It has been a pleasure gaining valuable nonprofit experience at NOVA Scripts as a pharmacy intern. It is an incredible feeling knowing that I am part of an organization that supports medication access and health literacy for vulnerable populations in the Northern VA area. Through direct Socratic style teaching from Dr. John, alongside the dedicated staff that work with the highest work ethic to deliver preventative health and health maintenance curriculum in multiple languages, I have been able to participate in one of the most valuable healthcare safety nets in the Northern VA area.

I'm currently on rotation at NOVA Scripts Central, and it has been an incredibly enriching experience. I cannot emphasize enough the profound impact this organization has on the community, especially in serving underserved patients. The array of clinics they offer, from Suboxone to vaccination services, demonstrates their commitment to addressing diverse healthcare needs.
What sets NOVA Scripts Central apart is their dedication to providing essential medical services and their emphasis on education and community outreach. The weekly educational sessions they host are invaluable, not just for patients but for anyone seeking to understand healthcare better. It's a testament to their holistic approach to healthcare delivery. Overall, my time at NOVA Scripts Central has been nothing short of exceptional. I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such meaningful work and to learn from a team so committed to making a difference in the community.

Something I learned in the Diabetes program NSC offers, is to value my health and that of my family more.
I felt motivated and with my motivation I helped my family and they followed my example. They all lost weight and learned to eat in proper portions and know the importance of reading labels. And above all we leave everything sweet that is not natural.
This program helped me and my family a lot. My husband lost 20 pounds, my oldest son 49 pounds, my youngest son 35 pounds and I lost 25 pounds, we are very happy.

NOVAscripts does the work of 4 non-profits. Their progressive approach to finding solutions for a variety of populations works to answer the needs of the community, not tell the community what they need. They are a group of professional, hands-on, people that truly care about those in the community. I have grown up in Northern Virginia my whole life and have not participated in such a well run non-profit until I was able to work with NOVAscripts. I am a nursing student in my final semester and I think NOVAscripts is coming up with realistic, attainable solutions, just the same as the "patinet-centered" care I am taught to preform in the hospital, but on the preventative side of healthcare. They are open to feedback, well- informed and dedicated to their community. I am proud to have worked here and to have learned from such skilled and thoughtful members of my hometown.

I have completed my APPE rotation at NovaScripts Central and was amazed by its staff collaboration and willingness to do what is best to serve the community and to increase access to care through an affordable cost of medications to underserved people. In addition, the NSC team is always raising awareness on healthcare-related issues such as vaccine prevention, skin care, pain management, and so on... which I think are very beneficial for patients and healthcare professionals. The teamwork there is remarkable and is probably one of the reasons why the are so successful in what the do.

NOVA Scripts mission to help uninsured people makes a big difference in their lives.
They also offer health education for patient that wants to know about their illness and medications. It's a big help.

I was a volunteer at NOVA ScriptsCentral and I have had one of the best experiences, the people who work there are the most committed to helping the community, their education program is amazing and everyone should know about it, they are more than organization, they are a family, I'll give them more than 5 stars if I could.

I interned at NOVA ScriptsCentral and would rate it more than 5 stars if I could. I learned a lot during my time there and couldn't be better prepared for the workforce after my internship. The team is very professional and friendly. They educate communities on improving their health and put a lot of effort into their work and presentations. Donney John is very knowledgeable and understanding, he was the best mentor I could ask for. Working there was an amazing experience!

NOVA Scripts Central has helped many patients and the general public! They not only hand out life-saving medications to the uninsured of NOVA but they also hold monthly workshops and classes on diabetes, asthma, diet/nutrition and how to improve your health! I definitely recommend this pharmacy to the ones that need help. Just get with one of their partner clinics and they can help improve your health or at least help you understand your ailment(s) and get your medications to you at an affordable cost!

Volunteered here for 5 weeks as part of my pharmacy school program, it was an honor to experience all the different programs NOVA ScriptsCentral provides to the community. I had the pleasure to witness their COVID and Pediatric clinics, create infographics to help educate the community on COVID-related information, and also participate in their methadone clinic counseling. This nonprofit is going above and beyond to provide services not just to the needy but also expanding its level of care to benefit all forms of ethnicities and religions.

