Through the North Valley Caring Services, I have been able to give back to my community in many different ways and the most full filling feeling is that I am able to see the positive changes. The kids, the people, the families, and the cultures have all individually taught me something important about life. Whenever I'm not busy with school or other extra curricular activities, I love helping the Breakfast Program, Youth Program, and the Food Pantry. I recently became a Student Representative for this non-profit organization. In less than a month I have practiced public speaking, organizing programs, working with others, and developing leadership skills. I will forever be thankful for everything that this organization does. The faculty and members will always make you feel welcome and you will want to return!

Mission: NVCS’ mission is to empower neighborhood residents to build a vision of their community’s future and to actively engage in solving local problems.
Target demographics: lower income children, families and homeless people.
Geographic areas served: the San Fernando Valley
Programs: A Family Literacy Program – This program provides family education services to low-income families with children ages 0-5. Outreach Services – To help address the extreme poverty and homelessness pervasive in NVCS’ community, NVCS provides a Breakfast Program that serves approximately 13,370 meals annually and a Food Pantry that serves 189 families and distributed 533 grocery bags annually. Youth Program – This Program provides educational, fun, and interactive activities in a safe environment for over 100 at-risk youth, ages 6-18, during after-school and off-track time periods.
