Excellent nonprofit!!! My daughter and I are volunteers for Northport Cat Rescue for over 2 months now. We are fostering 2 amazing cats that needed some extra love and attention. They were so very shy at first, they had been through so much. Now they are learning to trust and relax and have some fun. I have never met anyone so dedicated to the welfare and well being of cats as Lora and Seher from Northport Cat Rescue. They are so very careful as to where these kitties are homed. They are so in touch with the emotional/psychological state of their cats. One of our foster cats had depression and they acted immediately, knowing exactly what to do and now the cat is thriving like never before. Communication is exceptional, Lora or Seher always answer my questions within minutes no matter how trivial. Northport Cat Rescue goes above and beyond for their cats and I would highly recommend them.
Great experience from start to finish. Sahir was a pleasure to talk to. She answered all my questions about the adoption process. My previous cats were born in my home from a stray we cared for so adoption was a new experience for me. It was very easy. Diane called my references and checked out all the aspects asked for on the application. Personal references, veterinarian and apartment pet policy. I highly recommend NPCA and would gladly adopt more cats from them right now. I got two brothers and they are well mannered and healthy. Adjusting well.
This nonprofit rescue is amazing..I am in awe of the selfless work they do for cats. They are responsible for rehoming many unwanted or dumped cats in our area of Northport & the surrounding communities. They advocate for all the animals that have had a rough start in life & give them a second chance. I adopted my Opie from there & he is so lovable..I believe a lot of the fosters make this possible because they are involved in the socialization process day in & day out. This is my cat from Northport Cat Rescue Association living the dream thanks to them.
Meet Wilson, now 7 months old, watching me as I write this story. It had been 2 1/2 years since our last cat, Moose, passed away. Now it was time to bring another feline into our lives; however, the 2020 pandemic made it difficult to connect with places where a kitten might be available to adopt. After much time deciding on the particulars of a kitten we would want, Northport Cat Rescue Association (NCRA) ended up being the perfect place to adopt as it was obvious that all of the volunteers provided the needed love, extra attention and special care for each and every rescued cat. NCRA staff volunteers Seher and Diane communicated with us through the entire adoption process. When it was time to pick up Wilson, all of the important adoption and medical care documents were provided and thoroughly reviewed to us by Seher. Thank you to all of the NCRA volunteers for their dedication as we truly appreciated their support and safety measures especially during these challenging times. Wilson has adapted well in his new home with us-- he is loving and playful, happy and healthy, and loves his sidekick, Cooper, our dog!
Thank you to Northport Cat Rescue for bring our little Alexis Rose into our lives!! They were with us all the way through a tricky adoption - she was diagnosed with ringworm right before we were going to take her home. Through their amazing care, they cleared her condition and she was welcomed into our home. Our older cat, Odin, isn't so sure yet, but he's coming around. She certainly likes him :) Alexis Rose (formerly Croissant), is a beautiful, long-haired pastel tortie. She is a bit shy, but she shows her affection at feeding time :). Thank you again for bringing her into our lives!
Northport rescue is a wonderful rescue group. I volunteer on Saturdays. I have seen alot of cats get their furever homes. They also take wonderful care of them while waiting for their furever homes. Please concider Northport Rescue if you are thinking of adopting a cat.
They will be very grateful you did.
My son and I started volunteering with Northport Cat Rescue about 6 months ago. I called about a two kittens and a mom born under my deck. They we’re here within a few hours with traps set and trapped with in a day. They were spayed, neutered, and given all there shots.
We adopted the two kittens and we take care of the mom outside. The dedication, care, and love they have for these animals is amazing! We love volunteering and being part of it.
This is a really wonderful organization led by people who truly care about the feral and stray cats in our town! When my Mom had a situation with a cat who showed up with a jar stuck on its head, she reached out to Npt Cat Rescue and was contacted, coached, supported, and updated by its helpful members. Seher was compassionate and reassuring and gave her time selflessly, setting traps and checking them regularly and checking in with my Mom. The cat was ultimately trapped on her property and taken for veterinary attention. I would absolutely recommend this rescue, knowing it is an operation where every life is treated with respect and patience!
Amazing nonprofit! I’ve been volunteering with them for almost 2 months now and I love being a part of it and will continue to do so! Everyone that’s involved, all really care about the animals and we all give them so much love and care! Eventually, I would love to foster for them as well! In Petco, we see the cats multiple times a day, and we are all sharing our experiences with each other and make sure they are all healthy and feeing loved! I would definitely recommend adopting from them!
We have had the pleasure of adopting from the Northport Cat rescue on three separate occasions. The first time was in 2014 when we came across the sweetest cat at Doggie Don’s while picking up food for our puppy. Penelope came home with us and the adoption process was smooth and all vetting took place in a timely fashion. Penelope was a wonderful member of our family and was there when we brought our son home from the hospital and was so good with him as he got older. My son loved her tremendously. Over the years she fell sick but we took care of all of her medical needs for a few years until she became too ill.
When we felt it was once again time to add to our family I knew just where to look - NCRA. We were first introduced to French Toast (Frenchie) in her foster home where I met and fell in love with her. Even though we were in the midst of a pandemic NCRA made sure I could safely meet the kitten we were adopt to adopt. We brought Frenchie home once she was ready all the while keeping in touch with our foster and NCRA. A few days after Frenchie came home I saw her sister Pancake was going to be at Petco in Commack and just knew I needed to reunite the siblings to live out their lives together. We met her that day and brought her home the next. Both kittens are happy and healthy and well socialized and have made a great addition to our home. They’ve even gotten our grumpy (but well lived) male cat to come out of his shell and play with them!