NOVA ScriptsCentral is an incredible non-profit clinic providing life-saving medications to the Northern Virginia region. Each employee truly has the patients' best interest at the center of everything they do. They are saving lives by providing medications to patients with chronic conditions, who would otherwise not be able to afford these options. They not only provide medications to local clinics, but also participate in hands-on community outreach. This includes vaccination clinics, medication counseling, and involvement in local healthcare events. NSC is a huge asset to the uninsured patients being served in Northern Virginia.

Having an organization with this mission focus in our community is wonderful. My direct experience with Nova Scripts and their team comes from the Covid-19 vaccine. Their dedicated team allowed myself and my elderly parents to receive the vaccine in an environment that was far more accessible and overall easier than the available options at the time.

The staffs would go above and beyond to make sure I receive my medications on time and ensure that I can afford the medication. Keep up the good works.

Nova ScriptsCentral provides great care for those low-income uninsured patients throughout the Northern Virginia community. I had a pleasure of having one of my pharmacy rotations at this company and it gave me a lot of insight of how much more pharmacists can play a role in facilitating better care in the community.

This wonderful NGO provides our pediatric clinic, in which 10% of our patients are uninsured, much needed access to prescriptions, that without NovaScripts, most of our families would be unable to afford. This assistance can be basic like simple asthma medications, which asthmatic patients need to control their asthma and prevent flare ups and hospitalizations. It can also be more complicated like seizures medications for special needs patients to help control their seizures. The ability to provide prescriptions to help manage chronic conditions is invaluabe and Novascripts lets me as a pediatrician provide better quality of care for my patients, which they deserve, regardless of insurance status.

I was unable to find a job as a pharmacist but I also wanted to play an active role by providing clinical services to support the community and I found Nova Scripts Central Pharmacy. I got to learn a lot and met wonderful people. That was pretty amazing experience as in this pharmacy everyone is supportive of each other.

NOVA ScriptsCentral is one of the most creative and innovative nonprofits that I know.

NOVA Scripts knows how to connect with the community. As a nonprofit pharmacy, it not only partners with clinics, but also a wide range of other organizations - including school districts, local government, correctional facilities, food banks, and affordable housing programs.

Over the past three years, they've launched THREE ongoing programs: (1) PAVE, a K-12 immunization program held in partnership w/ George Mason University's MAP Clinic and Fairfax County Public Schools; (2) The MAT Mobile Clinic, an addiction recovery program for formerly incarcerated people, held in partnership w/ GMU, the local health department, and a local correctional facility; and (3) You Are What You Eat, a health literacy program held in partnership with local food banks and a regional affordable housing agency (Wesley House).

I'm truly impressed by NOVA Scripts' growth & its ability to impact people from all walks of life. I'm so excited to see how NOVA Scripts continues to grow over the coming years!

Nova Scripts Central has gone above and beyond to serve their community. Not only do they focus on giving their patients affordable medication, but they also focus on education. I am very grateful for all of their staff. Wesley Housing has been working with NSC for more than a year. The organization provides health and nutrition workshops to our low-income residents through the region. The content has been very well received by our residents, and their entire team has been wonderful to work with.

I came to their diabetes class and I learned and asked questions and I liked that they interpreted in my language.

I've been attending their monthly diabetes classes for 1 and 1/2 years. I've lost 36 pounds and feel so much better! My A1C has dropped from the 8 range to the 6 range and I am managing my diabetes much easier. I'm much more knowledgeable about how to manage my food intake and I would definitely recommend their class to both diabetics and non-diabetics. The presenters have been great, they're very personable, friendly, and knowledgeable about the subject.

I was a pharmacy student doing a public health rotation at NOVA Scripts Central under Dr. Donney John. My experience at NOVA Scripts was fantastic and I really learned a lot from Dr. John as well as from the team. One of the big things I noticed was how connected everyone was there; it is literally like a small family. Everyone at NOVA Scripts spoke and treated me with respect; I felt like I was truly a part of the team. (I remember one of the staff gave out little, personalized Valentine's cards/treats; I thought she was going to skip over me--since I was new there--but she didn't; these are the little things that really stood out to me).

