Mission: North side housing and supportive services, inc. Is a charitable organization incorporated in the state of illinois. North side housing and supportive services, inc. Provides housing and supportive services to people who are homeless and with low income in the lakeview community of chicago, illinois. These services include housing programs with case management services and supportive services including a health care program. North side housing and supportive services, inc. Receives significant funding from governmental agencies including the us department of housing and urban development (hud), chicago family and support services, foundations, corporations, civic organizations, congregations, and individuals.
Programs: The organization provides emergency shelter care to indigent individuals that would otherwise be sleeping on the street. The organization serves meals, and allows the homeless to wash themselves and to do their laundry. Health care providers from area hospitals examine individuals who may have certain conditions and may provide some limited medical procedures onsite that may relieve pain and prevent certain conditions from becoming life threatening. Other individuals are sheltered in off site housing, and are monitored by organization personnel to ensure that those individuals are taking their medication, eating, and maintaining basic hygene. Donated clothing is distributed to serve as replacements for garments that have become unserviceable. Donated toiletries are distributed to allow individuals to maintain some hygenic standard.