We are thankful for all the NCRA has done for our family and all the kittens and cats they have found loving homes for. They are amazing and so easy to work with. You will not be disappointed.
I volunteer with this organization since it’s inception. Northport Cat Rescue Association has been an asset to the community, helping abused and abandoned cats and kittens find fur-ever homes. They are always ready and willing to help, even during a pandemic! If you are looking for a 501 c 3 not for profit organization to help continue it’s great work, check out the northportcatrescue.org web site and make a donation! 100% goes to helping the animals!
Northport cat rescue association has been wonderful to me !! A few years back I adopted two beautiful cats not only were the cats perfect for my home but they helped me quite a few times with my feral cats, when they were either ill or just in need of catching for treatment. I can’t speak highly enough about Don and his volunteers and the care they take with their cats i’ve seen them feeding vetting rescuing and loving up Many cats. All I can say is we need more rescues like this❤️ The best!!!
The best non profit around! I have been volunteering here for several years with my mom, and it has been a great pleasure volunteering for Northport Cat Rescue Association. Everyone is caring and the cats are always well taken care of, and also very fun to play with. Adopting a furry friend from here is guaranteed to be a great addition to your family.
I volunteer for The rescue at Petco Commack . The cats and kittens are very well cared for with 3 shifts a day to attend to their needs and so they can socialize with people and the other cats . They are brushed and played with and given love Until these beautiful lives are carefully placed in their forever homes with carefully selected families . please donate if you can it’s a great rescue to support .
I have adopted both of my cats from NCRA and both adoptions were wonderful experiences. Northport has such a dedicated group of volunteers that truly ensures the best life for each and every cat. My first cat, Ruby, was left on the counter of a pet store at just a few weeks old. Northport took the poor thing in and made sure she was in perfect health before I welcomed her home. My second cat, Sweet Pea, was believed to be feral when she was also left at a pet store. Northport gave this sweet baby such a wonderful opportunity after planning on spaying her and returning her, they discovered she was more appropriate for a home and worked through her shyness. I will be forever grateful to them for what they have done for me and my babies, but also what they do for the community and the cats within it. Rescue work is so demanding and can be very difficult at times, but Northport has been serving this community for a long time and I truly hope they will for a long time to come.
What a great organization to have in our little town!
We adopted our cats Sushi and Oswald Cobblepot from Northport Cat Rescue. Sushi was found on the street as a kitten and Oswald was rescued from a home where he was neglected.
We couldn’t imagine our lives without these sweet kitties who give us so much joy everyday.
We adopted Shadow 2 years ago. The NCRA team was so helpful and assisted us with every question that we had. We introduced Shadow to our home with a cat already living with us. The NCRA gave us advice on how to make the transition smooth...and it worked!!! Every aspect of the adoption, from the vetting to the volunteers, was A+. Thank you for bringing such joy to our lives.
Phenomenal!! This word best describes Northport Cat Rescue. In March, 2019 My daughter had the pleasure of finding my Angelica through this organization. She was being cared for by a foster Mom, Lora who worked tirelessly to help her to come out of her shell. Angelica had a rough start in life and was very scared. My daughter set up a time for us to meet her and after a little interaction I knew she was mine. The rescue was very careful who they were giving this baby to, which is so important. Lora is so kind and caring. Even now she keeps in touch to know how Angelica and I are doing. Northport Cat Rescue helps so many animals in need. If you want to get a cat this is the place to go.
I am a volunteer at Northport Cat Rescue for over a month now and have been able to give back what they have done for me . I have seen them get furever homes for cats they have rescued. They are a very caring and loving organazation and have placed their cats in wonderful homes . I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer 2 yrs ago and was unable to keep my 2 babies, but with the help of Northport rescue they are now living in their furever homes. I can no longer have cats now ,so being a volunteer helps me be able to spend time with other cats while waiting to be adopted. If you are thinking about getting a cat or a kitten, please concider adopting through Northport Cat Rescue. You will be very happy you did.
It was very hard to have to give up my 2 cats . I found them as kittens. Northport rescue helped me to know that they would have very happy lives in their new homes. I am very grateful to them.
We adopted our adorable kitty from Northport Cat Rescue. They are a wonderful organization with dedicated hardworking people.
My husband and I are so thrilled that we had the opportunity to rescue an adorable feline from this amazing association. From beginning to end, the adoption process was quite smooth. We became acquainted with a very special foster mom, Lora, with whom we will be eternally grateful. She matched us with the perfect kitten. Our sweet Violet has added so much joy and laughter to our household. We couldn't ask for a better experience and, in the future, we will definitely adopt more fur babies from this very special organization.
I found Northport Cat Rescue after one of my cats died and I decided to adopt a new companion. The staff worked So hard to find the right cat for me. They provided advice on making our relationship the best it can be. They give cats time to adjust and counsel patience as the transition took time but in return my cat Penny found a forever home and gives me endless love! Thank you Northport Cat Rescue for helping me find my beautiful Penny! You guys are awesome!
Foster mom here. I've been working with animals for long time, anywhere from kittens to wildlife. With NCRA, Im able to provide a safe and loving home for a cat or kittens in need of help. NCRA is truly a great rescue to work for. They provide so much assistance to their volunteers that you can't say you didn't know. I feel extremely lucky to be part of this organization. Unfortunately, there are many organizations out there that do not function as well us. Our organization is made up of dedicated volunteers with board members who are diligent and hard working to keep our mission alive.
I have watched my daughter in law care and foster many, many cats over the years for Northport Cat Rescue. I have seen her go out into the woods to trap feral cats. I have witnessed the loving care that she has given these animals, and has saved the life of more than one very sick cat. This is truly the work of the angels. This organization deserves all of the support, financial and otherwise
