Causes: Gambling Addiction, Mental Health
Mission: The new mexico council on problem gambling's mission is to reduce the prevalence and impact of compulsive gambling on individuals, families, and communities in the state of new mexico. The organization provides gambling assistance hotline, training and education, and referrals to treatment providers.
Programs: The organization offers a helpline & training program and a treatment intervention program including referrals to treatment providers for problem gambling residents of new mexico. Services provided include:education of the private sector, the business communities and school systems; establishing and maintaining statistics; advocacy for problem gamblers and their families; maintaining affiliation in good standing with the national council on problem gambling; providing contacts to gamblers anonymous and gamanon; providing a state-wide certification program and training of health care professionals; referrals to treatment providers certified in problem and compulsive gambling, paid by new mexico council on problem gambling funding; striving toward making new mexico a better place to live and raise our families; centralizing and coordinating all efforts being made in our state to assist problem gamblers and their families.
