Mission: The north georgia angel house is a room, board and watchful oversight provider that provides short and long term care to females ages 11 to 18.
Programs: ) base room, board and watchful oversight is a 15 bed program. In this program children receive daily life skills, scheduled activities, tutoring, educational planning, summer employment, medication management, behavior management, a structured environment, 15 minute safety checks, supervised family time including sibling visits, the ability to participate in curricular activities in the community and other services as deemed necessary for their success.
ii) independent living program (ilp) is a 15 bed program. This program offers employment opportunities for youth to work in the agency owned franchise. This job readiness center is a program within the north georgia angel house, inc. Called foster. Youth learn how to gain and maintain employment through workshops and supervision that results in valuable life skills. The youth are able to make gifts such as jewelry, paintings, wreaths and flower arrangements to earn revenue and begin to build a resume. Payroll is deposited into the youths bank account and financial oversight provided by the life coach who oversees the program. Children contribute to their ida, earn a drivers license, obtain an original birth certificate and social security card prior to leaving care and assistance with routine emancipation skills such as budgeting, meal planning, grocery shopping, routine medical care, obtaining single occupancy housing by their 13th month in the program and a strong support system. Youth live in apartments in the community in this program and receive services from their home will under case management services from the north georgia angel house. These youths are required to work or attend school full time to remain eligible. The youth contributes toward their expenses such as rent and utilities after 12 months in the program. Any contributions made are held in a savings account separate from the agencies to be released with the youth upon exit from care. Iii) teen development program (tlp) is a four bed program that serves females between the ages of 16-18. The purpose of this program is to extend graduated independence for youth who will remain in care until the age of majority and incrementally give them increased freedom and responsibilities. These youths are required to live on the same campus as staff for supervision but not under the same roof. This program allows youth a more normal living experience to include grocery shopping, gradated independence plans that allow youth to participate in events with other youth in the community and other privileges that ordinarily require staff to attend the event to provide supervision. These youths attend public school and participate in individual therapy, medication management and other services provided in the base program with less direct supervision.
