Mission: We believe that art is fundamental to the human experience and vital to the healthy development of every young child. As crayons are typically the means by which children first engage with the world of art, we feel it is crucial to provide every child with a healthy supply of these basic art instruments. By giving a child crayons, you give them access to two of the most empowering resources of all: their own imagination and creativity. Because despite what our current economic and educational policies might suggest – ART IS NOT A LUXURY. Art is a means by which we grow emotionally, psychologically and intellectually. Through art, one learns to envision, to innovate, to make the impossible possible, even in such fields as science, math and politics. Through art, the children of today will imagine and create tomorrow. In short, the value of a simple crayon and its impact on a child should never be underestimated. These are treasures that should never be treated as trash. By saving potentially millions of crayons that would otherwise be discarded by restaurants and delivering them into the hands of children rather than landfills, we better the lives of children as well as the earth they will inherit.
