We have fallen head over heels in love with our Maisie girl (formerly Helen). Cheyenne was wonderful to work with and was so quick to answer all of my (MANY) questions that I sent her. It was also very helpful to be able to talk with the foster mom on the phone. The process was very quick for us, and took about two weeks from the day that we submitted our applications until the day that we brought Maisie home. The transport from Alabama to Connecticut was very smooth, and communication was exceptional. I would absolutely work with this shelter again.
My only recommendation-and I would recommend this with any shelter dog- would be to bring the puppy to the vet quickly upon coming home. Maisie had a few issues that can be common for puppies not fully vaccinated that are living in foster – they cleared up quickly with meds and she is doing awesome now!

Great communication with this rescue. April (formally known as Whiskey Jane) is so sweet. The initial description said she was lab/golden and would be 60 pounds. The reality is the vet said probably 40 lbs and guessing she’s lab./ terrier cross. Also thought she was 3 months but she was 5 months. She also came with 4 different parasites including tapeworms. All of the above is not a slam on the rescue just a heads up for future adopters. I couldn’t be happier with Tis sweet sweet girl. She’s smart and owns our hearts. Watching her run zombies is the highlight of my day. I have absolutely no regrets about using this rescue. I would consider using them again.

We adopted our dog Pippi (aka) Sparkle, this past December. She has been a very sweet and playful girl. We love her very much. The only problem we have had with her unfortunately is she having seizures. We are working with our veterinarian on controlling her condition. But other than that she’s is a happy girl. Yes , I would encourage other people to give these wonderful dogs a home.

We adopted a dog in early October 2024. I was so impressed with NGL from the very start! The staff responded so quickly to my adoption application and answered all of my questions about adoption and transport. The foster took incredible care of my puppy from a very young age, which helped her adjust to our family very quickly. The transport from Alabama to Connecticut was very well organized, and I felt that my new puppy was in great hands! I would strongly recommend this rescue and I will be reaching out again!

Hello,

On your end everything went smoothly, everyone was very nice and helpful to make the transition. We think it is wonderful the rescue you run to save these dogs. Wyatt AKA "Oliver" is settling in very slowly, baby steps. We are trying to accommodate his needs the best we can for the situation. He had made great strides with his house training, he is a very nice gentle dog that is very skittish, he very much misses the other dogs he was with however, he is slowly getting use to us and his new surroundings.

Thank you.

We welcomed in a rambunctious little kitten named Fred and we are absolutely in LOVE! I appreciate the people who took good care of him and brought him all the way to us. He fit in immediately into our family and gained a best friend in our young cat and toddler. If we choose to adopt again we definitely know where to seek advice!

These people are full of love and compassion for animals and they do a remarkable job of saving those that would likely be euthanized. I recently adopted my precious Frankie, a 2 year old chihuahua, from No Greater Love and I could not say enough about how wonderful they are. It is rare to find a group of people so dedicated to their passion. Thank all of you for what you do and especially thank you for making it possible for Frankie to become a part of my life.

I have adopted 5 dogs from No Greater Love in the last 6 years. This rescue has proven to me over and over again their commitment to helping save as many dogs as possible. They are always available to answer any questions you may have. They transport dogs every couple of weeks from Alabama to the Northeast. It’s a huge undertaking and they pull it off flawlessly. This is a family-run rescue with help from volunteers. You will thrilled with your experience if you adopt from this rescue.

I adopted my precious Mindy through Nogreaterlove rescue in December of 2021and she has been such a gem in our household ever since. .NGL delivered her to us by transport to Halifax, Vermont and when I picked her up, I knew she was my forever baby. I touched her on the cheek, and after I said “ Hello, there, and she looked up at me, I knew it was a match made in heaven. Beforehand, we went through a very thorough application process, and it only took a week until I saw her and we claimed her as our own. Her addition to our household has been perfect, so I want to say, “Thank you, NGL !!”

No Greater Love Rescue gave me my beautiful Mindy who is now a year old. When we adopted her, we met with the van whose driver came all the way from Alabama to Halifax, Vermont. Those of us who were waiting for our puppies stood in line, as Gil asked for our name and the name of the puppy we were adopting. When I told him , Mindy, he got her from her crate and handed her to us. I touched the side of her cheek, and said “Hi, there.” She looked at me with her beautiful, brown eyes. That was the beginning of a “beautiful friendship.”

