When I met Mel and Dorothy Clack in 1996 (founders of YABVI) I had no idea of where to go that I would be accepted as a blind individual and started to lose hope. Since Mel introduced me to what was then called "The Blind Center" I found renewed hope. The Center provided me with the feeling of a 2nd home. Here I took Confident Living Classes, and found people to talk to that truly cared and understood my struggles, and even gave me the feeling that I could do anything that a sighted person could do, just, in different ways. Though YABVI has had its struggles in the past, as has most non-profits, they are still here to help make a difference for the blind and visually impaired that feel at a loss of hope and normal every day living. Thanks to The Blind Center, I now know that I can lead a confident and meaningful life, and, I count!! They also gave me a place to go to that has, fun activities, pot lucks, entertainment, outings, etc. Thanks for giving me my sight back to be able to strive in life as a blind individual!! God Bless You!!
