Causes: Congregate Meals, Food, Meals on Wheels, Nutrition
Mission: To provide meals and other nutrition services that promote dignity, well being and independence for older adults and other persons in need in tompkins county.
Programs: Iiic is a title under the federal older americans act of 1965 as amended, which authorizes the senior nutrition program. Foodnet's iiic grant includes federal funds and local tompkins county funds (a minimum 10% local match is required and tompkins county provides additional local funds). Iiic-1 authorizes and supports congregate meal services - we provide 4 community meal sites, nutrition education and nutrition counseling through this program. Iiic-2 authorizes and supports home delivered meal services - we provide home delivered meals, nutrition education and nutrition counseling to much of tompkins county through this program.
win stands for wellness in nutrition and is a new york state program that supplements nutrition services provided through the older americans act. In tompkins county, win funds provide additional home delivered meals, nutrition education and nutrition counseling to people who would be unserved or underserved without it.
cse stands for community services for the elderly program and is a new york state program that provides funds to local offices for the aging to improve the ability of communities to assist elderly people who need help in order to remain in their homes and to participate in family and community life. Cse is the most flexible program managed by offices for the aging and their subcontractors. Each office for aging has discretion to direct the cse funds where they will do the most good for the local community. In tompkins county, cse funds support 10 different programs