I absolutely LOVE this nonprofit and everyone involved! In the last 20-25 years I've adopted from a few different rescue groups, and this is by far the best! They do so much to help their puppies and dogs be ready for adoption--our pup came to us already knowing basic commands and halfway potty trained (basically paper trained.) I find their fees very reasonable considering how much they do. To be honest, no rescue group is cheap. County animal shelters may be, but NGL provides a much greater level of care and training. Our dog came with all her health records and our vet was really impressed. Now that I know how awesome NGL is, they are the only rescue group I want to work with. I picked "Client Served" as we adopted from NGL, but I also donate to them whenever I can.

We lost our elderly dog in February 2024. I thought I’d never be able to open my heart to another dog again after that, but our younger dog was so lonely. We waited a few months and you could tell he was getting depressed. Honestly our home felt empty with only one dog. So we started searching and we found Sally (now Sigi) and new she had to be ours. Everything is going great and she was the puzzle piece we were missing. I contacted No Greater Love and we had her with a week. She’s made me realize I can love again, and my other dog is so happy to have a playmate/cuddle buddy. I highly recommend this rescue. Cheyanne and the fosters we worked with were just so wonderful.

And the driver of the van was immensely helpful, patient and compassionate to me when I got lost on route to the meeting place! My family has always had two dogs at the same time and when we lost our beagle (Benny) right before the holidays in 2018 we were devastated and knew we needed to rescue our next baby. We had always rescued dogs that were at least a year old, never had a puppy because we wanted to stick with humane societies and rescues. The timing was perfect, and we came across No Greater Love Rescue. We came across a little female pup named Apple Blossom and she melted our hearts. By the end of December, we were picking her up in Brattleboro, VT. Everyone who is part of the rescue was amazing during the process, from the application to transport. And then we found the Facebook group of the families who have adopted from No Great Love and that sealed the deal for us.... We will be rescuing again when the time is right. Apple Blossom (now Lucy) will definitely want a little brother or sister some day and we know where we will be going. Again, we want to thank everyone who is part of the rescue for what you do.

I have been adopting rescue dogs and cats my entire life, (and I'm old.) I have always brought my current dogs to meet potential adoptees to see how they do upon introduction, and to see how they do around cats, as I have two of those too. I always end up adopting black dogs as they are the hardest to place. I only adopt adult or senior dogs for two reasons: 1) they are hard to place too, and 2) they are the most mellow and usually housebroken. I adopt a dog when one of my dogs is getting up there in age and health and might not be with us much longer. I find that the best trainer for my new dogs are the dogs I already have at home.

So, my boy turned 13 and started having some problems with his hips, his vision, and his hearing. So we started looking in Petfinder for another dog.

I have always had big dogs, and decided to get a smaller one so that if we decided to move into a condo or a senior community we were more likely to be allowed a small dog. I started looking at dogs, and how long they've been on Petfinder. I went for the ones who've been there awhile. I saw this cute, little dog from No Greater Love (NGL) in AL. She had been up there a couple of months. She was black (of course) but she was young compared to what I usually adopted. She was only estimated to be around 2. She was some sort of bully mix, and adorable. I can't imagine why nobody else applied for her. I sure did. The problem was, there was no way to meet her before I adopted her. I was in New England and she was in the south. This made me pretty nervous. So I called and spoke with Vivian, for whom I had a LOT of questions. Was the dog a talker? (my husband does the support from home and can't have a barky dog) How was she with cats? What was her energy level like? Does she know any commands? Is she housebroken?

Well she never lived in a house before and they didn't know how she was with cats. She is very quiet and fearful of people but she loves other dogs. If you go to pet her she runs away as opposed to being aggressive. Actually she was very sweet and not aggressive at all. She recently had puppies which all found homes and now it was her turn. She was a gentle and nurturing dog. OK, we'll adopt her. If she's gentle and sweet, and quiet, I can work with everything else. My last two adopted dogs were fearful dogs, and they're wonderful.

