Nu Creations Outreach

Results: In the last two years Nu Creation Outreach self raised over $200,000 from local residents that believe in our programs. In 2010 we have opened a youth center in Bakersfield, Ca servicing over 300 youth and passing out over 12,400 food baskets feeding needy families. Over the summer of 2010, Mayor Hall of Bakersfield allowed our youth program to adopt an area located in southwest Bakersfield (Green Belt) to keep the place clean of graffiti and also cleaning up the streets. In 2011 our Youth Center in Bakersfield served over 350 youth, and assessed approximately 12,500 food baskets to needy families. Youth that came to our facility came repetitively because they felt a safe homelike setting where they can learn and enjoy childhood. We also self raised $10,000 deposit money for our new facility in Oakland, That just opened Feb 14, 2012. Program Directors and facilitators have has worked in combined over 1,000 hrs without pay to assure the existence of this organization and its services to our community.

Programs: Throughout the United States including Oakland and Bakersfield California, communities are faced with the devastating effects of the lack of education for tomorrow’s future. This missing link strikes a powerful blow in Alameda and Kern County, for example less than 80% of schools (Elementary to Junior High School) are not meeting the States requirements for education in the area to which we serve. Oakland rates 3rd in our nation for homicides, Bakersfield is first in the nation for teen pregnancy. In 2011 there were 110 homicides in Oakland alone, 3 of which were children under the age of 6yrs old on three separate occasions. Studies also show that the need for assistance with food and resources in our community has grown over 15% from last year. A lot of activities and opportunities for the youth have closed their doors in our community, as well as job opportunities for the parents. There are insufficient programs and facilities for youth, while more likely to be affected by this, low income urban populations of color tend not to see their power in addressing the problems. Couple this with an exodus of businesses and jobs, a high dropout rate among youth, a wide spread of teen pregnancies and S.T.D.s, homicides and poverty and you have an extremely distressed community in need of interventions and a few resources to provide them. To respond to the needs stated above, we wish to revive both our city and its residents. We are particularly concerned with giving our youth -our future- the tools to engage in personal and community revival. The primary objective of the Youth Center and Food Pantry, is to provide a free to the public safe haven for children of all ethnicities from the ages of 8yrs of age to 17yrs of age, to come and get help with school work, get tutoring, interact with others in a positive atmosphere, learn of the different careers to choose from and empower them by surrounding them with positive role models, resources, and community services. We believe that will sew in good seeds like love, peace, prosperity, harmony and respect for others as well as themselves. This year-long program is a comprehensive, community-focused effort to engage in this predominately Black and Hispanic community in Oakland and Bakersfield, Ca. particularly targeting youth who face economic, educational, and or personal barriers such as deficiency in basic literacy skills, out of school, pregnancy or parenthood, or involvement in the justice system. As needed, we will provide assessments and case management, collage preparation, academic support, mentoring, one on one and group counseling, and referrals to community resources. Through this program we not only want to prepare the next generation with tools that they need to become productive citizens, but to also help to provide food and other essentials to other needy families. We also plan to interact, assets and collaborate with local schools, legal authorities, agencies, families, and individuals. Our board believes that if we evaluate each child, giving them all individual attention and interest in their life, strengthen them and encourage them in times of distress, award them and applaud them on their success, educate and motivate them where they lack skills, participate in joyful and physical activities that will give them positive entertainment and events that will broaden their values on life and teach them unity and harmony amongst all. In connection, we want to provide our neighbors with food and necessary resources to help them survive the hard times. Our Youth Center Food Pantry activities are expected to result in participants having an increased understanding of education, prosperity, leadership, job opportunities & skills required, friendship, teamwork, self respect as well as respect for others. Participants will undergo a weekly performance review which requires letters from Teachers, Schools, from home and from the facilitator at our facility. They will be rated on the following factors: Productivity, dependability, flexibility, teamwork, leadership, safety, appearance, conduct, participation, attitude & respect towards others and how well they interact with others. Documentation will be kept on individuals & families that receive our services.
