Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Human Service Organizations, Human Services

Mission: Nu Creation Outreach is a non-profit organization that operates Youth Centers & Food Pantries, in Urban and economically challenged communities in Oakland and Bakersfield California. Our programs main focus is to decrease the violence and crime, while increasing the unity; education and prosperity by operating (free to the public) Youth Centers and Food Pantries. Our centers are a safe haven provided to disadvantage youth to reach their full potential by providing them high quality after school tutoring, outdoor-indoor activities, mentoring as well as counseling. There are three intertwined issues that have our attention, and we believe can be addressed in our Youth Centers & Food Pantries: (1) The current education level in which not enough youth are meeting the state level requirements. (2) The criminal violence level that has recently claimed the lives of 3 young boys. (3) The need to assist poverty in an economically challenged economy.

Response to rricopena...NU CREATIONS IS NOT A SCAM! ONE SHOULD SPEND TIME DOING MORE RESEARCH RATHER THAN HEARING SOMETHING AND 100% BELIEVING IT. NONE OF WHAT WAS AIRED WAS EVER PROVEN AND THAT IS WHY IT REMAINS AN ASSUMPTION, THE MAJORITY OF OUR FUNDRAISERS ARE UNPAID VOLUNTEERS DOING COMMUNITY SERVICE WHILE OTHERS ARE PAID WAGES FROM $8-$10/HR AND ARE HIRED FROM THE EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT IN ORDER TO HELP STIMULATE ECONOMICAL GROWTH IN CALIFORNIA. INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER FOR THE CBS NEWS BAKERSFIELD, CAROL FERGUSON IS A FACADE; ON THE BIG CORPORATIONS (TARGET, WALMART) PAYROLL TRYING TO MINIMIZE THE VOICES OF SMALL NON-PROFITS AND "MOM & POP" BUSINESSES; HOWEVER, WE DO APPRECIATE YOUR POST, THE NEGATIVE PUBLICITY IS WHAT DRIVES OTHER CITIZENS TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE REAL US!...OUR PROGRAM DIRECTOR DAMONE DANIEL QUOTES IT BEST, "IN ORDER TO BECOME FAMOUS, YOU MUST FIRST BECOME INFAMOUS!"

This charity is a scam. They allow the "volunteers" to keep 50% of the donation boxes! This is outrageous. That's 50% of donated money off the top, before the actual charity takes it's money for overhead and administration. There must be only a tiny fraction going to the homeless, if anything. Check out this Bakersfield CBS TV stations stories about this sham charity: http://search.bakersfieldnow.com/default.aspx?ct=r&q=%22Nu+Creations%22

to respond to Jonnyq102, Nu Creation Outreach is a legal non-profit org. that do great things for our state. Please review entire web site before siding with the media www.nucreationsoutreach.org. How can anyone give an organization 3 stars when the have questions about the organization, have no direct experience with the organization, and the organization has not financials or IRS 990s on file.

This is why I say there seems to be little critical thinking on this side of the Mississippi River...

I have encountered and donated twice to this organization in Marin, CA - once outside Mollie Stones and another outside Best Buy. Afterwards, I've read several local reviews that raise a question about the official status of this group (see http://www.marinij.com/sananselmo/ci_18880503). Their representatives were pleasant and I assume they are doing good, but all of the buzz about this group makes me wonder why. I see they are registered here as a P20 Human Services Organization, but am not sure if that is the same as a registered charity, or if they have to submit any financial records to verify where and how donated money is spent.

I would love to know if they really are helping people and that the folks in charge are legit.