We met the transport on the appointed day and time. It went very smoothly. We were able to follow the transport on an app, they used. Gil, the transport driver from NGL told all the people adopting puppies how they would be first. They'll hand the puppy to the adoptive parent swaddled in a blanket. Gil said there was one dog who was totally freaked out and because of that, she'll go last. I asked her name, he said, "May Le" and asked me who we were waiting for. I replied, "May Le."
They picked her up and put her in the back of our car, where my husband was waiting. He rode in the back with her all the way home, about 3 hours. She finally relaxed with him and fell asleep. Poor little thing was spent.

When we got to our house, we let her out in the fenced in back yard. May Le started wagging her tail and was so happy to meet Silk, our other head case black dog. It went well. We brought out Ziggy, our older male. He is finicky about who he likes. She was very happy to see him too. I was afraid she was too high energy for him, but he was able to correct her himself when she got overly rambunctious. We renamed her to Magic, and she's been a wonderful addition to our family. I am so grateful Vivian was candid with me about her personality, so we could make an informed decision. I have stayed in touch with NGL as they too, have become part of our family. PS. Magic is very smart, and watches the other dogs. She has never had an accident inside, she goes in the yard where the other dogs go. She loves the male cat: Cloud, and he loves her too.

My daughter wanted a kitten for her 15th birthday so we told her to look online and see what was available. She fell in love with a little kitty from Alabama and living in Upstate NY I wasn't sure how we'd make this work. I filled out the adoption application and figured we'd be denied because of the distance. Well I was contacted quickly and found out we could have him transported to VT which is an hour away! Everyone was so nice and genuinely helpful , the process took only a couple days and within 2 weeks we were holding our new furry family member. What a joy it was to watch all the people there meeting their new pets for the first time and each pet was so happy and healthy. The love and care was very obvious with each and every adoption we saw. We will definitely adopt again from No Greater Love when we are ready to add to our family again. Finding the perfect dog was important to us as our boys, who are 5 and 3, were diagnosed with Autism and truly needed a companion. Zoey has already made a tremendous impact on our boys lives even in the short 3 weeks we have had her so far. She is the perfect hiking buddy and so so sweet and gentle considering her past. They are amazing people who have dedicated their lives to saving animals. They are compassionate, efficient, transparent, and trustworthy. I had rescued 5 puppies with absolutely no place for them to go (shelters full, no longer taking intakes), and NGL stepped up and in. The puppies were impeccably cared for until their transport to Vermont. Regular. every- day people smart enough to create, maintain, sustain and manage a rescue from scratch growing it all the way to networking with rescues in other states and providing transportation to those states on a regular basis is nothing short of amazing. NGL recognizes the abhorrent lack of animal welfare laws, lack of spay and neuter regulations, and acceptance of animal neglect and maltreatment in their community and state and stepped up to make as much difference as they could. Again, these are every day, regular people who started thus group because they cared when others do not. Even nationally funded animal societies that bear the names of nationally recognized organizations in our community have not cared enough to stand up and step up like the individuals that created and maintain NGL.

DO NOT adopt from these people. Their fee for an ADOPTION is 500+ and they have the most ridiculous application ever. They even want you to release your past medical information and doctors name and a reference. This is a complete waste of time and a an obvious rip off. None of us need this information(yes i work as a tech so im quite aware what this is) and they are clearly trying to stealand blame the economy or "trying to rehome to the best blah blah blah, now sign a contract to come back anget a neutering because we say so. totally not trying to steal". Also the phone number doesnt work another red flag for people that abuse the system. This is why high kill shelters are so common now, theifs like these people.

No Greater Love is an amazing organization staffed by a dedicated family of volunteers. They work tirelessly to save dogs from neglect, abuse, and abandonment, and to find them loving forever homes.

What sets No Greater Love apart is their commitment to providing the highest level of care for each and every dog they rescue. From the moment a dog comes into their care, they receive top-notch medical attention, nutritious food, and plenty of love and socialization. The volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that each dog is healthy, happy, and ready to find their forever family.

But No Greater Love doesn't just stop at finding homes for dogs. They also work hard to educate the community about responsible pet ownership, and offer resources to help families keep their pets healthy and happy. Where another rescue might give up, this fearless and tenacious group lifts up those on whom others have turnee their backs.

I can personally attest to the incredible work that No Greater Love does, as I have had the pleasure of adopting one of their dogs myself. From the very first interaction, I knew that this was an organization that truly cared about the well-being of their animals. The adoption process was seamless and thorough, and I felt confident that I was bringing home a happy and healthy dog who had been well-cared for.

