I had an emergency need for Rental Assistance to avoid eviction after I received an eviction notice.

I immediately followed up with my contact at NAM, Ms. Karen Luther to notify her of my predicament, facing homelessness! She responded and reassured me not to worry as NAM would help!

True to her word, within days of me reaching out to Ms. Karen Luther at NAM, she kept her wird! I picked up the rental assistance check from NAM within a week, to avoid eviction proceedings!

God is faithful and He sent help, expeditiously and expertly through Ms. Karen Luther of NAM!

Thank you, NAM and Ms. Karen Luther!

I just want to say I thank God for NAM, I live in LA and my brother lives in Houston he had a Stroke on May 27th and he lives alone in Houston, He was found in his home by a friend and I thank God everyday for that after getting him the medical care he needed I we had to focus on him not losing his place I didn't know were to turn or how to began so I started searching for help for his rent and bills I found NAM and called and was told to call another number and leave a message and someone would get back with me. I did that and I did receive a call maybe two days later from a Karen L. she told me everything I would need to get to her in order to see if my brother could receive help, I did what she requested and sent the information and she thanked me for sending it to her and said she will began working his case and get back to me. And if I tell you she got back to me and not only did my brother receive help form NAM Ms. Karen L. personally delivered the check to my brothers renter office to pay his rent . All I can say is GOD is so good and Thank you NAM not knowing if he would have a place to live after his ordeal was one less thing we had to face.

I have been dealing with (NAM) Northwest Assistance Ministries for over 10 years now.
The (action) of ministering to someone...not the (act) of, definitely describes this organization of true angels. In all, not influenced by racial prejudice, is a true statement!!
I came to Harris County in 2007 with my two grandsons ages then were 7 and 3, not just as their grandmother, but guardian also. We lived in a shelter for months, where we met a caseworker that I know God placed in our lives.
Our caseworker contacted NAM Housing Assistance Program. I wasn't sure that I would qualify but, GOD saw things so differently.
Well, as I said earlier it's been awhile now and all the NAM Angels are still assisting not only my family, but so very many others. Yet, with no displays of judgement or prejudice, just an open heart.
I will say that NAM has been nothing to us but a blessing in so many, many ways. There were so many times when my SNAP benefits just did not last a month, but through their Grocery Ministry we made it.
I receive SSI, but after paying all major and necessary bill; there were times I just could not make my income stretch toward my utilities...BUT the angels came through again.
I have had a total of three case workers since I have been a part of this program. My first caseworker is still with the company, the second one is deceased, but the one I have now is just AWESOME!!
It really feels great to know that there are still people in this cruel world who actually care.
Through all of my classes and counseling I will say, I am a much stronger than I once was. I know now that I can achieve whatever I put my mind to...as long as I believe.
"A shovel a day...makes the way to building your dream!'
My grandsons and myself are ever so grateful for NAM and all of it's earth angels who shine upon the darkness in one's life to bring out their TRUE LIGHT!!

This organization saved me and my family when we were homeless with no place to go. I will never forget the kindness and generosity of the staff and volunteers at NAM. If you are looking for an organization to donate to or to volunteer for, I'd say go to NAM! They are heaven sent!

I've been an independent consultant/grant writer for Northwest Assistance Ministries for over 10 years and have seen only the highest professionalism and integrity exhibited by their staff and administration. Their website has links available to view their board members, their 990s, and their annual reports. There have been no findings in their annual audits for several years. Charity Navigator's misunderstanding of FASB 116 has been a detriment to Northwest Assistance Ministries' rating and a disservice to a fine organization which brings so much to the community.

Having known this organization for many years I find the rating of Northwest Assistance Ministries very misleading. I understand this rating was formulated based on some of the following comments. Not having independent audited statements. This is completely wrong as this organization has had yearly independent audits for as long as I can remember. Secondly the staff and board supposedly not listed on their website, which they are and have always been. No access to Form 990 on the website, however there is a link on the website which is very visible to access the 990. Finally the comments about program spendig in excess of available funding. Because of FASB116, an accounting rule that says an organization like NAM that receives a 3 Year Grant for a specific program has to recognize the entire three year grant when awarded even though we don't receive the 2nd and 3rd year money until the 2nd and 3rd year, however the spending side goes on for three years and so the first year we look really flush, the 2nd and 3rd year we look bad.
This is a great organization and helps so many ways in our community. If you are looking for a charity to support this organization truly would like you to join the many other contributors that love and support NAM