More importantly, the work they do there is amazing. Everyone works so hard to make sure that they are doing the best to impact underserved populations for the better. I especially loved one of the events they hosted: teaching elementary and middle school aged children the importance of eating healthy and exercising. The kids absolutely loved this and were really engaged with the speaker. There were many other things but this review is getting a bit long.

It seems like everyone at NOVA ScriptsCentral really loves what they do and they, without a doubt, deserve the Great NonProfits Top Rated Award. I hope that this review just says a little about what they are doing and the substantial impact they are making in the DC MD VA area.

NovaScripts is an extraordinary resource for this area. I have worked with many of the NovaScripts clinics that have access to their pharmacy services. They supply medications to the most vulnerable and are an important link while doing this. The education and knowledge that they share is the extra piece that makes them so valuable. I came across NOVA Scripts a couple months back for a PAVE Clinic. The staff was super friendly and answered several of my questions in regards to the vaccinations. The the service they provide to the public is invaluable. It's so sad that many families forgo the basic shots because they are misinformed. NOVA Scripts are the "boots on the ground" that is helping remove the stigma of vaccination.

Interning at NOVAScripts was one of the best decisions I have made. During my time there, I was able to attend public health seminars as well as meet many people who aided and directed me in the field. I met the great staff at NOVAScripts and also learned to create items that would be informative to people representing different communities that made sense for all. Nova Scripts Central (NSC) entire workforce plays a pivotal role in addressing issues emerging from the nexus of escalating health care cost and health inequity by pragmatically increasing the role and involvement of a pharmacist in developing health education policies and programs that address the needs of disenfranchised/uninsured population they choose to serve. Nova Scripts Central leadership and team provides a platform for volunteers and also equip graduate interns like me to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively disseminate relevant public health knowledge, to create awareness about healthy-living, to develop disease prevention and immunization programs that cater to all ages in the communities it chooses to serve.
A case in the type of my involvement as a Pharmacist and Graduate Intern is the PAVE (Providing Access to Vaccine for Everyone) initiative. I am proud to be a part of the initiative that boasts of continued success in closing the immunization gap for school-age children by providing access to vaccine via a centralized & partnership-based immunization program. The initiative or centralized immunization program is designed to eliminate barriers in enrolling children promptly, by providing access to vaccines needed for school entrance to the uninsured population in Virginia. The initiative recognizes that timely enrollment into school systems provides the much needed educational support to students and their families and also recognizes that poor academic outcomes are often linked to poor health status.
On the overall, NSC epitomizes an organization that is favorably positioned to provide solutions to the escalating and unproductive health care burden on the economy and offers a broader horizon in alleviating health inequalities because of the varying resources and their involvement in various structural and social conditions needed for good health.

The presentation in “Educate Before You Medicate” offered at the 2018 FCPS Mental Health And Wellness Conference was extremely informative and enlightening. I always ask myself why medicine label instructions tell you to specifically use the measuring device that comes with the medicine. In this session I learned how important it is to use that measuring device as well as the repercussions of doing otherwise. I hope to see more presentations like this in the near future. I would definitely like to attend and recommend them.

NOVA Scripts Central is by far one of the most involved nonprofit I have ever came across. Every member of their team genuinely care about their patients, they do their best to teach our community. I am excited to see more of them and to see them expand their services to many more low-profit families in Northern Virginia.

I had a very successful experience working as a student intern at NOVA ScriptsCentral this past summer. Not only did I learn so much about this pharmacy, but I was able to connect with the most amazing co-workers there that were like mentors to me. I was involved with educating the community and helping on the pharmacy side of NOVA ScriptsCentral. I was able to help with pulling medications, shipping, attending immunization clinics and logging in expired medications on excel. This experience at NOVA ScriptsCentral was very helpful to me in my path to pursuing a career in the medical/healthcare field. I know that in the future I will definitely be volunteering at this amazing nonprofit organization!

