Mission: Part iii, line 1since 1979, nova, inc. Has created a culture of caring providing vitalassistance to maricopa county residents suffering from substanceabuse, homelessness and emotional/mental illness. Novas clientsbenefit from both residential and outpatient programs, treatment for mental disorders and addiction, guidance from professional counselorsin overcoming psychological and emotional issues, alleviation ofhomelessness and assistance in combating any combination of theseissues. During 2014, nova worked to improve the lives of more than3,000 maricopa county residents.
Programs: Form 990, part iii, line 4a, program service accomplishments:novas outpatient program provides specialized services to clients tomeet their individual needs which promote healing and lasting recovery. Services include individual and group counseling as well as anintensive substance abuse recovery program. Individual and groupcounseling provides clients with support and tools that they need toaddress anxiety, depression, trauma and other issues in order toimprove the quality of their life and day-to-day functioning. Novaoffers a 36-hour intensive substance abuse outpatient program as wellas a 72-hour intensive program. Both program assist clients indeveloping the necessary skills to abstain from alcohol and otherdrugs. The program also provides education and support services tofamily members and significant others in order to stabilize the family unit and effectively integrate the individual into a supportive,community-based recovery environment. Professional provide assistance,support and education at three valley clinics to behavioral healthrecipients with dual disorders. Services include providing educationon substance abuse recovery, mental health symptoms and ways to helprecipients develop the skills necessary to improve daily life. Crisistransition navigators assist individuals after a crisis situation. Following a crisis, individuals are referred to providers countrywide,including nova, to receive services from a peer who is knowledgeableabout community resources and has firsthand experience regardingtriumphing over similar challenges. They are then guided to theprograms and services they need. Board certified psychiatric mentalhealth nurse practitioners at nova provide psychiatric evaluations andongoing med management services.
maverick house is a 29-bed residential substance abuse treatment centeroffering men and women a comprehensive program featuring an unsurpassedlevel of care and substance abuse education, coupled with posttreatment aftercare. Treatment services are offered to chemicallydependent men and women, pregnant women, as well as dually diagnosed individuals.
form 990, part iii, line 4c, program service accomplishments:seriously mentally ill men and women-many also facing substance abuseissues-represent a significant portion of metropolitan phoenixshomeless population. Novas safe haven seeks to provide assistance tothese individuals who have been unwilling or unable to participate inother supportive services, assisting them toward stability andindependence. The nova safe haven residential program houses 25 people(18 men and seven women). Another 25 individuals are engaged in theday services program. Both the residential and day programs engageindividuals and prepare them to achieve the goals of increasedsufficiency, stability and greater self-determination-all of which willlead to permanent housing. In addition to shelter, nova safe havenprovides its clients with case management, nutrition education,community meetings, the availability of aa and na as well as providingindependent living skills.
