NEVER TAKE YOUR PRECIOUS PETS TO THESE BUTCHERS. THEY MAIM ANIMALS and possibly murder. My dog would have died as a result of their inexperienced vets had I listened to their horrible advice. My dog was neutered there Thursday 11/06/2014 and the swelling had not went down a week later it was getting worse. I called them and took him in for a recheck. They gave me an antibiotic (14 day) and what they said was an anti-inflammatory (but I later was told by a real vet that it was a pain pill) and told me to bring him back five days later for a recheck. I luckily took my dog to a real vet because I did not think just these pills for 14 days would help. Turns out he needed surgery immediately, the real vet said in his 40 years of being a vet he had never seen anything like it and whoever performed the surgery did not know what they were doing. He removed three cups of puss from my dog and says he will need to keep him and keep a drain in for at least four more days, he will need powerful antibiotic, etc. to get him through this and he thinks he will make it because he has absolutely no other health problems. No way would the medications Northwest Spay and Neuter gave him have helped and had I left him untreated any longer (as they told me to) he would have died. Also, the real vet’s fees came to nearly one thousand dollars to fix what they had botched. They are supposedly doing low cost spay and neuter to help animals and people without funds. However, as you can see they have cost me a lot and almost cost my dog his life. NEVER TAKE YOUR PRECIOUS PETS TO THESE BUTCHERS.

I know this charity as Coalition Humane. They are an awesome group of people. They have the best prices on spay/neuter for cats and dogs and they have specials for feral cats. I have taken 3 cats to them, one pet and 2 ferals. They do excellent work, tell you about any problems before they do anything out of the initial scope of the surgery, and are very efficient. You take your cat or dog in at 8:30 one day and pick it up at 7:30 the next day. It is a wonderful place with super nice people.

We hear your frustration and disappointment, and are sorry your experience with NWSNC did not meet your expectations. I would like to clarify several points you raised in your review. Every client goes home with detailed aftercare instructions and we are happy to answer questions about post-operative care for pets; it is vital that owners do their best to follow these instructions. Restricting exercise and making sure the dog is wearing an e-collar if recommended can prevent many problems, but clients are always welcome to call us with questions and bring in their pets for re-checks if there are any concerns. If problems arise outside our re-check hours, we maintain a list of re-check veterinarians who will see our patients at reduced or waived fees for post-op issues. Complications can arise after any surgical procedure, in humans or in animals. In Boston’s case, when issues arose, our veterinarians made clear recommendations and prescribed appropriate medications. We sent you home with an antibiotic (cephalexin) and an anti-inflammatory (Rimadyl). Rimadyl is approved for pain relief as well as to reduce inflammation. We recommended that your pet come back for another recheck if his situation didn’t improve within a set period of time. Since you felt you needed to take your pet to a full-service veterinarian for additional care before that time was up, it would only be to your dog’s benefit to allow us to communicate with the veterinarian who saw Boston. Unfortunately, when you called us on 11/15, we asked for records and you refused to release the name of the veterinarian. We stand by our treatment protocol. Our veterinarians are experienced in spay and neuter, performing thousands of surgeries every year with excellent results and low rates of complications. We are grateful for the opportunity to care for dogs, cats, and rabbits in our community.
