Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: New york bully crew is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit rescue organization founded in december 2010. Though based on long island, nybc's outreach is nationwide. We specialize in rescuing pitbulls, however no animal in dire need of rescue is turned away. Nybc strives to bring positive attention to the most loyal breed one could encounter, and give second chances to those who have been discarded by humans simply because of what they are. . . A pitbull. Finding loving and responsible homes for each and every rescue is our main objective. We at nybc firmly believe that there are no bad dogs, just bad owners, and educating the public is a must if the bully breeds are to have a chance of survival in today's society.

Programs: New york bully crew (nybc) with the help of 35 number of volunteers had rescued approximately 2164 dogs from inception (2010) with approximately 564 alone in 2015. We were able to place approximately 81 of the dogs in their forever homes alone in 2016. We work with several organizations including but not limited to: hempstead animal shelter, brookhaven animal shelter, and several nyc aspca precincts. In late 2015, we were fortunate to open up a second shelter in staten island, new york to help assist in our cause. Additionally, we sponsor a foster care program that provides an opportunity to care for puppies that are not old enough to be adopted. This is an alternative for dog lovers who cannot make a long-term commitment to a rescue, but still wants to help the animals we serve.

NYBC goes above and beyond to rescue dogs, specifically pitbulls, in need. They take on extreme medical cases and when the dog is healthy enough for adoption, they find it a great home. They have an in house trainer who is excellent and helps their dogs learn basic commands and manners to help them get adopted faster. The dogs are so well cared for and loved. The dog I adopted, was diagnosed with parvo at 7 days old along with his 10 siblings. They were removed from mom and hospitalized. I fostered them when they were released from the hospital. 24 hours a day (literally) someone from the rescue was available for questions and to help me when I needed it. There was never a time I felt like I was alone in the process. Their adoption process is comprehensive and a thorough background check is done before a dog is given to anyone. They are available to reach out to after adoption also to answer any questions or training concerns you may have. New York Bully Crew is an excellent rescue! I have been volunteering with them for 5 years now.
