My husband and I have been attending the shows at New Village Arts since it started 17 years ago. We have been supporters and volunteers for almost that many years! We love the productions and we love all the community outreach that the staff does throughout the year. It is truly a huge asset for Carlsbad and north county communities!
A wonderful organization that puts on incredible plays, musicals, and concerts. Their shows are always entertaining, creative, and unique, and they work with some of the best talent in the area. I've enjoyed supporting them for the last several years. They also host a fun gala each year with a different theme, and they have a lot of education programs for students of all ages--even classes and programs for students with special needs. They're much more than just a local professional theatre.
We have admired this theatre since the day it began in Carlsbad. We have attended EVERY production in the past 19 years, and have been so impressed by the growth, good management, excellent productions . . . as well as the education programs. And the visual art program is unique and so impressive. We always come early to the plays, so we have time to see what’s new in the foundry. Kristianne Kurner is without equal for her creative genius and energy. She is the builder and the forward mover.
New Village Arts is definitely a 5-star non-profit, far exceeding every expectation. I have admired this theatre since Kristianne first arrived in Carlsbad, and have been priveleged to watch it grow, to serve on the first Board, and help with props and costumes along the way. My current role is monthly donor and first row attendee at every show's Opening Night. The Theatre continues to do fine work on stage and off. The brilliance and talent of the staff is amazing.
The opening of the Art Foundry six years ago has made the theatre going experience richer, and has become a 5-star operation in itself. I love to see what's new in the galleries at every visit.
New Village Arts is a real asset to the communities of Carlsbad, North County and really all of San Diego.
My wife and I have attended NVA for over a decade. NVA recruits top talent to mount an exciting range of dramas and musicals each season. Its creative reputation attracts such talent.
NVA has developed an outstanding community oureach program that introduces students to the fine arts. It has been our privilege to see how NVA has grown into such a dynamic theatrical presence.
The leaders in this theatre company are high energy and fun. They are committed to providing high quality theatre experiences that engage audiences and explore important social conditions. While focusing on their product, the company is also committed to investing in their people so they have the skills and tools necessary to be a high functioning team and active community partner.
New Village Arts is a top notch theatre. My husband and I have been to many of their productions and have never been disappointed. They offer a nice mix of mainstream and not so mainstream theatre, musicals and non musicals. They never settle for less. Also, the venue is comfortable and being small every seat is a good one.
I've been a donor and a subscriber to New Village Arts for seven years. I'm constantly amazed and pleased by the quality of their performances. But more importantly, I'm grateful for their continuing efforts at theater education and community outreach. NVA is truly a treasure I will continue supporting in the future.
Excellent theatre experience! I have been a season subscriber for four years. The play selections are richly varied and often challenging. The acting is always, always first-rate. I love the creative set designs — it amazes me how much the sets on this tiny stage enhance the entire theatre experience. I love live theatre and have been a patron of outside-the-mainstream theatres in different parts of the country — this is clearly the best. It is also very important to me that New Village Arts sponsors so many community outreach programs, including those directed towards the neurologically-impaired, seniors, and high school students.
We have been Season Tickets Holders for the past three years of New Village Arts Theatre Inc.
We have never been disappointed with a production.
Each show is versatile, special and unique.
We look forward to each event and highly recommend New Village Arts Threatre to everyone.
Kristianne (the Founder) and all of her staff work together to make NVA Threatre an experience that is truly extraordinary.
I live in Carlsbad, and for many years have attended theatre in San Diego--The San Diego Rep, La Jolla Playhouse, Cygnet...love them all, but am especially thrilled to have an amazing North San Diego County live theatre right in our own village. New Village Arts has grown into a top drawer playhouse that offers season after season of fantastic shows, with a wide range of offerings from musicals to thought-provoking dramas. Have been a season subscriber for many years, and look forward to every one of their productions.
We've been attending New Village Arts theatre since they were in the Jazzercise building. How long ago was that? 10-14 years? We are avid theatre lovers and have found NVA is one of the most consistent in quality offerings. Terrific actors, many of whom we've gotten to know by seeing their performances over the years, excellent productions and great story choices. Some of the plays, I've shed tears, even before intermission, the story has been so powerful. Some, my face hurt for days from laughing. At the helm of NVA, is the energetic, giving, talented, Kristianne Kurner. I admire her, and what she has accomplished soo much. (We live in Rancho Bernardo, a 30 mile drive to Carlsbad, and that doesn't stop us from season tickets and all the extra events that we can attend at New Village Arts.)
Photo: my husband and I were able to attend a rehearsal of Around the World in 80 days, and it was AMAZING and fascinating and so much fun!)
We thoroughly enjoyed listening to Kristianne’s travel adventures and were amazed by how many brilliant and interesting people she met who left a positive impact on her journey. The talk was super interesting and kicked my wanderlust meter into high gear! I brought my teenage daughter who also really enjoyed the evening and she walked away inspired by the example of a professional woman doing what she loves and enjoying her life choices.
