I only know of Gary and his work on Long Island through social media, but I have come to know him as a hard working animal advocate and I applaud this organization.
So many cats & dogs are abadonded due to financial hardship,moving to rentals that dont allow pets. Exuses of allergies, new relationships, babies,or the option to simply abandon a pet outside is an ongoing and beyond cruel reality! pets suffer as peoples lives Change they can "no longer keep them" especially in NY,NJ & PA it seems. Some folks just need help with food,urgent medical care or a place to board pets until they work out an issue, none of these situations are easily helped. Then there's This non profit run by Gary Kaufman, not only does it help provide both short & long term shelter for pets in need, they help with food donations, medical services through fundraising. They rescue stray/abandoned cats & dogs to help them find homes and heal emotional wounds. Even saving animals from living in cars or a domestic violence situation, Gary steps up. This is one of the few places i know of that offers community support so people can find a way to keep their beloved companion, or provide food / shelter & care until the animal has a stable , safe place with adopters or at the sanctuary.Truly a unique, caring and much needed resource in Long Island N.Y. volunteering is always welcome !!
