Results: Last year, nearly 2,800 adults and children received NDS services, and NDS responded to more than 14,500 hotline calls for crisis counseling, information, and referrals. During the first half of FY 2018, Next Door Solutions experienced a surge in clients coming forward for crisis related services including emergency shelter, restraining order requests, risk assessment, safety planning, intensive case management and a variety of other support. By the middle of the current fiscal year, NDS experienced a 56% increase in crisis intervention sessions and an increase in case management sessions of 138%. And over the last five years, the average length of stay at the Shelter Next Door has increased 52%, from 25 days to 38 – with some families staying 90 or more days. We don’t anticipate an end to this trend.

Next Door Solutions is an incredible organization providing critical services to families in crisis. Next Door getting these people into safe and stable situations is lifechanging. Having worked with Next Door for the past two years, I can personally attest to the expert leadership of their executive team, and to the level of care and commitment that the staff provides to their clients. It is amazing what this team is able to accomplish on such a tight annual budget. The ultimate proof is in the countless success stories told by the women and children who have been helped by Next Door.

The strength of Next Door Solutions lies in the employees. They are listeners, advocates and organizers for persons who are encountering violence in a relationship. There are no simple answers to provide. Next Door employees have the experience and the desire to help the someones who show up on a phone call in for help or a drop in with the kids to try to get an answer. The answer, of course, has to come from the person looking for help - who may decide to leave for good and get help in the leaving or stay and bring about change using resources and tools provided by Next Door advocates.

I was in a violent relationship in the 1960's in Arizona and there was no place to go or anyone to help. Fortunately after seven years my son and I got out. When I found out about Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence I vowed to do everything that I could to help them. This organization is amazing in all that they do and they can't make it any easier to get help. I only wish that there had been a place like this for my son and me. Next Door Solutions you rock!

Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence saved my life and the lives of my 2 daughters. When my ex-husband became increasingly abusive and threatened to kill us all, a Next Door Solutions advocate helped me create a safety plan. When his violence escalated, they helped me get a restraining order. I attended a Next Door Solutions women's support group for 3 years, to recover and learn how to rebuild our lives and form healthy relationships. All of these services were free and everyone who helped us was caring and supportive. Because of Next Door Solutions, all 3 of us are alive today and pursuing our dreams.

Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence is a very good organization. They have done many helpful and good things for the community and it's people. I was sent over to the organization through Heald College to gain experience in the field that I am working in and will continue to work in. They have the friendliest staff who know exactly what they are there to do and that is help every single client that walks through the door. When I first came to Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence to help in the office, I knew nothing about the organization and as time went on I was able to pick up really quick on what the organization does. They provide many services for the community that make a big difference in their lives, as well as their families.I feel that Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence is heaven sent and I know that all these services can amount to a lot of money, but looking past all cost you can not put a price on a child, mother, father, student or family that is being helped to better themselves, so that they may make a better future not only for themsleves but the people that also surround them. Working at Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence is such a rewarding job that not all the money in the world can replace what the people at Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence do. So if you feel like you would like to put your money somewhere where people can put it to good use and really help and make a difference with it, please feel free to donate to Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence. You and your friends are always welcomed!

We all know someone, a co-worker, a family member, a neighbor, who is experiencing domestic violence at this time. Next Door gives us a place to ask questions, refer someone for a safe haven, or to find a resource for prevention. NEXT DOOR Solutions for Domestic Violence is such a critical part of our community and we recognize them especially as we move into October, Domestic Violence Awareness month. Without Next Door, many affected by Domestic Violence would have absolutely no where to turn. Please support Next Door in their mission to end Domestic Violence - through your financial support or volunteering of your time. You may also donate items for the Holiday Boutique where hundreds of children and their moms have an opportunity, sometimes the only one they will have at the season, to give a gift to one another - a symbol of their love and commitment through these tough times.

I have been involved with Next Door solutions for over one year as a volunteer. I have had the pleasure of working with their staff on the Kid's Club program and newsletter. Kid's Club provides free child care for clients while they attend support groups at Next Door. Kid's club provides a safe, fun and educational environment for children and covers new topics each month. Topics like feelings, friendship, communication, self-esteem and many others are covered. I have seen first hand what a positive influence that Next Door solutions has on their clients, clients children and the community.

Next Door, started in 1974, is the oldest and most comprehensive agency in Santa Clara County dedicated to helping domestic violence victims. Its emergency shelter was the first bilingual shelter in the country. I became involved as a board member 4+ years ago and have been impressed every day since. Programs for kids and teens are outstanding. Multi-lingual victims approaching the court system couldn't get a better advocate and guide.

Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence is an impressive organization. They are changing the way the general population views Domestic Violence. Not only are they helping victims in the moment, but they are making great strides in educating the public about D.V., which will go a long way towards ending the cycle for all time.

I've been involved with many non-profits through the years. What strikes me most about Next Door is the organization's devotion to their cause - to end domestic violence in the moment and for all time. Having served as a board member for five years, I'm continally amazed at the dedication and selflessness that all members (employees and volunteers) of NextDoor give to the victims of domestic violence. Leading and working for a non-profit presents constant challenges. This organization consistently rises to the challenge to best serve the community. I would encourage any one interested in this cause to learn more about NextDoor. I'm sure glad I did. Chris

When I was five years old my mom had an ex- boyfriend that decided if he couldn't have her know one could. He broke into our house in the middle of the night and proceeded to beat her to death. He ended up braking her nose, eardrum, and knocked out all most all her teeth. Then called back and she answered the phone and said he was coming back to finish the job. He got one year sentence. I wanted to give to this cause and found this group called Next Door Solutions on the internet and have been a donor for several years now. The group of people that work there are outstanding. I am so proud to be a small part of what it is they are doing to help these woman and children.
