New Phoebe House originally was a bit militaristic and top/down organization that struggled to keep addicts in line. After much inquiry and research we know that our residents are frequently survivors of multi-trauma abuse and require healing of those original traumas as much as they need sobriety and recovery. We provide an environment rich in support, skill building and mental health access so that our moms have maximum opportunity to heal and be healthy functioning moms and assets to the community. We have been surprised at the extent of the domestic violence our women have survived as well as the level of sexual abuse they have experienced. It's an honor and a privilege to accompany our residents on their journey to a healthier and happier life!