We can’t wait to watch her Kristanne’s adaptation to Around the World in 80 Days. NVA is one of Carlsbad’s treasured gems that makes our community so unique—top quality theater right here in downtown.
I have been a theater patron my entire life. I have been a season subscriber to professional theater groups while I lived in NYC, Washington DC, San Francisco and now San Diego County. Here I have subscribed to the La Jolla Playhouse and the Old Globe. For the last three years I have subscribed to New Village Arts and I feel that the productions done here are of hIgher quality than most or all of my other subscriptions. In addition, their work with the community is outstanding.
I felt like Kristianne took us on her trip! Can't wait to see and hear, the whole show.
Fabulous, one of a kind theater! Best in Carlsbad and all of San Diego area! Great local theater and incredible talent!
NVA is an exceptional place to see theater as well as belong to a community of creative people with shared passion for the arts. Their "theater for all" mantra is lived out daily. My son with autism has grown tremendously through their Monday Night Live and Mainstage Players programs. He feels like part of a family of actors and even interns learning the back of the house at his own pace. Some theaters are too big, others are too provincial, NVA is just right!!
New Village Arts Theatre always delivers! As a frequent theatre go-er around San Diego I do my darnedest to attend as much as I can. Through the years I have had the pleasure of attending many events at the space , and every one BLEW ME AWAY! NVA is hands down my most favorite place to attend the arts, and have a fun night out!
New Village Arts has been a leader in our arts community offering a welcoming theatrical environment that takes on daring projects. In addition, they've challenged older theatrical conventions and have been bold in presenting classic works in a re-imagined concept. They offer a particular point of view in our community and I've enjoyed attending their productions, as well as performing in their productions. The staff is committed to producing adventurous artistic experiences to awaken the human spirit.
The theater is creative and fun for the whole community. In addition an additional focus on neural diversity brings them into the community like no other arts organization
A really intimate theater, where the audience is fully involved in the program. Wonderful program.
Excellent productions! Expands creative opportunities in its community to a diverse population from children to seniors. Provides local theater writers the Final Draft program. The theater is a gem!
The production of MISS BENNET, Christmas at Pemberly, was delightful!
New Village Arts is such a boon to the San Diego community. Not only does this theater enhance our cultural scene, but they are champions at giving back to the community and doing outreach to share several avenues of media with various age groups. They sponsor music nights, kids acting groups, sculpture and painting in the foundry. This is a socially responsible, vibrant asset and we'e blessed to have them make a home in Carlsbad!
I discovered NVA just as they acquired the building they now call home. I actually was involved in the "remodel" of making the space an intimate, world class theater. Nothing makes me prouder than seeing the immense jewel and cultivation of talent undertaken by Kristianne. This dynamic, curious and somewhat daring woman, supported by a loving cast of committed staff, volunteers and actors, has given Carlsbad and North County San Diego a highly skilled, provocative theater company that somehow gets better with each and every show. From excellent comedies to musicals to gripping dramas, New Village Arts Theatre has earned five stars and many awards and will go on to win many more fans, admirers and accolades. With supreme gratitude,
Eva Trieger, volunteer and devotee
New Village Arts brings quality theatre and visual art to San Diego county. The staff and volunteers bring their mission to life every day and share their work with the community through live theatre, education programs that make a difference to children, young adults, adults and seniors, and ultimately through top notch outreach programs. Thank you to NVA to making a huge difference in my life and my friends' and family's lives. The annual gala is the event of the year!!
I discovered this theater when I moved to Oceanside, and have been so impressed by its consistently high-quality, impactful performances. About 90% of the shows are timely, relevant, and moving. I highly recommend them!
As a child I attended theater productions pretty often, but as I got older and life got busy I no longer was able to go to performances. It wasn't until recently, while I was working on a masters project at Cal State University San Marcos, that I went to a production again. I was so entertained and impressed with the collaboration of the Buddy Holly Story with New Village Arts and Intrepid Theater. It was a wonderful experience that I was able to share with my mom and we are looking forward to going to many more shows together. Thank you NVA for bringing arts and culture back into my life!
I became involved 15 years ago with New Village Arts. I am pleased with how it has grown as a theatre organization, and as a valued part of the cultural fabric of our community. I has become a significant part of San Diego County's rich theater ecosystem. I have enjoyed helping out with building and maintaining their space, making contributions, and most of all, attending the plays they produce. They have grown into an efficient, well-managed organization, and I hope to go on supporting them for many years to come.
You feel like you are in one of the small London theaters experiencing great performing arts. The visual arts and musical performance form additional artistic experience for the region. The outreach to children, to seniors, to schools and other organizations and groups enhances the quality of life in Carlsbad and the surrounding areas.
This theatre nestled in Carlsbad is a jewel of talent and treasure from the actors and actresses who perform on the stage to the Foundry Artists in their work in their studios. Connecting through the arts brings out the best in people and this theatre does that for carlsbad and the surrounding area. It is so nice to have this in North County with all of the traffic that has increased on the Interstate 5 over the years.
This is an incredible organization! Great plays, musicals, plus an art studio and a bunch of educational programs—including ones for kids with autism and other special needs.
