Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Emergency Assistance, Food, Food Banks & Pantries, Homeless & Housing, Homeless Centers, Human Service Organizations, Human Services

Mission: Allen W. Erickson founded Northwest Montana Veterans? Stand Down. Literally, "stand down" is a military term used to define a period when combat troops were allowed to ?STAND DOWN? from the rigors of constant alert status and the hardships of battle. We seek to give back to our veterans by providing a ?helping hand up? to begin the personal process of regaining self-esteem, hope, and the ability to re-enter the society to which they gave loyally and wholeheartedly, and from which many have withdrawn.

I have been working with the Veterans Stand Down and Food pantry for the past 7 years and have not found an organization so dedicated to help Veterans in the various struggles they face, they help with clothing, food, housing and now that they have opened Camp Ponderosa PTSD and related challenges for Veterans, plus so much more. Allen, Linda and Cinnamon are kind and generous people who have dedicated their lives to the service of those who valiantly served our country. I thank them and admire their dedication.

I have helped at 2 of the Stand Down events and my husband has helped at most or all of the ones put on in our town. This organization is all about the veterans and helping them in whatever way it can. Everyone volunteers. No one makes a profit on any of the activities from this organization. If you are looking for a way to give back and say Thank You to those that have served YOU by their service to our country's military, you couldn't choose a better organization to give your time, money or talent to than this organization.
