Mission: Chemung arc is a community organization committed to meeting the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. Through community engagement and acceptance, we create opportunities for individual growth, productivity and independence. Our passion for excellence is evidenced by our quality services, education, advocacy and family partnerships.
Programs: Residential services - chemung arc's residential services program offers a variety of living arrangements to over 100 individuals with developmental disabilities in sixteen different settings throughout the chemung county area. Homes are located in community neighborhoods close to parks, shops, the transit system, medical facilities, banks and gyms. Staff support in the various residences ranges from intensive care to training, depending on the interests and needs of the people being served. Our person centered and community minded philosophies are ever present in the daily lives of the people we serve. Residents are encouraged to use their living situations to learn skills that will lead to their increased independence while leading meaningful and enriching lives.
vocational services - chemung arc's vocational training and job placement program provides support to over 250 individuals with developmental disabilities who do real work for real pay and learn job skills that they carry with them forever. The goal is to provide individuals with developmental disabilities with a noramlized vocational training and placement environment, which will maximize growth through positive work experiences. Staff develop individual work plans for each of the individuals that we support. Individual growth leads to employment in a least restrictive environment, even for those with substantial employment challenges.
family support services - chemung arc's family support services program serves more than 300 individuals in the chemung county area. This program connects individuals served by the agency with services in the community. The focus is person-centered where we are constantly working to meet the needs of the people we support in new and better ways. Individualized services include recreation, seniors day habilitation, family care reimbursement, preventive services, medicaid service coordination, individual support services, community day and residential habilitation, after school respite, intake coordination and community education.
developmental health services, chemung arc's article 16 clinic, provides services to over 350 people. Services being provided include social work, rehabilitation, nursing and behavioral support coordination. The services are designed to enhance an individual's independence, integration and productivity.
