I was alone when I arrived in Oceanside. I knew no one in the area, and being alone is a great fear for anyone and a 100 times worse for a recovering alcoholic. I called the area central office of Alcoholics Anonymous and they referred me to the Oeanside Alano Club for meetings. I met so many welcoming people there and was so lucky to live close enough so I got to go to daily meetings and sometimes multiple daily meetings. The fellowship and unity of these Oceanside members of the Alano Club taught me to give away what I had freely been given when I first arrived in Oceanside, afraid and alone. I now volunteer on a regular basis there and am happy to be of service to other persons trying to maintain their sobriety. If this nonprofit wasn't around where would I be? A God Shot! Gratitude!
