Mission: To create and sustain employment and training opportunities on-site as well as off-site in the local community for legally blind men and women in the greater new york city area
Programs: Sale of products (mops, brooms, brushes, military uniforms, etc) and provision of services (warehousing and distribution, packaging and assembly, etc) that create on-site jobs and training opportunities leading to economic and personal independence for legally blind men and women
'blue power' community placement program - utilizing the experience that nycib has gained over 15 years in transforming poorly educated, inexperienced, low-esteem men and women who are legally blind, into 'work ready' employees 'on-site' within nycib, to create new job opportunities 'off-site' for other legally blind men and women in a broad range of 'blue and white collar' jobs in the local community
