Mission: The newborn foundation will provide education around newborn health issues as well as health information technologies. Our organization will work with providers to increase awareness of what options are available to parents and providers. This will be accomplished by 1) surveying pediatric cardiologists to develop tools that will provide clinical decision support to pediatricians, and 2) increase awareness for newborn health conditions and how technology innovations are improving newborn health by creating educational materials that are for providers and for families on the options available for pediatric cardiology patients such as a)for providers - cardiology screening options as well as new care plan adherence programs to better coordinate care with patients and families and b)for families - available treatment options, support and community services, as well as financial reimbursement options.
Programs: Determine best practices for pulse oximetry screenings and to compile an entry level provider directory for care of infants with below average oximetry readings. This involves surveying pediatric cardiology, congenital heart surgery and neonatology centers in the united states and consulting experts from relevant professional organizations to develop clinical decision support processes for healthcare providers that may not be well versed in dealing with pediatric cardiology patients.
