Mission: Founded in 1974 to introduce community people to the medium of half-inch video, NTR continues to bridge the gap between low-income people and the communication technologies they can not afford.
Working closely with the community organizations it serves, NTR envisions the transformation of whole neighborhoods in Philadelphia into havens for technology-based adult learning by distributing tens of thousands of used computers to families and equipping dozens of community-based learning centers with computers.
NTR's programs are based on the observation that, once whetted, the appetite for "computer consumerism" fosters an interest in learning that will help to stimulate neighborhood economies and help children gain access to computers at home.
NTR is a great organization dedicated to helping low income Philadelphia residents with their technology needs. The store is stocked with low cost items and the staff and volunteers are helpful and knowledgeable. They work closely with students to provide a platform for them to learn and get experience they will need to succeed. I would definitely recommend NTR to anyone in the Philadelphia area who has technology needs and wants help understanding and learning more themselves.
