Mission: The Northern California Community Loan Fund strengthens the economic base of low-income communities by assisting community-based organizations and enterprises that promote housing, economic development, human services, and models of participatory ownership and management. We build the long-term capacity of these organizations and enterprises by providing access to affordable loan capital and technical assistance. We provide our investors with a reliable mechanism for channeling their capital to effective community development projects. We seek to further social and economic change by increasing public awareness about the impact of investment decisions; by advocating with lenders and other capital sources for making more resources available for community development; and by working with other organizations that share our goals.
Programs: Our loans support nonprofit projects and enterprises that benefit low-income residents or communities throughout the 46 northernmost counties of California. Applicants must demonstrate strong governance, sound fiscal management and feasibility of their proposed project or borrowing need. We try to meet the needs of our borrowers and believe in a personal, flexible approach to lending and a hands-on partnership with every organization.
