've been on with them, the guides have been extremely knowledgeable and helpful and make you feel like you're being immersed in the nature of the region. I love knowing that some of what I pay for the trips supports ocean conservation.

Thank you for reviewing us! Glad you had a great experience.
OS is a wonderful non profit organization that offers snorkeling expeditions in many destinations around the world. Their trips are off the beaten path, small group, and lead by very knowledgeable marine biologists. I am very glad that I traveled with them to Palau and knowing my participation contributed to positive impact of the ocean.

Glad you had a great time, and thank you for choosing to travel with OS!
The work they do is vital to our oceans, they connect people to nature and build a bridge between awareness and action. Not many other nonprofits focus on behavior change, so I am thankful for their dedication. They also run the only global sea turtle conservation network, lead sustainable trips around the world, increase access to nature for under-represented communities, and is America's oldest nonprofit dedicated to our ocean. I highly recommend supporting them!