I cannot recommend No Greater Love highly enough. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment to animal welfare is truly inspiring, and I know that they will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of countless dogs for years to come. No Greater Love is one of my favorite non-profits! The dedication of everyone involved with this organization is amazing, but more importantly, it is steadfast and unwavering. No Greater Love has pulled dogs from high kill shelters that other rescue organizations would have given up on.

I have worked with other rescues over the years, and they were fine, but No Greater Love stands above the others simply because of the tenacity, heart, and vision shared by everyone involved.

In February 2021, three weeks after our almost 14 year old Molly went to the Rainbow Bridge, we met No Greater Love in Vermont to pick up Boo Bear, fka Boo. My husband wasn´t sure he could give his heart again, but the day Molly passed, he asked if we could adopt again, from a rescue that prioritizes pulling dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters. We started combing through Petfinder, and the picture of Boo caught my husband´s attention. He felt an instant kinship, just from a picture. If ever a dog was heaven-sent, it is Boo Bear. As soon as Gil handed Boo to my husband and we got her to the car, she showered him with kisses. My husband and I were both working from home at the time, and for three days he held her on his lap when they were not playing or we were not taking her for a walk. The bond between Boo Bear and my husband is so strong! She loves me too, very much, but she is a Daddy´s Girl.

With most of the rescue groups I had worked with in the past, there was barely a mention of the importance of preventing Parvo. Boo Bear´s vaccinations had started with No Greater Love, and we got her complete health record. But she wasn´t done with the puppy series, and we got more education from No Greater Love about how to keep Boo Bear safe until the puppy vaccination series was complete (she needed one more vaccination) than any rescue group--or frankly, any vet--ever provided. We followed their directions 100%.

Today, as I write this, it is Boo Bear´s second birthday. Because NGL pulled her, mom and sibs from a high kill shelter, we don´t know for sure the date she was born, but their estimation of how old she was combined with our vet´s initial exam put her at four months. We counted back and picked October 22 for her birthday. it´s funny actually--I meant to have the day match the day we adopted we met NGL to pick up Boo Bear, which was February 21, 2021. But when I went to enter her birthday for the vet and online where we often shop, I accidentally put her birthdate as 10/22, and we have let that stand. We still have February 21 to celebrate her Gotcha! day.

I am trying to find and attach the picture Vivian Abbott took of Boo Bear (posted on Petfinder) that made my husband fall in love with her, but for now, here is one of Boo at the groomer´s. I am eager to adopt again--or maybe foster, but most likely adopt--and the only organization I want to adopt from is No Greater Love. I am not sure which of the roles is the right one to choose in the drop down menu below, but if ¨Client Served¨ means adopter who adores No Greater Love, then that´s the ticket!

Without NGL we wouldn’t have met our 3 best friends! They save so many beautiful souls that get to be met with a family instead of the worst fate. They are so accommodating and care so much about these animals. Aspen and Remi were still puppies, placed into kill pens when people decided they didn’t want them anymore. And our girl Jules, was abused and had to have a leg amputated as a result of neglect and violence. She is riddled with scars that make us wonder about her past. Despite it all she is so willing to love you. She’s the first to care for any baby at home and the first to protect mama from the mean rooster in the back yard. She gives endless kisses and snuggles. Without NGL she wouldn’t have ever had a family that loved her. Her big heart would’ve never been rewarded. Thank you NGL for making it so we can all get the perfect furry family members! We are forever grateful!!

No Greater Love was so great to work with. When we couldn't get any other rescue to respond during the pandemic, they were there. Supportive, friendly and helpful. They worked with us to adopt a dog that was right for our family and got him transported to us! So grateful! 2 years later we couldn't imagine life without him.

We adopted our two pups in 2018. They were littermates. We found NGL online through Petfinder. At first we were apprehensive about adopting without seeing dogs but the owner sent us videos of the mom and puppies so we could see them interacting. She also helped us pair up two of them that would be compatible. They are a perfect match!
Four years later, my pups have become such a special part of our family. We were lucky to find a rescue that goes above and beyond to save so many animals.