This organization is such a special place. Dedicated staff. Great community partner. Every day this expert team works to make sure that folks with chronic disease have the medications and the knowledge they need to stay healthy. For example, if you are uninsured and have diabetes or high blood pressure, you have the medications needed to reach the heath goals that prevent complications. Wow! Life changing.

Being a low income American, my experience of customer service was exceptional. They treated me like royalty and addressed all my concerns with patience and humility. I'm ecstatic that they exist and constantly recommending my social network to them.

I can't sing their praises enough. Working as a PCP for uninsured patients with chronic medical conditions is challenging on many fronts, but a huge struggle is securing affordable medication to maintain health. NOVA Scripts central handles this task for my patients seamlessly. The staff is personable, hard working and always available to assist if I call for help. Administratively they are on point-organized and accountable. The pharmacy staff are incredibly knowledgeable and are always ready to help me figure out dosing or other medication specific issue (interactions, formulary changes, etc). NOVA ScriptsCentral is an organization like no other - with a focus on providing the resources needed to a vastly under-served population, while simultaneously building a pathway to lasting health through pharmaceutical education and best practices. While the organization is small, its impact is mighty - serving communities throughout Virginia that would otherwise be left untouched. Kudos to NOVA ScriptCentral, its staff, and wonderful Executive Director for all the outstanding work they do every day - it is a resource that cannot be replaced!

NSC is a centralized pharmacy that fills prescriptions for the underserved populations in our communities. Supporting safety net health clinics and similar settings, the staff of NSC assure appropriate pharmaceutical care is available for those who previously could not afford their prescription medications. As we know, medication adherence is critical to achieving optimal health for those with common chronic conditions such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, and asthma. When patients are not able to obtain their prescriptions due to high costs, everyone suffers. I am proud to have been involved with NSC for several years, watching the success of the organization lead to more and more patients being able to get their necessary medications.

I volunteered with Nova Scripts last year through a day of service project and their dedication and passion to serve the community through pharmaceutical work has elements rare to find in any organization from public, to private, to other non-profits. They deserve commendation for the work they do each and every day to the highest caliber. It was an honor working with this non-profit.

My organization has been working with Novascipts Central for several years now. They have provided our clinic with thousands of dollars worth of medications for just a $5 dispensing fee per prescription. Due to all their hard work, hundreds of our patients (some that are homeless, unemployed or unable to work due to a health condition) have been able to access maintenance medications that have kept them out of the emergency room. Also, their eligibility process is easy and streamlined and the staff is always willing to help if you contact them.

My name is Cathy Gallagher, MSN, FNP-BC, BC-ADM and I work at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center on a mobile clinic for people without health insurance and are at 200% of the poverty level. We care for many people with chronic medical conditions such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, diabetes, asthma, and so much more. Many of these patients are on multiple medications and have to decide if they should buy food or medications. Although Walmart and other pharmacies have a $4 program, the formularies are limited. NOVA scripts has been WONDERFUL in assisting us at getting medications, including patient assistance medications, which is a terribly tedious process. We help keep our patients out of the emergency room and maintain good health when they can get and take their medications. The people at NOVA scripts work hard at getting the best medication at the best price for our patients. We are blessed to have them.

This place does great work and they help people receive medications at a great low price. The people that work at this company have an interest in helping people who need all the help they can get. They put all the effort in getting the care and medications for the patients that need it most.

The people working for this organization are very committed to helping others and want to ensure they expand their knowledge to the general public. They want to be active in the community, educate the public, and connect them to any resources they need in their local community. They have lots of goals and ambitions with high motives and are passionate about what they do as a team.

I had the experience of volunteering for this organization. While there, I got to participate in the teaching for local communities and the participants were not only grateful for our lectures but also responded quite positively.

We have worked with NOVA ScriptsCentral for many years. Without their continuing aid we would be unable to have as robust a pharmacy program for our patients. Many of the drugs they provide we and our patients are unable to afford. Through the access, our partnership provides we are seeing much of population with chronic illnesses better manage and treat their diseases successfully.
