This agency has forever changed my view on animal adoption. We are a loving family that thought we were doing a good deed by adopting instead of purchasing a dog.
We had such a horrible experience with New York Safe Haven Animal Rescue. We were fostering with intent to adopt “Eve” who we named Gracie. We bought her toys, food, treats , a bed and a collar with her new name tag. We were training her and loving her. Then Ariel Lavalle, the founder of the organization, wanted to have her spayed immediately at only 11 weeks old. When we asked if we could wait until she was older because of the health risks, she said no and then told us she would not go through with the adoption anymore and she was coming to pick up the dog. She sent someone the next day who didn’t know anything about our situation and took our Gracie away. My family and I were devastated. This rescue clearly does not have the animals best interests at heart. New York Safe Haven Animal Rescue, Inc. We are so disappointed. Sorry Gracie girl we hope you find a family that loves you as much we have.