We adopted a nine month old pup in January and he is fabulous! He is still growing and the vet feels he is a German Shepherd Great Dane mix, so has a long way to go before he is full grown. In April we adopted a Pitbull Lab mix and NGL helped us with advice on some issues that developed between our new girl and our senior dog, who's a bit grumpy at times. They truly care what happens to the animals and do everything possible to make certain the pups have a great forever home. I highly recommend this rescue and would adopt from them again if I had the room for four dogs!

My boyfriend and I had a very rough year, going from December 2020 to December 2021. We lost three of our 4 most senior boys one after the other. When our last baby passed December 4th 2021, our last boy Rambo started acting out and displaying behavioral issues. After about 3 months of trying everything, and i mean everything, I caved and I knew that I had to get all of us a companion. He had never been alone in his life before now. I found this organization on Petfinder and I came across this very sweet puppy who had been rescued. Her mother was found pregnant, wandering the streets. Within a month, she was in our possession and within days, we no longer had the behavioral issues that our boy Rambo was having. Nala is our new girls name and come to find out, she was born 2 days after our last boy Gunnie passed. Rambo and her are connected at the hip and we couldn't be happier with our little muttiest mut. She melts our hearts and has helped Rambo more than words can describe.

We adopted from NGL coming up on three years ago, to our precious Border Collie, Millie. As a first time adopter and dog owner, I had a lot of questions to ask. Questions about the sweet dog we were getting and also the whole process of how adoption and transportation works. From rescuers, to foster mom, to transport team all of our phone calls and questions were met with prompt responses and honest answers. We were kept well informed of the transport team's location and arrival time, which can be tricky with New England snow in late November! So thankful that we found and worked with this rescue. Would 100% use them again and recommend to those adopting!

The more I learn about No Greater Love (NGL) Rescue and the people who volunteer with them, the more I am in awe of all that they do. How often do you find someone who drives 19 + hours each direction every weekend to bring Southern doggos and kittens to their forever homes? Or how often do you have someone sell their home so they can move into a much smaller rental so that the dogs they foster can have a yard to play in? I am so glad I discovered NGL in 2020 and that they blessed us with our first dog and allowed us to foster four dogs with them since. The people of No Greater Love Rescue make a difference in so many dogs' lives and I only hope their impact can continue to grow to help more animals. We will be lifetime supporters of No Greater Love Rescue!

We’ve adopted 4 doggos from No Greater Love. They are absolutely hands down the best non profit rescue I’ve ever dealt with. They’ve always made sure all of our babies were properly vetted before coming up north (2 came up with GSW’s) and our girl even came with packets of probiotics to ease her tummy. They genuinely care about each and every dog they adopt out. I’ll never go through another rescue but them again.

NGL was amazing to work with when looking for our new four legged friend! Beyond impressed with how helpful they were and how smooth things went. I fostered for a northern rescue for years and knew we wanted to rescue from the south. They let me send a stuffed animal for Jax to have before and during transport. They even played along with us surprising our son as Jax arrived on our sons birthday. Very professional. We love being part of the NGL family and seeing all the updates and happy stories of animals finding their forever homes! Highly highly recommend!!!

They're kind, caring people trying to do the best thing possible for these animals. My girl now lives a life of luxury with us in Vermont. Thank you NGL!

Next month will have been a year since I adopted my best girl from No Greater Love Rescue. I have adopted many dogs over the years and found the experience with No Greater Love one of the best! Quick response, friendly people who made the experience feel comfortable. I loved tracking the van to VT for pick up day. And my girl, when I met her, was even better than I had been told she was. I hope to adopt my next dog from No Greater Love Rescue.

No Greater Love has been amazing. I rescued an elderly blind/deaf dog from them. They took the time to speak to me on the phone and through several emails prior to adopting to help me make the best decision for me and my dog and the dog I was adopting. Unfortunately, he was old and sick and I wasn’t able to have him for long before he passed away. They and fellow adopters supported me through his passing and consider my other dog family as well. It’s a loving supportive community and I’m so thankful for them. When I adopt in the future it will be through them.

We were trying to find a pup to adopt (as many were during COVID)...went through many shelters only to be slapped with a waiting list or constant "that animal is spoken for" replies. Then I found NGL and they were rockstars. Pros: very responsive, caring, understanding, supportive, I can't say enough good things about them. It's easy to tell they have a compassion for their job and the animals they take in. If you are looking for a pet to adopt, this is the place. They work tirelessly to help all their animals find loving and safe homes.
